  1. He did ok last year so I had hopes he’d continue like he did. Obviously I’d expect more value in return as he is definitely not a bad player. The contracts and cap determine trade value, not the actual player. Sounds funny when you say it, but it’s been like this for ages.

Glad we cleared some cap. 5th rounder really doesn’t feel like anything big.

  2. My profile tells me I’ve been around t CDC for 18+ years. Sad to see it go.

Sometimes I hoped CDC would be offline during the summer as things got pretty messy then, with all the fans having no action but I’m sure going to miss this place. Even with the new one in place.

    Thanks CDC and members.

Interesting to see he had a career high in the AHL last year.

Wish we had've kept him in our system. Think he kinda fell through the cracks. He had that killer season in Utica. I was like, why are we ignoring this guy in our own system?

Always thought he deserved longer look with us.

True. But we did gove him that first shot and first deal that helped him get the foot in the door so I doubt he’s unhappy with us right now.

Not sure if anyone posted a reply yet, but the Canucks used 16 defencemen in 2022-23 and 13 defencemen in 2021-22.

EDIT: just for comparison’s sake, looking at our closest geographical rivals (a random choice, although somewhat appropriate, given travel and it’s possible effect on injuries/durability), last season the Oilers used 11 different Dmen, the Flames 10, and the Kraken needed only 9 defencemen for the whole season.

That is how it has been for ages now. And it’s not a joke that the travel we endure vs. pretty much everyone else in the league takes a toll on guys. In a more perfect scenario, we would need alot more guys in reserve and more rest and play everyone 70 games so they would be closer to 100% when they hit the ice. And when we eventually get to the postseason we’d have something left in the tank.

  5. I won’t mind it one way or another but I hope Martin starts the year as backup and if he kan keep it together as a backup, I’d definitely give Silovs another full year in the AHL.
I still think Spencer was put in a too big of a position to handle. The workload was too heavy. I feel like he could be a solid number 2 still.

oh, and the signing. Never heard this name before or haven’t paid attention at least - so let me google a bit here…
