  1. 54% chance that a 3rd rounder plays one game in the NHL. Cap space is rivalling draft picks in trades now.
  2. Last thing I say about this. That rain you see lasts about 45 minutes, and then it is sunny again.
  3. There are shootings everywhere. Are you going to stay home because there is an infinitesimal chance that might happen? You know there are millions of people who call this place home and love it right? Bad things happen, and yes, that is unfortunate, but to not want to live here is your choice. The Amercian people are good people, and in Canada, we have been conditioned to disapprove of them and their beliefs because of what we see or hear about, but I have had nothing but good experiences here. The people are welcoming, we got plugged into a great church, and I have made friends quickly here that I can golf with weekly. My whole point in my original post was to say that America is not this cess pool of crime and danger. Some parts are, but those are the minority of places, not the majority. This is all I am going to say on this now. I have shared my real-life experience of living full time in this country. YMMV
  4. Uh yea actually. My wife and I drove down to Tampa back in December driving 3300 miles. You can have your opinion, but if your opinion is based off of what you see on TV or online, and you haven't actually lived here for a period of time longer than a couple of weeks, then you are making an assumption based off of secondhand info, and not your own experience. I'm living it and experiencing it, and we love it, and have no intention of going back. There are a lot of Canadians down here that feel the same way.
  5. Oh really? How long does it take you to see a doctor back home? I blew my groin playing men's league a few years ago, and it took me almost 2 years to get it repaired in Abby. I can get in right away if need be. I got taxed at 50% for the last few years, and I get taxed here max 25% before write offs. We aren't taxed to hilt down here like back home. My kid is 23 and once we get our green cards, he is getting his.
  6. Valid point, but it's kind of like when friends and family asked me why I wasn't concerned about hurricanes, I told them the same thing I will tell you. You can't live life in fear of what may happen. If your time is up, then your time is up. I'm not going to live in fear of what ifs. If you want to, then fair play to you, but I am going to live my life, and this place is an awesome place to do it.
  7. None of what you say is true. You listen too much to the media. I live it every day here, and it is awesome. I'm 48 and lived in BC my whole life, and until you get out and live in another place, you really can't have an opinion. Much like most of the people who will criticize what I posted originally.
  8. I left Vancouver for Florida in December on a work visa, and now am getting a green card. The opportunities down south are endless. Home prices are attainable for younger families. And before you go and spout off about "free healthcare" realize that your income tax dollars pay for your healthcare back home. I can definitely see why players would want to stay in the US. Oh, and Canada has its fair share of shootings too, so don't even go there.
  9. Used to be a stocking stuffer for me every Christmas! I loved it!
  10. They trade it to a team trying to get to the cap floor. I dont know what the cost will be, but it will not make any of us happy.
  11. This^ 100%. Bo isn't even in the same conversation as Linden was. Linden was the heart and soul of this team, and he nearly won game 7 for us with those 2 big goals.
  12. Trust me I know. I am at a trade show during this time. I am choked!
  13. Hey everyone, I just moved to Florida on a 3 year work visa, and I am hoping some of you tech savvy peeps can help me with figuring out how to watch Canucks games here? I have Spectrum TV and internet, and am looking for help to watch our boys, Seahawks, and Leeds United in the premiership. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, and Merry Christmas
  14. When you draft at that spot, you take the BPA. You don't draft for need!
  15. I would almost trade Boeser for just cap relief if possible. I love the kid, but he doesn't fit our desired team direction.
  16. The way I see it, is that this is an ownership issue. They spend to the cap(and that should be applauded), but they did not want to go through the pain of a rebuild, and kept trying to throw Band-Aids on the wounds. Gillis wanted to start the rebuild, but he was shut down, and later canned after a failed attempt at a coach change, when it was clear to everyone that this team's window had closed. Linden had the same idea, but ownership did not want to go through the rebuild, and here we are. I don't think that the owners are greedy, and wanting the revenue from 1 round of the playoffs, and then get bounced. They can simply come out ahead by not spending to the cap if this was all about money. The bottom line, is that this ownership group needs to keep their hands out of the running of the team's on ice product to the guys they hire, and not think that they know better.
  17. I had the stomach 8 years ago when it should have been done!
  18. Is this going to turn into the Tom Renny reign? 97-98 was dreadful, and got Pat Quinn fired.
  19. As a dad of two grown boys, I guess you pay until they are on their feet? That is what I am doing now, although I am not divorced.
  20. Breaking news... McDavid is seeking Eleventy Seven million per season for his next deal.
  21. Taking this guy really opened the door for us to grab Huggie, and for that, I am grateful!
