  1. Hypothetically, no team will give up what we gave to get Miller because we paid a premium which looks to be a lottery pick 2 years down the road. The Canucks are the worst team record wise over the past 4 years so the onus is on the Canucks to prove they can become a playoff team and not give Tampa what atm looks to be a lottery pick.....not the other way around which is what people have to understand here.
  2. Our fans are such homers and so delusional that they literally can’t think rationally without their emotions/bias/team pride get the best of them for a fair analysis.
  3. And for anyone that’s far up JB’s ass being that much of a homer who doesn’t acknowledge it as bad value, just think: We gave up more value to get Miller than NJ did to get Subban. Dmen are more valuable than forwards. Miller isn’t even a 1st liner whereas Subban is a top line dman and a Norris winner. ...perspective...
  4. I can’t believe people don’t have perspective. Obviously by “cap dump” it doesn’t mean it so literally for as if some useless player. It’s not different than had the Leafs had to move Nylander. He would be their quote on quote “cap dump” even though they’d still get a return. But it wouldn’t be the same return let’s say they would have got at the start of the year due to everyone knowing they’re stuck financially. Likewise, Miller like Nylander is a top6 (2nd line) player and would/could be used as sacrificed “cap dumps” for their respective teams. However, the Canucks paid a premium for Miller when it didn’t make sense to. And at the same time, the Bolts freed up cap (“cap dump” - again, not literally in this sense) and didn’t have to bite the bullet. We let them go Scott Free and even added a sweetener with a 3rd rounder. Terrible asset management and value by JB here despite getting a good player.
  5. Or at least do it and give the Leafs 1st, not ours which until proven wrong looks to be a lottery pick 2 years from now...
  6. Stop pretending like this was a good deal. JB overpaid like he does most times and he did to a team that was in cap trouble yet we even added a sweetener with a 3rd. Makes no sense and this trade has a lot of blow-back potential. Even This is a really stupid trade and leap of faith to make. It’s a productive 2nd liner we’re talking about who disappears in the playoffs.
  7. What’s scarier, the value we gave for Miller or the thought we now target a dman such as Myers or Gardiner in FA? :sadno:

Stralman would be the best fit in my opinion.

Id also try to sign a middle six UFA such as Connoly or Ferland

Id also consider weaponizing our cap a bit

      Lucic + Manning + Puljujarvi + 2nd

      for

      Eriksson + Hutton

      Anyone but Myers

i’ld like colin miller or the colorado d man. we are headed in the right direction.

  8. Thank you for explaining for me why others such as myself don’t like the lottery pick we’re giving away if we don’t make the playoffs.
  9. Nope, I’m talking about impact players such as Miller who can make us better now. Ok if not literally Zucker, I mean other similar impact players such as Zucker and Barrie. Just has to be an impact player like Miller is my point. So spending future 1sts for similar players in your own words is “losing your mind” but this trade isn’t? Seems a bit hypocritical if you ask me or anyone. And they’re not random targets, we’ve been linked to them as we were to Miller.
  10. Unvote vote OW sorry for inactivity this round mentioned earlier why and lots of drinks deep
  11. @DeNiro @oldnews @ others who are so for this trade and willing to give JB the benefit without looking at the consequences: Honest question here...if we don’t make the playoffs this year, why stop at the 2021 pick? Why not just give up the 2022 1st and 2023 1st for players like Zucker and Barrie while we can using the same logic you are to defend this trade? Edit: obviously if we make the playoffs it’s forgotten about but it’s a huge leap of faith so let’s not talk about that. I’m talking about the risk.
  12. We’ve been the worst record team for 4 years. Trading away a future lottery pick for a 2nd liner is borderline stupid and ballsy especially when you consider our defense is sound at best. Yes this trade is about JB wanting to save his ass and if it doesn’t work, it’s not his problem anymore.
