These coaches, Desjardins, Green and Cull among many others are all fine coaches and can get guys going and win games. The thing that I feel makes all the difference for us at this point in our rebuild is the fine line between good and great. Do we really still want to be ok or good - or is it time for high gear?
I’m okay with Green, he seems like a nice guy to have around. But is nice and okay what we really need when we are finishing 26th or 27th again?
Green is a dick not playing Hoglander was a classless move

So a bunk player who never panned out,
A serviceable body who eats up minutes,
An up and coming young kid who still has a lot to give,
A nasty giant defenseman,
A former first rounder defensive specialist playing on the second line with our captain,
A Cup winning stabilizer toiling as 4C.
And the complaint is again?
One more year wasted

So what is so bad about that? For starters Pearson is 3.25 not 3.75. Loui will be sent down saving another 1.25. Looks like Beagle will be on LTIR saving another 3. That cuts it down to under 25% for 2 top six forwards, a top four defence man and a third liner. That means the only real bad contract there is Loui. Roussel is also over paid a bit.
Benning needs to be fired

Time to fire green this shows how stupid he is get your player out there to get a hat trick but no Green is a @ss hat.

The problem is JB had the right players but failed to sign them TT and CT both could have been retained and we would have been a playoff team.

Every game gaudette plays makes this trade look even worse.
4 points three games second star of the game.
How many mulligans does this guy get.
woukdnt be a trade deadline with out Jb throwing away a pick prospect for nothing just like it’s not the off season with out signing him a terrible contract.
I know FA needs a yes man puppet but geez a dead monkey couldn’t do worse.I bet my dog could do better . The problem is every GM knows that Benning is a easy target and bends him over and spanks him.

I agree about Toffoli but Gaudette is not a center in the NHL, and that Tanev contract will start to look bad on year three I think.
Maybe on Tanev but lots of D play well into their 30s as far as Gaudette maybe a little more development was needed but to give him away for nothing was a total waste. By the way a lot of Calgary fans think Tanev is their best D man

Yeah. Most of our cap problems will be solved by the following off-season season after this one. Still that's another year of grinding it out and we'll likely be going through learning curves with our youngsters. Could be another down year where we're picking high.
IMO the team needs a solid 3rd line C, a dynamic offensive RW and a top 4 RD in order to take that next big step. All other spots should be given to youngsters.
You mean Toffoli, Tanev and Gaudette right

There you go adding facts.
How annoying.
Confident, capable coaches don't shoehorn players into ill fitted roles. They put players in the role and with linemates who can maximixe their strengths and minimize their weaknesses.
Confident, capable managers do not build rosters where their coaches have no choice but to play guys in ill fitting roles.
You said capable this doesn't apply to Benning, Green try's to mold players into what he wants instead of utilizing their strengths. Watch and see how AG makes out in Chicago. We lost this trade big time, there seems to be a problem with management and player development plus Green is terrible at developing the youngsters.

Look at what happens in Ottawa when the owner doesn't care whether or not the team is competitive.
The problem is the owners and GM are on the same page, see village idiots .They are trying to money ball their way into a good team.

Unlike some people here, I don't believe Gaudette's recent point streak will last. His offense will be inconsistent like always, and he will likely be bouncing around multiple teams in the future. You know, kind of like Vesey, who was also highly touted.
I don't know what Gaudette some of you have been watching, but his offense isn't really his strength. Not at the NHL level. You can whine and cry about Highmore all you want, but this trade neither makes nor breaks this team. Stop overrating Gaudette.
What you talking about JB is the worst GM we have ever had. Gaudette will flourish in the windy what we got in return will be a foot note.

We aren't "screwed". Canucks are a young team and will be for another 3-4 years. Then we will be a mature team, with playoff experience (we'd better!), ready to contend. That's the cycle. Pearson won't be around for that. Neither will Myers. Probably not Miller and maybe not Horvat too. The team that we have that will contend with this core, won't look much of anything like this one does now. Think of this team like the one we had when Luongo first came in. Really it's not even quite there yet but close enough. That's where we are right now in our cycle. Except EP/QHs/BB have shown a lot more then the Sedins did ... Why this team reminds me more of our very early 90's team more then any other. Just don't have the quality of vets we did back then, but we have more young bodies so there is hope too. 12 million sitting on the bench should give this team a chance before their true window is even open.
Question is , are any of the management going to be here in 3 to 5 years ?

JB has no idea what he is doing. I have been a Canuck fan for 50 years and i see no light at the end of the tunnel .

I want to know what the frack Green has to do with this team! Jim Benning is the moron that has put this team together so stop with the Green bashing he is better then some worse than others. Dim Jim is the worst GM ever , we went from a playoff contender to potentially last place in 1 year. Jim is cooking what, rotten soup if Benning is not replaced we will see another 10 years of failure .

JB is the by far the worst JM . Asset management LOL . My dog could have done as well at the draft table. His scouts did their jobs not JB . Name one pick that JB was instrumental in picking ? Allso holding on to a player to long instead of trading him, JV and AG comes to mind . I think because he was a player he gives out bad contracts because he deems them to be fair. He needs to be a fearless negotiator not a push over. Its not in his DNA, wrong man for the Job will never bring us to the promise land . We need more size and grit, bigger meaner bottom 6 plus at least two D man that are big mean and mobile. Winnipeg would kill us in a 7 game series . Size and speed matters.
