I read an article out of Edmonton where the author thought the Oilers had won the UFA market by signing Barrie. It’s all relative. I wish Tanev could of stayed. That’s the one that hurts my feelings. At the end of the day though if I was the Canucks gm I wouldn’t of made that deal either. I think this team on paper relatively healthy will make the playoffs. I also think now is the time where the prospects (fellas who are not regulars) will have to start stepping up if the Canucks are going to turn into the team we all want them to be. 3 excellent rookies 3 seasons in a row is a great start. Now the meat and potato grinder/depth forwards need to start being injected and at least 1 more prospect d-man needs to project to be a true top 4 guy. If you throw a handful of chili at the wall at least one bean has to stick. I’m personally happy no long term contracts were handed out. My perspective is “losing” at the UFA market means there’s nothing to panic about fixing. Perspective: I also thought Dallas was insane for signing a bunch of over the hill vets as well though. Haha.

I think it’s OJs turn to be the rookie this year. If you believe that he will step up and be an asset to the team it’s fairly easy to be content with this team on paper. Of course there’s a piece or 3 to be added and until they’re a perennial cup contender that will be the case.

Quality players to cheap low risk contracts. Who are you talking about? None of the ex-Canucks went that way except Stetcher who’s likely going to be on the top pairing in Detroit next season. Perhaps you should be a fan of the Wings and their fiscal responsibility if that’s what you value.

Ok. He also has straight line speed and really good hands. He’s fought injuries and adversity through his young career and he’s still a gamer. I’m sure him and the team he surrounds himself with knows a lot better what he needs to do to be better than you. If he didn’t ruin his back he likely would of won the Calder. Agreed. Let’s get some hype up videos showing all the tall foreheads saying they won’t get past Minny, St.Louis, won’t make it past game 5 against Vegas. Mike Johnson on NHL radio basically said it was 100% a given Vegas would win game 6. Happy for the fellas getting so far.

I’m agreeing with you. Just pointing out that the Sedin era was pretty messed up as well and at that time they did play possession so hard they needed an exorcism. Blown calls are blown calls. If you watch hockey get used to it.

And I think most of us couldn’t be happier with the run and gun style. I did love the Sedin era but it’s nice to see after so many years of the top line playing a possession game. Just to mess with you a little bit the Sedin era had tons (if not more) blown calls. Just saying playboy.

Jake has made a bunch of nice plays and scored 18 goals last season. I like Mac too though. I hope JV, AG, ZM is a line we see soon.

Jake drew a penalty as well and had a really nice chance. Fair is fair and few people see Jakes game for what it is. I’m not taking anything away from TT by saying Brock should be back where he belongs and that’s as lean mean Petey winging machine.

Is there a source for AG being a healthy scratch? Game 1 for me would of been lotto. Toff on line 2. JV, AG, Fer or Rooster. Sutter, Beagle, Motte. I could of stomached losing with those lines. That’s my point.

I’m not disagreeing about the PK. Fun fact to win you have to score some goals. Taking the Lotto line apart when it was finally healthy again and sitting an 18 goal scorer doesn’t make much sense to me if you’d like to actually score. I don’t hate Green. my hot take is he should of run this line up (or something very close it) from the start and maybe we would be celebrating a sweep right now. Just saying.

This is interesting. What if he refused to clear himself to play? What if he did clear himself but a sports psychiatrist didn’t? I can keep going but I’m not going to.

Ferland has enough skill set he could of taken a bit of the edge off and still been a very effective player. Sad for sure.
