In the high-scoring 6-4 Knights Hurricanes post-game, Carolina's Head Coach found himself commenting on a question everyone in the Tar Heel State has been asking, what is Carolina doing with Petr Mrazek?
Mrazek signed a 6.5 million dollar deal and was reportedly promised significant playing time.
Yet to play a game, the prime-aged goaltender with something to prove has watched 36 year-old Curtis McElhinney of Sriracha sauce fortune fill the net with hundreds of saucy saves, leading the league in nearly every goaltending statistic, highlighted by seven shutouts.
The coach had the following to say about the goaltending situation "Look, we believe strongly in [Petr's] ability, but Curt is the dirt to our growing roster this year and I don't intend to rob these young budding players of their Curtilizer."
The General Manager looked displeased when asked about the Coach's remarks, but refused to comment.
Mrazek's camp has expressed displeasure with the situation on twitter.
With all of the disrupted soil in Carolina, it's tough to overlook the Hurricanes hot start lead by 19 year-old Andrei Svechnikov, the most successful 2018 pick yet.
EDIT: Tonight's game was McElhinney's eighth shutout.
