Inflation jumped higher last month, to 3.3%

Canada's inflation rate bucked its recent trend of slowing last month and instead rose at a 3.3 per cent annual pace in July, Statistics Canada said Tuesday.

That was an increase from 2.8 per cent the previous month. Gas prices were a major factor pushing up the inflation rate, mostly due to what economists call the base effect.

But Freeland thinks it's going down and we're headed in the right direction. How do we have a minister of finance that has zero financial background? Should we not have professionals that are highly trained running things and making decisions?

When a countries biggest cities’ economies are all dependent on growth, housing starts, then it’s pretty much a Ponzi scheme. The Canadian economy is soon to collapse. Can’t have high interest rates with so much consumer debt in the for of mortgages.
    We are doomed.

100%, sadly a whole lot of people are going to get caught in a bad spot.

My wife always says housing should be off limits when it comes to investing or a way to generate incone. Housing should be affordable to all Canadians

I live in Calgary (at least for the next two months) and things are insane here too. Housing has been so hot the past couple of months.

I became debt-free (not including my mortgage) in September. Talk about great timing!

Anyway, I'm selling my house and most of my possessions and moving to Abu Dhabi for at least two years. I figure I'll ride things out there until Canada calms the hell down and then maybe I'll move back.

I'm in Calgary too, its stupid. I was reading 25,000 people every 3 months are moving here, its completely unsustainable and thats why its getting so crazy, there isnt close to enough housing here. We're moving to Red Deer, everything is cheaper, housing, gas, insurance.... Good luck to you in Abu, its got to be better there than it is here, this country is going insane

Was Bo the “elephant” in the room? Miller took a discount at 56 million.  And Miller had the much better numbers.

I've been saying for ages that it looked to me like Horvat was the issue, all you have to do is look at the team culture, or lack there of.  Looks like management didn't think he was the guy to lead this team to the holy grail, I'm glad this is over and hopefully they can put together a group that will go through hell and back for each other

  5. Bo was offered a contract from what I understand was around the 7.5 mill per year, he turned it down so he chose to leave. There is no way in hell this management group should be giving him anymore than $7.5M. Everyone says how great a captain he is but I simply don't see it.

what if its not about money?

and Bo just keeps turning them down

what should the management do then?

Im not saying it is or isn't about money, I'm not privy to what's going on. I was asking what the max limit is ?? What's acceptable?. What if its only about money and Bo keeps turning them down?? Then what does management do??

Not sure why everyone is expecting horvat to be the best player on the ice. He doesn’t have to be. Just keep winning face offs and play well defensively. He’s the 3C

7.5 million is a bit much for a 3c faceoff guy IMO

CDC drops quarantine, distancing recommendations for COVID-19

The changes, which come more than 2 1/2 years after the start of the pandemic, are driven by a recognition that an estimated 95% of Americans 16 and older have acquired some level of immunity, either from being vaccinated or infected, agency officials said.

this is all so stupid. If covid was related to what this person said, there wouldn't have been a vaccine.

Maybe the vax is what they're using for depopulation through sterilization and the covid is to get everyone to take it?? Jim Jones got everyone to drink the koolaid didn't he? ... anyways, just a ridiculous theory I read somewhere, I'm sure its crap.... but what if it's not??
