It's different, but I'd ranked the SEL higher. Hey Johan, what are salaries like in the SEL? Is it like other European leagues where you also get things like housing covered?

Botchford nailed every detail of the trade as it happened, what the parts were and what the conditions were. (Ahead of everybody else) But if you want to believe he's making it all up and that the Canucks wanted Riley Sheahan, go ahead.

Obviously the list wasn't two players, but I imagine the rest of the guys they would have taken weren't likely to be available at the 25th pick and the rest of the guys in and around there weren't valued by Gillis. (such as Pysyk and Hayes) As for Sheahan, considering he went after Bennett, I don't think he was on the list or else Botchford would have mentioned him.

I believe it was Botchford at the time who said it was these two players. Also, as soon as Tinordi was drafted he tweeted something along the lines of the trade being official now, since the Canucks list of players were taken.

I believe the players were Jarred Tinordi and Beau Bennet. I was hoping they'd take Jon Merril, but oh well.

If Rodin doesn't develop into a Top 6 player, it won't be for a lack of skill.

2010 - Jarnkrok (and a Fin in Pulkkinen in the 4th Round) 2009 - Adam Almqvist (7th Round) 2008 - Gustav Nyquist (4th Round) damn them I also imagine Joakim Andersson from the 2007 draft (3rd Rounder) will develop into a good 3rd Liner in a couple years.
  9. I assume fine, since his skating was quite impressive for his size when I watched him at the WJHC last year.

I want Bieksa gone as much as the next guy, but Gillis can't trade him until he knows he has a replacement. So if Gillis can sign a Hamhuis, Martin or Michalek, then Bieksa can proceed to trade him.

I really like this pick, he was a guy I was hoping we'd take in the later rounds.
  12. Oh wow, nice find. He signed a year extension in Sweden, so he's not here for a contract. He's currently injured (broken bone in hand) and is sitting with Dave Gagner. He could be here to meet with the FO and just talk about how his season went, things they liked, things he needs to work on etc. Possibly gauging where he is and if he'll come over for 2011/2012.
  13. Haha, that's quite alright. I've gotten over 60 +'s from that thread. =P

  14. Yes, but he has been out with an injury. Before that he was getting a regular shift. edit: Apparently he has fractured a scaphoid bone and will miss the rest of the season.

It's possible he does have another year and that Byrnas does't care if he leaves. He's on their 4th Line this year, I doubt they have big plans for him next season.

Go back to my post about the quote from Rodin, clearly he can leave this off-season if he wants to.

I just took part in the Province chat thing and Tony Gallagher said something like "Rodin cannot wait to get out of their fast enough. He committed to Sweden before getting drafted and would have not done so if he knew he would have gone to Vancouver in 2nd Round. But he had to make decision before draft"

Have the Canucks given you any indication on when you might play in North America with the Canucks or maybe with their farm team, the Manitoba Moose? Anton Rodin – I’m taking it one year at a time. I have one year at Brynäs so I’ll finish this season and then I’ll see what I do. Peter Andersson – Yeah, me too. http://canucks.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=507452 Andersson signed a 1-year extension, Rodin has't yet, which leads me to believe that he does plan to come over. Andersson gets good minutes in the SEL, whereas Rodin is still in a limited role, which may push him to come over. We'll see once Byrnas's season is finished.

I don't know if they're going to, but on the pre-game show Tony Gallagher said the Canucks have tried/want to sign him.

Although Henrik was 17, whereas Rodin is 18/19. The two guys I use as a comparison are Anton Lander (2nd Round pick for the Oilers) and Byrnas teammate Jakob Silfverberg (2nd Rounder for Ottawa) Silfverberg has 11 points in 37 games, while Lander has 12 points in 38 games. In fact, they were a line together at the WJHC. I think Rodin outperformed Jakob Silfverberg and had just as good a tournament as Lander. Lander was more consistently noticeable, but Rodin was clearly the more dynamic player and started a lot of plays that Lander finished off.

Um...no A elbow to to the head is an elbow to the head. An elbow to the head that isn't even part of the play is even worse. This was an exhibition warm-up game and Canadian players are pulling that kind of crap? I don't blame the Swedes for not shaking hands. It's not surprising though, I've seen other tune-up games of the sort and the Canadian players are always over-zealous and pulling stuff like it's the Gold Medal game. It's one of the more embarrassing aspects of Canadian hockey hubris.
