  1. So we both have no sources yet it's concluded to not happen. Not sure how that adds up. Tryamkin's agent is the same as Willander's so it's likely there has at least been a discussion, regardless of who initiated it. I put him in the lineup as a proposal, because I feel the low cost, high potential of a player like Tryamkin fits our roster composition perfectly with no downside if he doesn't work out. I also have no idea why this new management would not be interested. The management at the time when he was here was a tire fire.
  2. Definitely have done that for the past decade and as you mention, we have a lot of potential options internally that we will never find out about unless we give them the opportunity. Prospects aren't static and as they develop, they need opportunity to grow further. They won't all do that, but some will. I think we have enough internal options with Woo, Brisebois, Hoglander, Karlsson, Hirose, McWard etc etc, that we can sign some cost effective contracts to insulate them, but we don't need to sign older FAs to longer term deals that don't move the needle and block the ability for prospects to emerge. We are not in cup contention yet and that's what you do at that phase. Schenn is a true soldier and makes sense to bring back. Tryamkin could be a super effective signing with high upside vs contract value (no risk), and Foote could be a cheap risk worth taking. Soucy, Graves etc likely age of their inflated contracts before we really need them. Not the year to spend on them.
  3. Glad to know you have some inside information that nobody else does. Would be nice if you shared your source if you have it. I don't think it's a infatuation with former players, as nobody wants to bring back Pouliot, Wellwood etc and not even a peep on Bonino as our next 3C for cheap. Tryamkin is only because he showed flashes of being a unique talent as a young prospect, and has only solidified himself in the KHL as a top shutdown type player with mobility. Him at 2M short term vs Soucy at 4M long term is almost a no brainer for our 2nd pair needs, so why not. Gives us more cap to find an upgrade on Schenn to pair with Hughes? Closing doors for no reason makes no sense at all.
  4. Would be nice to focus on adding a bunch of C prospects with the remaining picks, however would also be nice to add yet other D in Cam Allen, Jakub Dvorak or Arttu Karki with our 3rd.
  5. Doesn't fully meet a specific need, but wonder if our 3rd, 4th and 6th would allow us to get an early 2nd and snag Cristall? Higher chance of Cristall making the NHL than those three picks likely. Maybe I answered my own question.
  6. Pretty good, but I don't think that's the order with regards to NHL ceiling. I would think it would be more like: 1. Willander 2. Lekkerimaki 3. Hoglander 4. Silovs 5. Raty C is our major area of need now, so we really need Raty to take that next step this year. I think he will.
  7. No team with Petey, Hughes and Demko, let alone Miller, Hronek, Kuzmenko etc etc is finishing last. Team was sewered because of Demko's start and a few other factors like having no team structure. I would treat this as a transition year to clear some cap (Myers) and maybe a winger (Boeser/Garland) and give some guys a chance to see what we have. This is not the year to sign guys like Soucy as it won't move the needle at all beyond what I recommended and we will overpay. If we can snag someone like Carlo effectively, then sure, but otherwise, we need to focus on cheaper complimentary pieces.
  8. TB makes sense as they are only going for the cup, so they have little time to develop within the NHL squad. Nashville just signed Livingstone and they likely want to offer him mins along with Barrie and maybe Fabbro unless they trade him. It's almost the exact same situation as Bear where there isn't necessarily a lot of room. Foote has the exact fundamentals that we need (Size, speed etc), and we have the flexibility to start him on the 3rd pairing and see if he can evolve into a potential Hughes partner or maybe in case of injury. If we can get Schenn back maybe he, Gonchar and Foote's dad can all mentor/coach him. If we move Myers early on and sign Tryamkin, Foote and Schenn we could have: Hughes Schenn Tryamkin Hronek Hirose Foote Would be a nice transition D to see what we have and adjust for the following year. We could also get Schenn, Tryamkin and Foote together for the price of Soucy or a little more.
  9. Isn’t he a repped by Todd Diamond who also reps Willander? Two for one.
  10. If that’s the order (Fantilli is 99% number 2) then it’s Bensen, Simashev, Danielson, Willander in that order as you said. I think Barlow is out of the top 10 and Benson is in though.
  11. Tree would certainly qualify. I’d be down with Tryamkin at 2M x 2 over Soucy at 4M x 4. Find a package to acquire Carlo and then draft Simashev to give us D depth for years. Start the year with: Hughes Carlo Tryamkin Hronek Hirose Myers
  12. This feels a lot like the Poolman situation. Player who has been mostly 3rd pairing with some stretches and is riding high after the team with a good defensive structure does better in a career year. Without a doubt he is the type of player we need to compliment Hronek, however is 4M per year worth it? I wonder if a value signing of Tryamkin or a call up of Brisebois makes that much overall difference. Feels like we are potentially paying a lot for another player overperforming in a contract year. Put that money and effort towards a true RD partner for Hughes on the top line.
  13. Well you saved me having to type it. This is exactly it for me too. Best upside C/D available with Benson being the only W wildcard if he falls that low.
  14. Would think that would confirm Willander. Guess it comes down to whether we would trade 11 for Fabbro and Willander. Definitely tempting as 11 to 15 is pretty close.
  15. Define what you are looking for in a 2nd pair partner for Hronek and then see what the gaps are with Tryamkin. I don’t think you will find them. Also 2M vs 4M+ for Soucy which means that money difference can go to a true partner for Hughes. Any Tryamkin signing would be short term so if it fails catastrophically (Which it won’t) then you bought time for Hirose, Simashev (if drafted etc) to be ready.
  16. Would still be in the camp of Miller and Rathbone to Car for Kotkaniemi, Morrow and a late 1st. If we drafted Danielson and Strbak then we’d have C and RD depth of: C: Pettersson Kotkanieni Danielson Raty RD: Hronek Morrow Strbak Johansson Creates competition and works for me!
  17. This is a deal that makes sense for LA, however I think WPG actually wins this overall. They just added a boatload of young depth that could each be a future key piece. Probably a good overall win-win trade.
  18. Good signing as they rebuild, however he isn't worth much more than $1.5M in all reality. Obviously Chicago is working to reach the cap floor, so I sure hope we are helping them with that. With that being the case, Myers is almost a no-brainer, as they don't have to pay much for him in actual dollars, they reach the cap floor and they can retain and get an asset at the deadline for him. We get out from that cap to make some proper moves to start the year off. So obviously a win-win, it almost hurts.
  19. If Lucic is an 800k 12/13 forward that can come into the lineup against certain teams to ensure liberties aren't taken, then sure. To me, this all becomes irrelevant if Tryamkin signs with us as he can be an even bigger deterrent, can play meaningful minutes and fills a specific LD gap we have.
  20. I think Dumba would be a yes if we didn’t acquire Hronek. With Hronek in place we need two big stay at home guys to compliment unless Dumba comes at a discount. Carlo or Parayko for Hughes pairing and Tryamkin or Soucy for Hronek pairing.
  21. Never used to be but last year he changed his focus to more of the defensive side: https://flyersnittygritty.com/https-flyersnittygritty-com-feed-12/ For a 3.5M cap savings it could be worth it if Flyers retain or we swap for Boeser.
  22. Myers, Rathbone and another future pick/prospect for Ristolainen 50% retained. He’s become a shut down guy from being a Myers like offensive guy with gaffs.
  23. I like the 16-20 list way more than the 11-15 list. May mean we trade down. Have a feeling Danielson, Reinbacher, Simashev, Willander are our core targets.
  24. The Russian factor only relates to whether or not they can come over to play, but I think they have ways to sort that out. Effort level has nothing to do with nationality. We had Wellwood, Pouliot and Virtanen, which breaks your theory in just a couple seconds of thinking about it. Reinbacher followed by Simashev may be really good targets for us if they fall to 11.
