Hughes lookin a bit cold this first period

That was pretty much the one thing that kept him out of a top 3 spot, aside from the russian factor/contract situation. He could be another high value pick like Hughes was.

[Signing] Canucks sign Micheal Ferland
westcoastsniper replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Interesting to note is that Ferland and Miller would have been 4th and 5th on Canucks scoring this season. -
Half agree with you. I think Tom Wilson doesn't fit into the old school goon category because he provides a lot of other utilities other than fighting. He played with Ovechkin and Kuznetsov quite a bit last season and did well in that spot.

In relation to the drops in his production in various leagues this season, all of the leagues he excelled and was over PPG in was NA ice. Bodes well for when we comes over. He's built for NHL sized rinks.

Interesting... I wouldn't trade our young high draft pick core players for NYs + the depth picks.. -

Given the Canucks picking trends the past few drafts towards skill / speed / character. I see these players as the ones they are targeting: 1. Krebs 2. Newhook 3. Zegras -

I think it's about where is the most ideal landing spot for the player not which is the best player for the team. -

2019 NHL Entry Draft in Vancouver, BC

Sounds like he wants to play in the NHL but is waiting until his game rounds out and also matures as a man. Probably going to take the Kuznetsov route. I think he feels he can develop his game more in Russia at this stage in his life and not worry about living in a new country, learning the language, etc.. -
Hope Pearson can solidify his spot on Bo's wing and get around 20+ goals next year.

Any way this guy will come to the AHL next season? We need centres down in Utica

Good thing about picking 10th is that we'll get either Soderstrom, Boldy, or Krebs. Also maybe someone falls that we don't expect. -

Interesting.. After seeing Krebs play a couple times, I would even rank him higher than tenth. He's shown great vision and IQ, similar to a Barzal/Point/Marner in terms of just playmaking to go with his high motor. I would be happy if he was available at 10th, however Soderstrom also peaks my interest at 10th. -
Pettersson has said himself he feels fine physically. It's probably just confidence thing when things aren't going in for him. I'm not seeing him try the dekes he would early in the season recently.
-
I thought he used his speed to forecheck well against defenders and caused some turnovers. Partnered with Bo and Leivo's amazing board strength and puck retrieval, could be a good match short term. Don't see much offensive skill from him though.
-
The fact the scouting team of Judd Brackett and Thomas Gradin wanted to draft him last year gives me hope he can pull a Tyler Madden. As far as I know his team is $&!# right now. His numbers could see a jump with better linemates.
-
Juolevi can compliment skill players like Pettersson and Boeser easily by getting the puck to them and making a great first pass. He's already scored at a good rate in 2 pro leagues (liga and AHL, although small sample size for AHL). I'm not worried about his offense translating, but his urgency in the d zone when hemmed in his zone is what's keeping him not in the NHL.

Vancouver Titans with the dominant inaugural game. 4-0

I would say we're probably in the playoffs w/ Hughes, but both him an Pettersson still need to develop into their potential for us to be cup contenders. I feel like we've yet to see the best from Pettersson.

One thing I noticed is that he often wont go deep into the zone to provide his offence, but gets his shots through from the point which ends up as a goal or an assist. This keeps him in a position to defend while keeping the puck deep and still contributing to offense. Good two-way play from him. Also a good complimentary to Hughes who often rushes up from the point and attacks the net.
