There is an article on acquiring Toffoli on Hockey Writers, they are suggesting paying less than this ..in the form of possible Baer and Goldy..I guess he has been a recent scratch ...but he did have chemistry with Pearson.

May be off topic a bit but we need to clear 3 million in cap space to bring Ferland and Sutter back off ltir...how ? Nobody wants any of the other pieces...baer, Loui, Sutter, Bragle. Tanev would seem to be the only piece other teams would want , yes he is hard to replace I never advocated trading him it was more about discussion..I love the guy but how do we deal with the cap too? Looking for answers.
-
Yes he is, we can't buy without cap space and Tanev is 4.5 against it..for a guy who over the last 3 years is off 1/3 of each season due to injury..I like the idea of bringing up Rafferty if a righty goes down..I hope Tanev stays healthy because like I said he pays the price but his record in the last few years isn't great..I guess it's the price you pay to win games.too bad he get hurt in the process
-
Why so much anger?? It was asking for opinions not like I am going to pull the trigger on the trade lol..if you check his stats it has his 2 games..regardless I agreed he had almost 0 experience..my concern if you read it was that based on his history he may not even be healthy when we need him the most..just discussion not making the deal I love Tanev's game..lighten up it's Christmas dude

Well Rafferty did play a couple of preseason games so not 0 but close , had an assist -1, had several teams interested in him and he chose to come to Vancouver. I never saw Chris Tanev play before his first game in the nhl either. But he played down in Manitoba for a couple of seasons and didn't have as good a numbers as Rafferty. Sooooo
-
I agree I have always loved Tanev's play without the puck and willingness to sacrifice his body, my fear is over the last 3 years he has averaged 50 games played, he has played all 29 so far, will he be healthy when we need him anyway? To me it feels like he struggles with the puck and makes more bad choices than in the past. Anyway just wanted to put it out there to see how others felt.

Like I said let's see how the season plays out.....I still believe Max is over valued but would be a great addition to the canucks and primarily with Bo...playing with good players can make all the difference..just ask JT Miller averaging a point a game...a long way from where he was.
-
Well Jake got a point tonight on he third line Max went pointless again..I guess we will see how Max finishes the season..my bet a FAR cry from 72 and closer to Jakes projected 40.
-
Ya because Bo needs the Chemistry...and Jake needs the change
-
Well he playing second line for now let's see if that changes..too bad he doesn't get the pp time in front of the net...point is as of now I think Domi is over valued.
-
Well Domi is on pace for 50 points look it up ...remember 1 good year.. before that his best year was 52 oooooohh..Jim Benning has based many a bad trade or acquisition based on a player having 1 good year...press boxes are full of them lol
-
Domi has 7 goals in his last 53 games, Jake has 11 goals. Domi plays 5 minutes more on average per game than Jake, he plays with the likes of Jonathan Drouin not Tyler Motte, Domi plays power play avg this year 43 seconds per game, Jake plays 6 seconds per game average. Domi has been moved back to the wing to and I quote "make room for the real centres on the team like Suzuki and Jesperi Kotkaniemi, Ryan Poehling. My argument is the honeymoon is wearing off in Montreal and I wonder if Jake could have 50 points a year playing on the top line...my guess is if he skated north and south with his stick on the ice or stood in front of the net on the power play he could probably let the puck bounce off him and get the extra 18 points that Domi gets, and oh ya an extra 5 minutes of ice time per game would help. So your right I wouldn't make that trade either!
-
Yes if you take size and speed out of the equation and place value strictly on points, but not all trades made in any sport are based entirely on a player's ability to generate points. Not every trade is made with both players having equal amounts of points generated over the same amount of contests. Most trades are based on a team's positional needs and potential each player has of contributing to the improved success of the team. I may be off a little on the Value of Jake to Max but WAY out I don' think so.
-
Well he only has 5 more than him this year and it's not Jake that is having a career year, I guess we will have to wait until the end of the year to see where it all shakes out, but yes you are probably right that we would need to sweeten the deal, and Max did play wing so it's not a stretch to see him return to playing that position
-
Well he is on pace for 18 this year and the press boxes are full of guys who had a great season..just ask loui,
-
Lol you'll have to google Throckmorton...nickname given to me many years ago As for Jake, I believe he has less points this year than he did the same time last year, goals anyway. He has not turned into the power forward we had hoped, I still remember a few times when he drove wide with his speed and cut to the net scoring, why he does not use his speed more driving to the net baffles me. Regardless, Montreal is struggling and needs to do something to shake things up and might be willing to move Max, Jake offers size and speed if they can bring it out of him. What if we threw in Goldy or Baer, they have the cap space

Trade Jake Virtanen for Max Domi Relatively the same age, points etc. But Max is is great friends with Bo, they have a history and a great friendship, might be the perfect line mate, and let's face it Jake progression has halted in Vancouver.
