I don't think Kalamazoo is a Detroit farm team or sharing this farm team with the Canucks.
I was just thinking to scout the actual Red Wings since they are in the same state. Hoping they have a surplus of D and shortage of wingers. Could be a perfect match.

Gives us some easy scouting on Wings players. Maybe that will be our new ongoing trade partner.
-
How would you not be able to beat that on a one year or the same AAV for a two year contract. Pedigree, ability and the fact that there is a defensive floor makes it a no-brainer. Well done Sharks, but surprised there wasn't a better offer. Maybe a better opportunity for mins was his main driver.

Would you trade Boeser/Garland/Beau for Zadina?
Canucks get a project young winger and cap space.
Detroit gets the better player to utilize or trade away at the TDL.
I would likely do any of the three (Due to cap space and roster flexibility) but would aim for Garland if possible. Beau can help this team with his speed and Boeser could regenerate some value with a good year.
-
Would the Red Wings have any interest in Myers with all of their cap space. We take the two years of Zadina and they take Myers and keep him or flip him. Myers could be a good vet for them?

I thought the local legend retired years ago. Welcome home-ish.

Wow, so nice to see reasonable deals. This is a good add at this contract.

Rather have Hirose then Tram
Schenn wants longer deal so no dice.
I would try Duch before ROR.
-Duch before O’Reilly strictly because of contract cost
-Tryamkin I sign regardless and he could even play RD. Could pair occasionally with Hughes I bet. I may sign him over Soucy for the savings but Soucy seems like a forgone conclusion.
-I agree on Hirose. I think he’s legit and needs some mins. Maybe a Hirose Tryamkin third pair to start.
-Schenn may not work but he could be a good placeholder timing wise until Willander is ready.
-
Move Myers for free-ish
Sign Soucy, Tryamkin, Schenn, Bjugstad, Duchene:
Beauvillier Pettersson KuzmenkoMiller Duchene Boeser
Mikhayev Bjugstad Garland
Hoglander Joshua Podkolzin
Aman
Hughes Schenn
Soucy Hronek
Tryamkin Johansson
Juulsen
Demko
Someone
Lots of options now.

All the right guys. Bear could be back but just not at the QO. Dermott is in PTO territory with his injuries and time off.
Kravtsov may get better development mins in the KHL to see if he can improve.

Duchene yes, Wheeler no.
-
Time to tank Boston, but send us Carlo first.

damn. Bear and Dermott cost a 3rd and a 5th. These stopgap solutions just doesn't work.
Who did the 3rd and 5th turn out to be? Likely somewhat irrelevant. I would imagine Bear is back but not at the QO. Johansson and Juulsen have time to earn a regular spot and if not they can just sign Bear when he’s recovered.
-
Great signing. Still has the potential to be a solid NHL piece for us and could still be a good pairing for Hughes. Not there yet but not out of the question.

Isn't Tryamkin that old?
Yes he will be just 29 once the season starts, but he likely won't demand a long term deal. Likely 2 years but maybe even 1, where as Soucy will require a 4 year pact I would think. I could be wrong, but just assuming as players with career years in contract years always get pretty good contracts. We've done that a few times before and it hasn't gone so well.
-
Overall a great draft and boosts our D prospect pool significantly as they all have strong NHL potential. Mueller and Perkins were the right positions to focus on, but feel like there were better options even at different positions with higher upside. Either way, a good draft overall.
-
So with his bro being potentially number 1, Vancouver is now the Number 1 OA factory? Feel like we should get in on that sometime.

Physical RD with good bloodlines, very nice. Can practice with his brother in the offseason. Going to BU same as Willander as well
Not that he needs it, but we can direct him to protect Willander more directly now. At least saves a flight to check up on our prospects.

Soucy over Tryamkin. Never really saw the hype about Tryamkin. He has size but really didnt show much in his short stint here. Would rather go after Soucy for 3m/year or so.
He was a prospect at the time, but he has likely developed a lot more. Size, intimidation, reach, skating. They can likely have a similar impact but it's 2M x 2 (or less) vs 4M x 4 (Or more). We need to be cost effective given our cap situation.

Have to say this thread is pretty hilarious. Good for the context on the trade, but not sure what to even discuss. Two 6ths moved for a 4th rounder? Discuss......
-
Seems like they are playing safe in the 4th round. Should be all about highest upside. Seems like the wrong strategy for this round.
-
Uh, Cam Allen sometime soon? Why is he not being taken over these project 4th liners? Seems like a project worth taking in the 4th round.

Buffalo took my favorite defenseman all year in Strbak. Considering their recently defenseman development track record he will probably turn out well.
He was a guy I was hoping the Canucks moved into the 2nd round for, but with the drafting of Willander, it became less of a need since we will have Willander and Hronek on the right side for years if everything turns out well.

I agree, especially that we are not in Cup contention but we act like we are every year.
The mandate from ownership is playoffs now and have seen nothing to make me believe we will do anything other than spend every penny to try to scrape in now, the future will be the next GM and coaches issue if we don’t.Not sure it's actually the case, but it would be nice to see ownership and management aligned on the fact that the playoffs is the goal (Which I think it is), but knowing that it will be based on the performance of the core (Petey, Kuz, Miller (still would trade if we get a strong package), Hughes, Demko, Hronek etc). Complimentary pieces are needed, but don't try and add an aging core piece through UFA yet, until the true core has proven they are close.
We need to try low cost, high potential options where possible in this transition year in bets like Foote, Tryamkin, Fabbro etc because it's possible one emerges as part of the future core. Kuzmenko was a good example of this and proved he was part of the core. We just need to absolutely stay away for 30 year old free agents like Mayfield, Soucy etc as will will overpay for depth. The viscous circle will continue if we do that.

[Report] Canucks announce ECHL partnership with Kalamazoo Wings for 2023-24 season

Scouting the Wings themselves (pro scouting) not Kalamazoo because of proximity.
