  1. If he goes, we should see less goals deflecting off of him. But what I like, to be honest, is that by not signing him it will free up $6-million. Now if he was getting just his base salary of $1-million with incentive based bonuses, we would make that deal any day of the week. But I firmly believe he won't receive a $10-million bonus this time around from any team period. Think that is what JB is thinking.
  2. At the time many on here predicted that he would never finish his 14 year contract. New CBA comes in and Weber signs for 14 years hoping to fulfill that contract versus LTIR and/or early retirement. But ten years in and things happen. Nashville gets away with avoiding recapture and Montreal gains with LTIR. But as Luongo once said, "My contract sucks.". Prophetically true.
  3. You can still have the lottery with that set up because it is based on seasonal play and that won't need to change. It is about seating every team and giving them a chance to compete for the Cup. In Canucks lore we celebrate our below .500 team that made a playoff run into the Stanley Cup final-that would never happen in today's NHL. Heck, back then even having a coin toss to see who got home ice advantage seems to undermine seasonal success.
  4. It is fresh. These divisions would work. I would like to see every team make the playoffs just by adding a new playoff tier. It would significantly increase team revenues as playoff games are actually payoff games for the respected clubs. We now have the symmetry that can allow for this.
  5. I agree with your assessment of the Flames. But it also makes me wish for the old Northwest division. We feasted on teams like Calgary, Minnesota, and Edmontonw and others. Then all of that abruptly changed with the new CBA. I love these new days and the genesis of greatness that is starting to blossom.
  6. Too bad they won't play for the Canucks again. Their magic on the third and/or fourth line would change the dynamics of our team. But as mentor coaches for this younger team is invaluable.
  7. An exciting signing by GMGB. Hope his skills translate well to the NHL, Coach Green is fair, and the local Russian Mafia leave him alone.
  8. If convicted, he kisses any chance of entering into the USA goodbye. It asks on your visa and/or entry documents if you have ever been arrested or convicted for a crime. And during the intervew, you will be informed about whether they will or will not allow you entry, especially with these moral turpitude issues. Tthe Canadian standard seems to be higher. As a Texan, I believe in equal protection under the law. That is why I think the parents of these undocumented minors illegally crossing the border need to be charged with parental neglect and endangering the welfare of a minor. Because if you or I let our kids walk aroiund the block, we would be charged with a felony--true story. But if Jake wants to enter, he should find a spot and walk over. But back to Jake, I worked with someone who played for the Blackhawks. He sold cars and was making great money. But he lost his way through the bottle and the team let him go. He was a great guy but he had lots of regrets for the mistakes he made playing through the bottle.
  9. It is the challenge/dilemma of drafting Russian players. They have options. We just could not match what he wanted, nor would he gain the benefit of tax free money in Canada. It is a disappointing shame.
  10. People like to talk money. Back in the mid nineties I worked for the Calgary Flames. Each playoff game we almost sold a million dollars worth of beer.
  11. Hospital affiliations impact a physician's creative individualized telemedicine abilities. Because of the type of money involved, software giants are vested to enable adaptation of telemedicine--Lemonaide, K Health, Epic, Engage, LiveHealth, and WebMD are some of the brands. Hospital affiliations have concluded through cost benefit analyses that paying for a license is cheaper and more productive, and it is more integrative than trying to create something new. And having an overall integrative platform like Epic makes everything so much easier from a practice management process.
  12. Access to care is a challenge, but not an impossible one. Here in the US, adaptability in the COVID crisis has changed how doctor's work and healthcare is implemented. I mean, with an app I can be on my cellphone and speak with a doctor, get a diagnosis, prescribed medication, all within a half hour. This type of care is not meant to supplant primary family medicine. I do not know what the solution is in Canada, we just need Scrubs to come back on TV.
  13. Canucks could choose to forfeit those games. Let the team decide to do what they want. I am comfortable with giving those games up but one consideration is player salaries because they are based on games played. But as the draft is concerned, the league will do whatever is in their power to prevent the Canucks from getting the first pick.
  14. I went to church with the Beagle family, and got to know his parents and grandparents really well. Jay was a kid when I worked for his father in his dad's auto repair business. Al played rec hockey in Calgary when he got sidelined with a severe ankle injury. Basically at speed he had got his skate caught under the dasher board because the ice and board was not level in the corners. Freak and painful accident. But in keeping with the Beagle's work ethic, his dad was back at work with in days. And I will never forget seeing him hop around the shop with and without crutches. I also worked my summers around his grandfather. He ran a farm and worked constructing underground electrical distribution systems and traffic intersections. Tough and grueling work. But Ivan would out work people forty years younger. The Beagles have always had a blue collar meat and potatoes approach to work. I am so blessed to have know them, as that family had a tremendous impact on my life and my work ethic.
  15. After taking graduate level statistics, I can tell you this. When people start throwing out stats, most people start thinking about beagles chasing rabbits.
  16. That is why I stopped paying my NHL.tv subscription. Can't do much about NHL Network because they are still playing Canucks games. Loving Dish Network.
  17. First time arrestees for DUI in Michigan are safe. Most cases plead out with fines and community service.
  18. Hard to focus in Vancouver. Would be even harder with the Disney Mighty Ducks. But being apart of a large metropolitan area would allow him to be somewhat invisible versus his magnifying/microscopic glass in Vancouver.
  19. Generally speaking, because of management decisions we are forced put all of our eggs in one basket. Makes it too easy.
  20. Time to cancel the NHL.tv subscription for this year. I don't want to support a team financially for nights like this. This is a hard decision to make, but after 41 years I finally need an emotional break.
  21. We need a JJ Watt on our team. Has enough speed to take away time and space, while working his size in the intimidation game. Do you really want to go through a player like that? It was a question like that the Sedins intimated that some European players had playing against Chara. Cannot blame them.
