Go Team!

He did ok last year so I had hopes he’d continue like he did. Obviously I’d expect more value in return as he is definitely not a bad player. The contracts and cap determine trade value, not the actual player. Sounds funny when you say it, but it’s been like this for ages.
Glad we cleared some cap. 5th rounder really doesn’t feel like anything big.

So happy that when I check in every now and then, the place is still up-and-running

Ironic that the only thing keeping this place alive is the fact it won’t die.
CDC? Do You Really Need Us?

This place still running?

I really like this.
I’d trade a 3rd to get a good goalie tandem any day and I think we got that here. Moving Tanner and cap was just a bonus.
Me likes!

My profile tells me I’ve been around t CDC for 18+ years. Sad to see it go.
Sometimes I hoped CDC would be offline during the summer as things got pretty messy then, with all the fans having no action but I’m sure going to miss this place. Even with the new one in place.
Thanks CDC and members.

I think I can speak for quite a few of us here when saying that I did not expect we’d have to close the whole forum to get an end to this topic. I didn’t see that coming.

Every young Finnish boy grows up dreaming of playing for the Leafs.
Didn’t you know?
I didn’t. I wanted to play for the Canucks. While it is apparent I got neither done, it still a sad story even if I was never close and never put in the work it would have taken.
Now, looking back - I would have been ok with the Leafs too.

Let it go.
The thread is so exhausted, you need to let it sleep.

Agree on Borgen. In two years, Willander should be making his NHL debut, with D-Petey not too far behind. Nice to have some decent d prospects coming up for a change
I really hope DP won’t be his nickname.

Definitely a nice gesture, but I for one did not expect him to swap numbers. Good character guy.

I think CHI will pick him up. Maybe playing with Bedard will get his goal scoring back.
Chicago will get a lot of bench minor penalties if they try to play this many guys with Bedard all the time

Interesting to see he had a career high in the AHL last year.
Wish we had've kept him in our system. Think he kinda fell through the cracks. He had that killer season in Utica. I was like, why are we ignoring this guy in our own system?
Always thought he deserved longer look with us.
True. But we did gove him that first shot and first deal that helped him get the foot in the door so I doubt he’s unhappy with us right now.

Dammit ppl! I came to this topic excited and was gonna say let’s give him a shot. Now you all ruined it for me and turned me against him

Not sure if anyone posted a reply yet, but the Canucks used 16 defencemen in 2022-23 and 13 defencemen in 2021-22.
EDIT: just for comparison’s sake, looking at our closest geographical rivals (a random choice, although somewhat appropriate, given travel and it’s possible effect on injuries/durability), last season the Oilers used 11 different Dmen, the Flames 10, and the Kraken needed only 9 defencemen for the whole season.
That is how it has been for ages now. And it’s not a joke that the travel we endure vs. pretty much everyone else in the league takes a toll on guys. In a more perfect scenario, we would need alot more guys in reserve and more rest and play everyone 70 games so they would be closer to 100% when they hit the ice. And when we eventually get to the postseason we’d have something left in the tank.

I’d say this is a pretty good signing for the Pens. He had a pretty tough go last year but he’s still got potential.

Tough journey for him since Montreal, and now on a two-way. Never a big fan but I thought he was gonna pan out much better.
-
If someone has the energy to look up how many defensemen we use per year, that should clarify why we sign guys like this. We have had so much injury trouble on the backend for the last 20 years, that we all know we have to have options here.
He might be old, but not obsolete.

I won’t mind it one way or another but I hope Martin starts the year as backup and if he kan keep it together as a backup, I’d definitely give Silovs another full year in the AHL.
I still think Spencer was put in a too big of a position to handle. The workload was too heavy. I feel like he could be a solid number 2 still.oh, and the signing. Never heard this name before or haven’t paid attention at least - so let me google a bit here…

Ah yes. The infamous forum closure lurking around the corner. In before it’s too late. Again.
