  1. CDCGML 2017-18

Ugly times in Montreal right now. Severe under-achievements from multiple players, combined with numerous demotions, healthy scratches and injuries, has positioned the Habs near the bottom of the CDCGML and well off the pace in the difficult East. Management is about to embark on a scouting mission overseas, so the team will be left to their own devices to figure this out with the coaching staff, but unless something big changes by American Thanksgiving next week, expect MAJOR changes in Montreal, including with perhaps management.
  2. CDCGML 2017-18

Activation: The Habs activate Adam Lowry from the LTIR and place him on the active roster.
  3. CDCGML 2017-18

Recall: The Habs call up Zach Redmond from North Dakota.
  4. CDCGML 2017-18

Current Habs Lineup (which is a bit of a mess at the moment...) Domi - Eakin - Neal Galchenyuk - Patrick (DTD) - Eberle Roussel - Gibbons - Connolly (DTD) Nieto - Soderberg - Dano Burns - E. Johnson Santini - Dotchin Hickey - Theodore Lundqvist Neuvirth Lowry and Stoner on IR. Blais & DeAngelo in the minors (assignments posted already in thread).

Gibbons to the main roster, please. We’re very pleased to have Brian join us, as we’re in dire need of some NHL skaters due to injuries and demotions. He’ll slot in in our bottom-6. Assignment: Tony DeAngelo has been assigned to North Dakota.

A decent Tuesday night has silenced some of the critics in Montreal for at least a day, but a few more of these will be required to ease the concerns. Still, with DeAngelo and Theodore in the minors, Nolan Patrick hurt, Marko Dano a near permanent resident in the press box and with Nieto and Soderberg occasionally joining him, times are rough in La Belle Province. Names like Erik Johnson, Antoine Roussel, Cody Eakin and James Neal have been rumoured in trade talks, though the organization has offered nothing but "no comments" up to this point. And with Brent Burns currently in the final year of his deal? Stay tuned...

Ha ha. Tony DeAngelo now joins Shea Theodore in the minors in the latest edition of "WTF?" So much for our defensive depth at the NHL level. Things continue to look bleak in Montreal. Teams looking for veteran help may be wise to start scouting our games...
  8. CDCGML 2017-18

Assignment: Habs send Samuel Blais to North Dakota.
  9. CDCGML 2017-18

Concern is growing in Montreal, as slow starts nearly around the board have us floating near the bottom of the standings despite our team being at nearly full health. It's a bit of a balancing act here for the Habs, with a bunch of solid veterans and a bunch of young kids, but if things start to tip to one side it will be towards the direction of youth. Unless things turn around in the next few weeks, expect the Habs to start evaluating where the veterans fit going forward. Consider this a shot across the bow to the dressing room...

The Habs would like to thank Blake Comeau for his tenure here in Montreal and wish him well in Tampa. At the end of the day, he was a player who we felt would be desirable enough for a team to take on at his salary and to be perfectly honest we needed the cap relief. With the newly-found cap-space, look for the Habs to explore free agency for a player or two.
  11. CDCGML 2017-18

Recall: Pending an LTIR placement, the Habs recall Samuel Blais from North Dakota.
  12. CDCGML 2017-18

Waivers: The Habs place Blake Comeau on waivers.
  13. CDCGML 2017-18

Woof. Rough start in Montreal. Galchenyuk moved down the lineup, Dotchin scratched in his first game, Theodore sent down to the minors (WTF?), Dano and Nieto scratched today, and no goalie points yet. Changes could be coming in a hurry for the capped-out Canadiens, who are already icing a lineup down a roster player due to our accounting error earlier this year...
  14. CDCGML 2017-18

Activation: Habs activate James Neal from the IR.

So our cap-issue wasn't realized until today, after some of the roster got flipped around for our opening-night roster, as our cap formula was missing a slot and wasn't calculating a big-ticket contract. We take responsibility for this though, as we were spending money without double-checking our cap situation and making sure that everything was good. After going over the roster, Braydon Coburn was one of the salaries that was deemed expendable to get cap compliant, and interest in him around the league was high. We wish him very well in Columbus and hope that his landing spot there is good for both him and the Jackets. We also welcome Seth Helgeson to the fold, as we feel that he can provide some balance and leadership on the farm at a palatable cap-hit. Roster Moves: Helgeson will go to North Dakota, DeAngelo will go to the 3rd pairing.
