  1. He may or may not but if not we could just go with a younger guy like Johansson, Woo, McWard or Burroughs or whoever earns it in camp. Schenn just gives us more of a veteran presence.
  2. Triple H flanked by defensive vets would be nice. I’d prefer Carlo and then compensate whatever assets we give up for Carlo by signing Tryamkin to a show me deal. Hughes - Carlo Tryamkin - Hronek Hirose - Schenn
  3. If we can’t move Myers until the deadline, I’d try and acquire Carlo and sign Tryamkin: Hughes - Carlo Tryamkin - Hronek Hirose - Myers Johansson/Woo in for Myers once he’s traded.
  4. Wouldn’t be surprised if he’s not re-signed but at this point, who knows.
  5. Perfect. Mayfield at 6.5M vs OEL at 7M. Let’s keep the spending going. Obviously Mayfield won’t make that but I wonder if getting Parayko works nicely to pair with Hughes and we go cheap with other guys in the lineup. I mean if somehow we ended up with the following we’d be better: Hughes Parayko Tryamkin Hronek Hirose Johansson Guess I need to reserve judgement until the finished product is complete.
  6. Maybe it’s time to just let the young guys play and see what we have and adjust next year: Hughes Hronek Hirose Johansson Rathbone Woo Wolanin McWard Move Myers to ARZ or CHI. Could be a tire fire if we go this way though. Need to see the full plan still.
  7. Conceptually Tryamkin - Hronek could be a good second pair with years of runway ahead of them still. Hirose - Myers on the third pair until Bear is back from injury and Myers gets traded at the deadline with Bear replacing him. Still have a problem with the elusive pairing for Hughes.
  8. Which is pretty crazy to think about, but you're right with regards to his current value. Seems shocking that with a terrible FA market that nobody would want him at ~3.5M per. Just hard to think that a top NHL defenseman who is still in his prime years can drop that far without major injuries derailing him. Just have this feeling that he will sign on with someone and do just fine.
  9. This isn't completely crippling, but it still doesn't make any sense. OEL with a proper training camp can still be an effective 2LD and then he fills a need and the contract ends sooner. This would only make sense to me, if we had emerging LD that have taken his spot away. Hirose was pretty good, but are we going to Hirose, Wolanin, Rathbone types to fill the gap? Need to see the full picture. Hope that picture is painted with a Tryamkin - Hronek 2nd pairing
  10. Good deal for the Kings. Longer term would have been troublesome for a pure defensive D.
  11. If all we get is a pure defensive D partner for Hughes, they just overcompensate against him on all breakouts. I think you need a balanced D to pair with him. Severson is that guy if we can move out Myers and some cap. OEL, Severson and Hronek are all solid two way guys which gives us options to find chemistry.
  12. Miller doesn't really hit that much and doesn't really drag many into the fight as we've seen. He does put up points and plays C and CBJ has to prove something. Carlsson who is likely NHL ready or close, 8M in cap space (Maybe to add O'Reilly or some other vets to fill out the roster) meets the bill very well for us, and for both teams TBH. If we can get Peeke from them in some way, then that would be even better. Won't be long until Miller starts to tail off and won't time with our timeline.
  13. Or just put Karlsson at C and Raty on W. Either way having Pettersson and Carlsson for the next 10 years would be pretty awesome. Lead their own lines and then combine on the power play with Hughes.
  14. This actually does make a lot of sense based on the needs and timelines of both teams. Miller gives them the exact type of player they need to push for the playoffs, be a bit more hardnosed (Assuming that is why they hired Babcock) and they still get 11 which will be one heck of a player potentially. We get some cap flexibility and the young C with a higher upside than whoever goes at 11, but it's not a slam dunk as we see prospects not materialize all the time. It would be nice to sneak Peeke out of them as well if they consider it a cap savings to offset Miller. Likely need to add something for them.
  15. If we look at it from the draft perspective it could end up being something like: Nate Danielson (11) and Tyler Myers or Brock Boeser for Otto Stenberg/Calam Ritchie (19) and Oliver Bonk (35) That likely works out for us pretty nicely given the cap flexibility
  16. With the 23rd overall pick the Calgary Flames are proud to select Samuel Honzek from the Vancouver Giants of the WHL. @winterhawks
  17. Voted Tryamkin, but I like the idea of Tanev for either Boeser or Garland as part of it too. Frees up some cap and then Tanev can start with Hughes while ensuring we have depth for when he is injured. Hughes Tanev OEL Hronek Tryamkin Bear Hirose Juulson
  18. Leafs are looking to change their team makeup a bit and just doing a pure downgrade is not going to work. With that said, I am wondering if we should be looking at something like: To Toronto: Miller McDonough Rathbone To Vancouver: Nylander Liljegren If gives us the stronger (Slightly younger) talent which could help boost us into the playoffs sooner, however has the downfall of us not getting too far if we don't change other key components of the team (Similar to the Leafs). It also creates a 2C gap which Raty likely can't fill. This would just be a piece in preparation for other moves (Like moving Myers to Arizona and signing O'Reilly with that cap or less to be 2C). It gives the Leafs a more playoff type player in Miller, a young W as they are cap crunched and a Rathbone/Liljegren change of scenery type deal. Kuzmenko Petterson Nylander Garland O'Reilly Boeser/Beau Could be an interesting top 6
  19. Make it Mayfield, Schenn and Tryamkin and you have yourself a deal. Right side would be avoided by other wingers.
  20. True but if we wanted him back we could just sign him to a one way deal to ensure his NHL salary. Would Clifton bring much more than Burroughs or Juulsen if they had a full year in the league. I think we have enough semi internal options to meet the 6/7 need.
  21. He's definitely not a fit, but I think he had decent talent and decent effort, which ultimately was not enough. He didn't seem as entitled as Virtanen and did put in a pretty good effort, but it just wasn't enough. Podz, Hog, Kravtsov, McD, all need some legit time on the roster with maybe a few others that earn it. Tryamkin does need to come back to the party however.
