  1. I know I shouldn't be mean but I find he's just a horrible defenceman. Not Myers bad but close. He makes just as dumb mistakes. Just not as glaring and often. I wouldn't want him for free so I'm really hoping we don't sign him to some ugly 2 or 3 year deal.
  2. It appears no matter what the cap limit is the management group will push it to the limits. I would prefer to keep some extra breathing room for future improvements but it is what it is. It would definitely help although I'll believe it when I see it. I'm not so sure the players union is going to agree to giving up extra to make that happen.
  3. Backing yourself in a corner and giving away your assets to try to remain just above terrible is a poor plan though.
  4. The whole not wanting to wait for draft picks concept is staggering honestly. No wonder the team is in the state it is. As far as I know the Canucks will still have a team in 4 years.
  5. Hard pass Not remotely interested in this player.
  6. Sorry, I meant more longshots to make it. I am a huge Jett Woo fan and I'm glad to see the strides he made. He's still quite a longshot to make it. @hammertime makes a good point though too. We don't have any other expendable assets to get a top RD either . No one is trading us a 22 year top 2 RD for Boeser, Myers, and Garland. Having said that I can appreciate your stance and I prefer taking a forward as well if the right one is there. Would you take Dvorsky or Moore?
  7. At their ceiling yes but their actual potential is not considered very strong in comparison to other NHL prospects. Petterson is probably the only one on track to be a regular if his trajectory were to continue. Johansson could be anywhere, we haven't seen enough of him. Not bad prospects, but longer shots to make it.
  8. There's a lot of fluff there besides Petterson, and Johansson, imo. Hirose is promising. It should be mentioned RD, is not the same as LD so you can halve that list. Sasson (Dries, Aman) is also a Center. Between Raty and him it's pretty close. Your point still stands though, definitely more quantity there overall. We do need both.
  9. Pronman 5-15th 5. Danielson Smith Reinbacher But Barlow Honzek 11. Dvorsky Yager Benson Moore 15. Leonard Button 5-15th 5. Sandin-Pelikka Smith Sale Wallinder Dvorsky Barlow 11. Wood Leonard Ritchie Benson 15. Perrault Both are kind of all over the board. Pronman has us taking Dvorsky and Button has us taking Wood. I would take Leonard or Barlow. Dvorsky high on both if he slips.
  10. Heck, if Miller is going to be a Center for the next 4 years along with Petey maybe we're not so bad off going with a Leonard, Barlow, Wood, Sale, type who are big frame players and guys I predict could be in the show sooner, or later (1-2 years). In the case of Barlow he's almost ready to play now. Wouldn't he be a fantastic line mate for JT, with Miller's under-rated passing skills? Sale isn't far behind, and Leonard should be close too. The only one that needs to marinate is Wood, but he might progress quickly too. Everyone knows we need some more muscle ... but we need two way players too. Danielson would also be a playoff type guy that could probably handle a role sooner than later. The goal seems to be short term so yeah I guess that could work. Sure would be nice to replace Brock on Miller's wing with a 30+ goal guy who is physical and hardworking. A thing like this could be enough to push the team to a new level. with $5 mil of Brock's money available for a RD, 3C, or another top 6 guy.
  11. Leonard is my hope but I don't think he's going be there either. I think we're going to see some jaw dropping selections in the top 15.
  12. "The infrastructure is finally there, The team just has to stop buying and actually pick a year where they admit they shouldn't be buying and actually admit they are a team that needs to take a step back. I doubt its happening unfortunately." ^This 10000000000%. Stop just blindly chasing nothing at all costs, slow down, get your house in order, and go from there. So absolutely frustrating watching us buy and extend players these last 5 years when we had no chance of winning and were a crap team. Just imagine where we would be if we had planned for the future the last 5 years instead of burning every asset into the ground all in order to keep not making the playoffs. It was especially painful during the Covid years. I kept thinking why on earth is a bottom level team wasting assets on cap when people barely care, like the Canadian division year. It was the perfect time to reset the roster, which is what the smartly managed clubs did.
  13. Yes the line-ups people post are hilarious. They shouldn't pencil in guys unless they are a sure thing. That's just willfully ignorant. We have zero prospects I would currently place in a roster position except for E. Petterson, part deux, but even then I have him penciled in as a number #8 in 1-3 years time. Line-ups with Raty, Lekkerimaki, Hoglander, and Podkolzin, Kravstov, Hirose, McWard, and Brisbois, shouldn't be rolled out as a solution. I mean Hoglander, and Podkolzin are maybes for the 3rd and fourth line so maybe one or the other gets in but certainly not on the top 2 lines.
  14. https://www.recruitscouting.com/2023-nhl-draft-rankings-gabriel-foleys-top-100/
  15. If he goes. He might skip it because of that I suppose. It's June 4th, and 5th.
  16. That would be wild. I can't see it. They are proceeding with caution though. I didn't see the game but every time I see the hit I'm thinking why the heck is Reinbacher receiving a stretch pass for a breakaway.
  17. Yeah it might just be the thing that allows him to slide to us.
  18. Well this looks promising: https://www.swisshockeynews.ch/index.php/medical-feed/33150-the-knee-austria-worried-about-youngster-david-reinbacher The knee? Austria worried about youngster David Reinbacher The 18-year-old draft prospect from EHC Kloten left the game against Sweden early. But, apparently, it is nothing too serious. As the Austrian sports journalist Peter Karlik (Kurier) reports the morning after, no ligaments have been torn during the incident. Reinbacher will be out for tomorrow's game against Denmark, but a comeback seems possible. Andreas Haas David Reinbacher was taken to a hospital for further medical examinations. In the situation, it looked like he might have hurt his knee. As the Austrian sports journalist Peter Karlik (Kurier) reports the morning after, no ligaments have been torn during the incident. Reinbacher will be out for tomorrow's game against Denmark, but a comeback seems possible. Reinbacher, a member of EHC Kloten, is eligible for this year's NHL Entry Draft and is considered as one of the possible top picks.
  19. Yup, I would have to agree. Could you imagine the angst and hand wringing waiting for a knee injury to heal after our history? Our fanbase would probably have completely unreal expectations which could even lead to re-injury on his part trying to get back to soon.
  20. poor guy, that sucks big time. Does that mean he slides to 11, would we still pick him if it's an acl/mcl tear or something? Yikes!
  21. Damn, I just wish we had a couple second rounders.
  22. Yeah, he's fun to watch for sure. Too much money not enough PK, size, defence, or scoring for my liking though.
  23. We shall see. All players age differently but none are immune to it.
