  1. I'd be upset if Connor dropped to our spot and we passed.
  2. He's a lot better off playing, and for now that is in Calgary. He won't play every game in Utica, it will be hard for him to even draw into the lineup.
  3. thanks Johan...that was a nice set up!
  4. you werent kiddin' about the nice shot.
  5. I too was hoping for Merrill and/or Quinton Howden. No body actually knows this....everyone believes it to be true, but I am not so sure....Tinordi does not seem like a Gillis guy at all....he may have character, but he doesnt have the other CHARACTERistics that Gillis covets in a prospect. I cannot recall when the trade was announced, but players I think Gillis wanted at the time are: Schwarz, Sheahan and Bennett.
  6. Because Hakan Andersson has a lot of respect in the Detroit organization, and consistenly value his scouting opinions. Gradin is no slouch, but I dont think he has as much pull in Vancouver, or didnt before. Could you imagine if Detroit had Edler right now? Thank god Nonis listened to Gradin there. About Detroit, I dont think there 2010 draft could have went any better than scripted....Sheahan, Jarnkrok, Aubry, and Pulkinnen in the 1st 4 rounds is sick.
  7. Johan, Would you say Rodin is the 3rd wheel on that line, or is he the one that makes it go? In my head i have it 1. Jarnkrok, 2. Rodin, and 3. Silfverberg, is that accurate. Since it seems you watch him play, can you make any comparisons to an NHL player? perhaps for all 3. Cheers
  8. Not if you want to win the cup or not get pushed around by Chicago. Flip Schneider+ to St Louis for Backes and play him instead of Schroeder or Hodgson for that matter then I think that goes along way in terms of size, speed, and grit. Put Hamhuis/Michalek or Niedermayer on the Blue-Line and we have a contender for sure. The above 3rd line situation looks more like a winner in 2-3 years.
  9. Why? Not many Swedes come over and start their careers in the AHL, they season themselves in teh SEL, and come over when they are almost ready for the NHL. Rodin is at least 2 years away from a roster spot with the Canucks. I see no problem letting him develop in Sweden, but also keeping a watchful eye on his strength and conditioning, which is what I think is his limiting factor right now. He isnt strong. Our prospects are in constant contact with Gagner and the developmental staff, Im pretty sure they realize he has a contract through next season, which he is VERY likely to see through.
  10. eliteprospects.com, dont be lazy
  11. There is a window after the draft when undrafted players can be signed, a la Tochkin. Also Justin Taylor(Capt. of the London Knights) who attended prospects camp had the same oppurtunity but didnt make it. Players do have to declare for the draft, Raymond didnt his first year of eligibility to increase his stock for the next year.
  12. Pre-lockout Iginla was approximately 225lbs, he only dropped the weight post-lockout when speed became more important. Not that that has anything to do with Jordan Schroeder, it was just incorrect.
  13. Watching that video has me so psyched for the 2010 draft. Looking forward to another steal by Gillis and Co.
  14. we have also seen what size has done for the Sharks and Flyers in the playoffs too! Yeah, Obviously everyone would love to have a team with 12 Getzlaf/Thornton's.....they arent that common. I take first line skill no matter what size over a 6'3" 3rd liner. To defend tatoes, when Detroit won the cup, both Franzen and Holmstrom were in their top 6 and both were over 6'1".
