  1. Joined CDC in 2006. Not sure how to put it into words but this is a sad day.

Thanks to all the mod volunteers who kept this site going.

Gonna be weird not knowing what some of yall thought about the game, as dumb as it all was it sure was fun.

What qualified hockey person is going to want the damage to their reputation by taking a GM position working for a complete idiot who destroyed the previous franchise he was with?  Pittsburgh deserves what happens next with this incompetent dweeb.  It's going to take a decade to undo the damage he causes once he's replaced with someone who understands the sport.

I listened to the interview. Seems like even Ottawa has a couple of parasites the equivalent of Thomas Drance and Blake Price. Literally asked him the same question 3 times. Some of these guys are real beauties. I don’t even think they could get a job in the real world. Nobody would hire them.

I'd take questions from Drance over someone like Garrioch any day. At least Drance has worked for the Panthers and spent time working with and for players, vs just being a snooty knowitall "reporter" like Garrioch who has a history of trying to run guys out of town.

Having lived in both countries, both healthcare systems are broken. Yes, Canada has universal healthcare which is great knowing you don't have to pay for the ambulance or ER. However, doctors are actually disincentivized to order testing and when you can get it it's often a multiple months wait for things like an MRI. Yes, the US has major issues around getting health insurance, and far too much of the population is without it, but if you can get a good health insurance the healthcare system functions incredibly well and expeditiously. When I had good health insurance the quality of care I got in the US was miles better than what I've gotten in BC.

Also lived in both countries, also experienced this.

Some stress experienced finding in-network covered care at times, but you are right that when you have good insurance the system functions very well.

    He's the best.

How he handles the media is perfect.

I know he admitted it was getting to him a bit but he kept his mouth shut, didnt pay attention to the noise, used it to motivate and continue to be a strong leader for our crew.

He knew going into the season he was going to be hated for his new contract no matter what. He did have a rough start, but was as solid as ever in the last half of the season and I'm expecting a big year for him this upcoming season.

Very smart in how he handles the media and the fans, basically just shuts everyone out.

For every one Gudas who admits this, I bet you there are 10 more Sakics that don't admit it publicly but nevertheless do the same privately.

Why the F would someone want to deal with the Canadian hockey media that searches for controversies 24/7, and invades players' private lives.

Give me the same money in San Jose, LA, Chicago, or New York instead, without all the headaches.

Look at Boston: original 6 team with great fans, lots of coverage, but players aren't put under a microscope when they go through a 20 game scoring drought.

I wouldn't want to talk to the Canadian hockey media daily either, if I had another option.
I like most of the Vancouver guys but mannnnn some of the world's most annoying people seem to become hockey reporters in Canada (see: Bruce Garrioch).

If we could just clone Bieksa....
