  1. Olli Juolevi | D

I am very confident that on next year's opening roster (barring injuries) Tanev, Stecher, Hutton, Gudbranson, Juolevi, and Hughes our gonna be our starting 6.
  2. Toni Utunen | D

Anyone have any information on how he's looked so far in his two games?
  3. Lukas Jasek | RW

How many games did it take Virtanen to get 5 points?
  4. Cole Candella | D

The thing is, if Benning signed every single draft pick even if he thought they weren't any good, than there would be much less contract spaces for guys like mackewen, molino, chatfield, stecher, etc. I'd rather have it this way because Benning feels that some of these undrafted players have a better chance at making the nhl than some of his failed draft picks.
  5. Cole Candella | D

What are this kids chances of making the nhl?
  6. 2017-18 Utica Comets Thread

    How has MacEwan looked?
  7. Brett McKenzie | C

Kid reminds me of Cole Cassels, seems to be solid defensively, just doesn't have enough of an offensive flair to make it.
  8. Adam Gaudette | #88 | C

Except the 100 point guy is making 12.5 mill........
  9. Nikolay Goldobin | #77 | LW/RW

So when I was in grade 10 we received a presentation from an OHL player Connor Schlichting. During the Q&A session afterwards, the topic of work ethic came up, and Connor basically said that what he noticed during training was that generally the better NHL players put much more effort into training than everyone else. But then he said there was an exception of the Russian players on his team, that they didn't really train that much, but regardless were still really good because of how skilled they were. I was thinking back to this story today and went on Hockeydb, and surprisingly enough, found out that the year that he gave this story, none other than Nikolay Goldobin was the leading scorer on the team. Now it's also possible that he was talking about the other Russian import on the team, but just something to consider.
  10. Jake Virtanen | #18 | RW

I can understand the sentiment and desire for Jake to succeed. I want it to happen too. I'm not a fan of finding comparable stats and then saying things like "Jake can still turn out like X player". I think that one should watch how the player plays, and then look at what's holding him back, and use that analysis to make predictions. So when I look at Jake, I see a player who has a great shot, is super fast, and can throw amazing hits, but what's holding him back is his poor hockey iq; being at the right place in the right time, and his decision making when he has the puck. So now when Ferraro says that he sees Hansen as his ceiling, I can understand that because I don't really see how someone with Jake's hockey iq can make it past a third liner in the NHL. I want Jake to do well but in my mind this seems like the most logical prediction of Jake's ceiling at this moment.
  11. Brock Boeser | #6 | RW

Hey man it's the offseason and I was just having fun looking for Boeser comparables until I came across this lol. The vast majority had great careers but I came across this and thought, how $&!#ty would it be if our best prospect turned out like this guy? Not out of the realm of possibility technically speaking.
  12. Brock Boeser | #6 | RW

What if Boeser turns out like this guy? Both had great freshman seasons, and both put 5 points in 9 games the year after, and then have less then promising careers.
  13. Jonathan Dahlén | C/LW

IMO I don't think it's fair to compare Boeser and Dahlen. Boeser looks poised to become a star in the nhl, whereas I see Dahlen as a B+ prospect, where it is still up in the air whether or not he will make it to the nhl.
  14. Evan McEneny | D

Shame with all our new shiny toys, this guy gets overlooked, he's definitely my dark horse for making the team.
  15. Olli Juolevi | D

Edler - Stecher Hutton - Tanev Del Zotto - Gudbrandson Not sure how Juolevi can fit unless he spends a lot of time in the press box.
