  1. Would love to flip both 2nd rounders this year and get into the first round, or trade Tanev for a first + asset. I can see one of those good D-men falling to 15-20 range, and i'd love to nab one (Liljegren, Foote, MAYBE Makar?)

      I don't see why not.

Rebuilding team, would rather give the spot to a guy who can be here when we're good enough for a long period of time.

For example: Trade Tanev for a top 15 pick. Take Liljegren/Foote.

      Next season:

      Stecher - Edler

      Sbisa - Juolevi

      Hutton - Gudbranson

Then in 3-4 years when we're ready to compete for a playoff spot, we're looking at:

      Player (Age)

      Stecher (26) - Juolevi (22)

      Hutton (27) - Liljegren/Foote (21)

      Gudbranson (28) - Filler Dman/J. Subban

This is of course assuming no player movements or extra D-men are drafted in that time period which is probably not reasonable.

I think that's a lot more solid than a 32-33 year old Tanev moving forward who could be in the tail end of his prime.

Solid points. A 27 year old RD should be on ANY contending teams radar. This dude even knows how to play in the SCF.

Plus you never know, we could end up getting Tryamkin back down the road when the team finds success.

Absolutely Xbox. On the same page, especially on the Tryamkin comment

  2. Canucks need to jump on this Quick injury opportunity and deal Miller to LA... Miller's wife lives in LA, he's a UFA after the year so his contract comes off the books, perfect fill-in for LA and we could get some assets back in return and let Markstrom run with it. IMO, it's a great opportunity.

  3. This is such a ridiculous argument I grew up in Vancouver. Naslund was my favorite player, but I also idolized Zigmund Palffy. Now why would a kid from Vancouver idolize Zigmund Palffy? Because I enjoyed the way he played? Because I love the game of hockey? I loved his speed and unique talent? He never played for the Canucks and he CERTAINLY was not a better player than Naslund in the early 2000's... What's the big deal? Of course a kid can idolize a hockey player from across the country. You seem to forget that in their hey day, there was nobody who could stop the WCE. They were constantly in contention for scoring titles. Nobody could match Naslund's shooting ability or Bertuzzi's pure strength and hands. So yes, he probably did grow up idolizing them.
  4. Didn't we bring in a guy like Desjardins BECAUSE of his skill with respects to developing younger players? So why not put it to use? Give the kid a shot
  5. If you guys are talking about johansen, I grew up with the kid in Port Moody. He's a loyal guy and loves colombus but I'll tell you Right now there isn't a day that he doesnt think about playing for his home town
  6. Admittedly that was a great play, but his overall game was hard to watch. He was on a 3 on 2 with mcdavid and lazar and shot it off the half boards into demkos chest. He missed atleast 4 passes and stick handled his way into the defensemans skates atleast twice more. As I said, huge Virtanen fan but he was not good tonight in his role
  7. Am I the only one who was pulling my hair out watching this kid play today? I'm a huge Virtanen fan, think we made the right choice and supported him all the way up to the draft But let's not sugarcoat it. The play died on his stick tonight, he looked so lost out there, and he was floating more than he was engaged. Looking for him to bounce back next game
  8. Anyone know exactly what time Free Agency opens? Is it at noon or midnight?
  9. So what you're SAYING is you no longer want to be a Canucks fan? HALLELUJAH! Here's a parting gift, and please don't let the door hit you on the way out. See you in a decade!
  10. To be honest, people say Boston's players are jerks. Same goes with the Kings players. I'm so hungry for a cup I don't even care anymore. If they win games, they can be whoever they wanna be
  11. No no no no no no no. Keep the 6th. Shinkaruk will be an absolute stud and he loves being a Canuck. Look at his twitter page, all he does is talk to Canucks prospects and talk about the Canucks. He's the type of guy who will stick with this team for a long time. And he's got plenty of skill to boot. Keep the 6th. Take Ehlers or Nylander, keep shinkaruk.
  12. Quick everyone! Let's follow the Montreal model! Ehlers! Raymond!
  13. for those of you around in 94 and were old enough to remember, did we hate the rangers more after that series or the bruins more after 2011? mean did we hate the rangers as much even 3-4 years after the fact?

      Never really hated the Rangers.

      Warhippy

The hate was solidly with the Rangers honestly, I mean how do you cope with not a full season later dealing with the captain and keenan of the Rags coming over and then immediately stripping Linden of the C before shipping him out?

    4. Tearloch7

      Tearloch7

dark and dreary days indeed .. hated Messier mostly, and of course the Bruins now.

  14. Remember the Cody Hodgson fiasco? Where he was worked so hard his first year his back gave out? Probably avoiding a similar mistake
  15. Linden: "I want to talk to some candidate GM's in the playoffs, keep in mind they might even make it to the finals so it could take a while" - Benning anyone?

Benning would truly be great for the club I agree

    4. Henrik Kesler

      Henrik Kesler

Please be Benning. I just hope Gilman is kept on too because if not, he'll find a job pretty quickly and kill it wherever he goes...unless he goes to Edmonton.

  16. I hate losing just as much as the next guy, but a part of me wants us to just lose out a) For a good draft position B) So SOMEBODY in this organization can finally wake up and make changes and c) Because I don't want mediocrity to be justification for no changes. I want us to fall flat on our faces so we can rebuild, and rebuild right.

5th this year won't get us as much as we paid for a 9th last year. I'm not sure anyone out of the top 4 this year would have been in the top 15 last year.

I guess you never know, right? Look at Seth Jones last year, he dropped to 4th. Who knows what could happen
