[Report] Canucks name Quinn Hughes as captain
arsenalian replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Canucks Talk
This is fantastic. Absolutely right choice and as others have mentioned so nice to see it done decisively before training camp. Not letting all the speculation linger, just down to business as soon as camp opens. -

[Rumour] Nikita Tryamkin eyeing NHL return
arsenalian replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
For everyone who says Tram hates Vancouver and his time here, I present Exhibit A. The guy is fairly active on social media and to this day his profile pic is still him in a Canucks jersey, not Avtomobilist, where he’s been for 6 years. I mean if he hates it here soooo much, that’s pretty weird, lol. edit: ok fairly active may be a stretch, but still, he posts now and then, yet has never bothered to change to his current team -
Jim Bennings legacy without the OEL trade. Grade him out of 10.

I get that, but that table is omitting swaths of data. I mean add Chiarelli’s Soiler years and he drops down that table a few spots, add JR’s Pittsburgh years he goes up, etc. Just a really weird chart. I guess looking at it again, it’s rookie GMs with their first teams? Anyway, doesn’t matter, the table just threw me for a loop -

I guess if you Completely ignore Rutherford’s time in Pittsburgh, like the original table does. Looks a little different when you include him making the playoffs 5 out of 6 years with the Pens, oh and a couple of Stanley Cups. So I’m not sure what that table is supposed to illustrate? GMs success with one organization? -

I feel like people who don’t think Bure was the best ever to lace them up for the Canucks didn’t get to watch him. It’s not even comparable. I think Petey is amazing a close second, but every time Bure got the puck everyone was out of their seats and it just seemed like he’d do something amazing every shift. Petey has a bit of the same vibe, and like I said, second best ever in my books, but just not quite the same electric energy. Can’t even describe it. edit: haha and just saw HorvatToBaertschi’s comment. I’d say Pavel was both, most electric and most talented.

Good lord and now Walcott of all people, makes it 2-0 This is Canuck like. When at top of league poop the bed against lower teams. Who am I kidding, this is also the Arsenal way -

The dragons definitely make it look Welsh. My family’s from Hackney and Orient used to (not sure if they still do) practice on the pitches at Hackney Marsh, just down the road from their neighbourhood. We also found a box of old signed cigarette cards of various Orient players Grandad had collected as a kid. -

Yes Wolves is a good one, Crystal Palace too. I’ve always liked the Leyton Orient one too, plus that was my Grandad’s boyhood club. Found an old schoolbag of his, must have been from the 1920s where he’d drawn the logos on the canvas with some sort of pen/ink, pretty cool find. -

I think Alf is referring to my avatar? But not sure. Regardless, the best logo out there IMHO, not that I’m biased or anything -

Heck I’d have been happy if you told me 4th, lol. Yes, if there’s a slip and we end second it will sting, but that’ll pass with seeing them in CL next year I attribute the good season to me having bought a new home kit prior to the season, for the first time in years. Guess I’ll have to get a new one every year now to add to my extensive collection (much to my wife’s chagrin). Didn’t get a name or number, but thinking Odegard for next one -

Whoa!! I didn’t even know this thread existed. Shows how often I actually venture outside the Canucks Talk and Trade rumour proposals forums, lol. Damn and this would have been a good season for me to be in here. Gunners holding the lead by the skin of their teeth, going to be a hell of a finish. Hoping for the title, but honestly just happy to be back in the top 4. Didn’t expect Arteta to get things turned around so quickly, so this season has been a very pleasant surprise.
