Yup there were a lot of dummies out there that attached a bad record in Arizona to being a bad coach. It's quite silly in retrospect as they were a pretty poor, and young, rebuilding team. That's like expecting someone to win with Chicago. It's pretty hard to correlate a coach with their record in lots of cases. It's pretty dependent on the 23 guys+ you have to work with.

I get the feeling he's one of those guys that could almost walk in and handle being a pro right away. Not only that but do it well. Sneaky Czech flying under the radar so to say. A lot of people are getting so focused on centers it's almost like they're discounting wingers altogether at the top. A good player, or better player is just better. From the very limited viewings I've liked the total player he is. The only problem is there are so many options it just depends who gets pushed down.

No, just weed. But I do like Sale.

I think there is a fine balance here. They definitely need to reset some habits and build a good feeling, and keep playing hard but like you said it's going to be five months until they hit the ice together again. It's not like they're just going to pick up where they left off either. Unfortunately I don't see them sacrificing everything for draft position. We're going to win some games. Losing the right ones sure would help though. Realistically we're not getting into the top 5. 6 would be phenomenal, 7 or 8 would be great, nine is ok, lower kind of sucks a bit but there will still be lots of good players there. I'm guessing based on today that Smith is going to drop, possibly Michkov, and Benson. These are all really good players I could see going in any order after the top 3, which we won't get unless we win the lotto. So it's not as entirely bleak as you may think. Im (sometimes not so ) ho of course. Smith Benson Michkov Danielson Moore Sale Cristall Reinbacher Dvorsky But Barlow ASP Leonard Simashev Honzek

I'm not pushing the tank as hard as you but I'd sure like to get one of those players. I have a funny feeling a lot will change, the rankings will change, and there will be reaches. We'll probably still have a good chance at one of the guys you want anyway. I totally get the argument for helping it along though. Just out of curiosity who are your targets? Oh yeah, in regards to the bolded I agree 100%. I hear some people say our core is already drafted and in place. That's too bad if true because it's not very good. As you say you need more than 2 or 3 players to win it all in this league.

Will he though? That's a pretty big assumption. He has been nothing short of awful this year. He looks slow, beat up, and bored. -

We've been trying to trade these bums for two years. As others have mentioned if it was so easy it would be done and we wouldn't be having this conversation. Hopefully it's as easy as a lot of people seem to think. We shall see. I would be very happy to be wrong. -

I kind of did, kinda didn't. I'm not sure what they're going to do to get under the cap but if it's anything like the Dickinson move I'm a going to hate it. Obviously at this point picks are useless to our purpose so they'll be going out the window for help now. It is what it is. Again my concern is instead of waiting during these two years for the contracts to naturally fall off they are going to blindly push forward and make signings like the Pearson, and Dickinson just to use what little space they get as soon as they get it ... pushing us right back up against the cap yet again instead of waiting to see what we actually need if and when we are competing. -

Not bad the only problem is that is one garbage hockey team. Decent effort though on the numbers. Lol at that top 6. My grandma's beer league team has more grit and two way play. Imagine them in the playoffs. Priceless! -

Makes sense, Probably with either our first in 2023 (if that's possible?) or 2024 first with a cheaper defender in return. Then we'll really all be rocking and rolling and everyone will be having a good ole time. -
This guy is a bum. Hasn't impressed me at all so far.

People don't like to accept reality. They just do stuff like pencil Karlsson in as 3C, run with 20 players, or my favorite sign 2 top RD's for peanuts, trade Myers for nothing, sell OEL when his value is high, also known as nothing, and the same with Pearson, Boeser, and Poolman. And they say it with a straight face. Some people just honestly aren't good with numbers and think magic happens ... who knows with the others and oh yeah the cap is also going up 3 mil per year for the forseeable future. I'm glad none of these people are investing any of my money. That's for sure. Lekkerimaki Raty Karlsson Klimovich Aman Joshua That's a cup contending bottom 6 in 2 years for sure -

I'm at 44 years and I agree. Hopefully it works out. It's not like we have any choice but to sit back and hold on. -

But I can use what I've learned in past experience to be worried as someone who cares about the outcome just like I would with any other avenue of life. I'm sorry man, when I see warning signs I take notice, not just pretend everything will be fine. If these guys get it right while pushing madly ahead I will be less hesitant to worry about in the future. Does that not sound reasonable to you? -

No, I'm not jumping the gun at all. I'm going on the past 7 or 8 years of being cash strapped and not very good. If they can do it, which I concede is theoretically possible, great! I'm just going to be concerned the entire time because of our past history, and the recent history of this management group. Hopefully they can but I see the same people who have predicted how easy it would be in the past predicting the same again. At this point, I'll believe it when I see it. -

Don't shoot the messenger. We're up against the cap and still pushing in all our chips, like with Miller. I don't personally like or agree with the move but that doesn't really matter. What does is we're up against the cap, with no signs of slowing down, with a crap team is my point. Every year I look at the team we're missing pieces all through the line-up. Until we can learn to control our own spending I don't agree with that approach. -

No, but we might struggle to support him with quality pieces. Maybe if they refrain from any more big signings in the next two years but history of this team has me worried they will push their chips in and will be cap strung when we need it. -

This is the mistake we keep repeating. We jam every last ounce of cap into a mediocre team. Then when we invariably have to tweak the roster we have nothing left. Even great teams like Tampa and Colorado leave just enough room to maneuver at the TDL. We always end up stuck with massively ugly contracts, rife from pushing all of our chips in year after year before ever judging properly what we have/or need in the first place. It's always step on the gas 1000% ahead. Don't ever stop for a minute and think first.
