  1. Very happy to see this going through and I'm not going to fuss and flip over 2 cents like I've seen from other people. I cannot speak to Delta and Richmond, but IIRC, Corrigan's objections to this are the process in which this is being done and not the practical nature of the Evergreen Line.
  2. Yeah that thread was pretty popular and got a lot of posts...especially when Ukranian Canuck was around.
  3. Buses would not be taken away entirely, less will just be used. The 145 is ridiulous though. I learned eventually to just go to Sperling Station and get the 144. not as hectic and way more room.
  4. These are all things I'm sure they will address, because from what I've been told, it's 99.9% going to happen. They've done lots of research in regards to the type of tram and routes and the data shows a conclusion that is both economically sound and environmentally friendly.
  5. Expect an aerial tram to SFU to get the go-ahead
  6. A must win game tonight. They have to take all 3 points from a not-so-good San Jose.
  7. I never read the book (might have to eventually) and I think the show has been splendid so far. The first three episodes have been a little "slow", but I don't blame them since there is a lot of characters and stories they need to touch on and show the viewer.
  8. http://fulltimethesoccershow.blogspot.com/2011/04/whitecaps-training-notes-april-7.html Sucks that Salinas had a setback, I was looking forward to see him play. One forgotten player for me is Michael Nanchoff, our other 1st Round Pick. He's part of the unvailable CM list due to injury. It'd be nice to see his offensive ability added to the line-up.
  9. I think Nolly will keep getting the starts. Nolly did a good job of controlling his box last game and effectively using his height, but I think he is average when it comes to ball stopping ability. Cannon is still dealing with some niggling injury issues as well, but I would not be surprised if Cannon is the starter at some point this year.
  10. Both Salgado and Teibert will be in Houston with the team. If Teibert is fit he will start on the left side again. With the Hassli suspension, we could see Salgado come on as a sub since I assume Camilo and Harris will start again. Some updates on other players Jay Demerit - Looks like he will play against Houston John Thorrington - Is now hurt apparently, (re-aggravated an injury?) he did a fine job replacing Dunfield last game. Terry Dunfield - Not expected to play Sunday Gershon Koffie - Will now miss the next 3 games because he has been called up to the U20 Ghana squad. Was going to miss one originally for suspension. Alexandre Morfaw - One of our depth CM's who is out with a broken hand now. Alain Rochat - Could be starting at CM because of the amount of players we're now missing. I expect he will do just fine there as he has been excellent at both LB and CB so far. Chiumiento - May start Sunday, possibly even at CM A little murky who would we could be seeing on Sunday. Leathers, Camilo, Harris, Boxall and Demerit (looks like he will return) all seem to be locks for their position. Rochat will play but not quite sure where, either LB or CM. Best case scenario (all possible players get fit) LB - Rochat CB - Demerit CB - Boxall RB - Leathers LM - Teibert HM - Harmse CM - Chiumiento RM - Knight or Khaflan FW - Harris FW - Camilo Likely subs who would see the pitch - Salgado, Salinas and Wagner. (maybe Davies if they need a CM) Another possibility is Wagner at LB and Rochat at CM.
  11. Yes it's early, but a forward group consisting of Hassli, Harris, Salgado and Camilo should be able to keep the Whitecaps consistently potting goals. Early predictions have Hassli/Camilo starting Wednesday against New England, but I'm not sure if I agree. Harris's athleticism and ball-winning capabilities are very important to our offense. I do think the Whitecaps could use another central attacking midfield though, or another right midfielder so that you can push Chiumiento inside. I like Dunfield and he delivered a nice ball to Chiumiento on the 2nd goal, but I want to see little more offensive flair from that spot. The team struggled against KC in consistently moving the ball before Chiumiento/Khaflan were subbed on and I think Wagner really struggled at LM. Also, it looks to me like Khalfan is more suited to the subs role and it also allows his pace to become more of an advantage. He's too inconsistent off the ball at this point to be a starter.
  12. Demerit and Chiumiento are "doubtful" according to Marc Weber and "questionable" according to the Whitecaps officials that John Molinaro spoke to.
  13. Akloul will form an excellent tandem with Demerit. Demerit is more of a hard-nosed d-man, whereas Akloul is a little more dynamic and can really push the ball forward even from the CB position. Really excited to see him in the line-up soon. It'll be nice when the CB's are healthy and you have a guy with the quality of Janicki as your back-up.
  14. Where do you live? A lot of people park on various side streets along hastings then walk/bus the rest of the way, while others skytrain to Renfrew then bus up. I'm in Burnaby right next to Brentwood Mall, so getting there is really easy for me.
  15. It's different, but I'd ranked the SEL higher. Hey Johan, what are salaries like in the SEL? Is it like other European leagues where you also get things like housing covered?
  16. Botchford nailed every detail of the trade as it happened, what the parts were and what the conditions were. (Ahead of everybody else) But if you want to believe he's making it all up and that the Canucks wanted Riley Sheahan, go ahead.
  17. Obviously the list wasn't two players, but I imagine the rest of the guys they would have taken weren't likely to be available at the 25th pick and the rest of the guys in and around there weren't valued by Gillis. (such as Pysyk and Hayes) As for Sheahan, considering he went after Bennett, I don't think he was on the list or else Botchford would have mentioned him.
  18. I believe it was Botchford at the time who said it was these two players. Also, as soon as Tinordi was drafted he tweeted something along the lines of the trade being official now, since the Canucks list of players were taken.
  19. I believe the players were Jarred Tinordi and Beau Bennet. I was hoping they'd take Jon Merril, but oh well.
  20. Top Scoring LW's in NHL 1. Ovechkin - 34 points in 28 games 2. Semin - 32 points in 28 games 3. Sedin - 30 points in 24 games 4. Sharp - 29 points in 27 games 5. Ladd - 27 points in 27 games 6. Eriksson - 25 points in 25 games Who are you expecting from Rodin? Sedin, Semin or Ovechkin?
  21. If Rodin doesn't develop into a Top 6 player, it won't be for a lack of skill.
  22. True, but he was also playing in a bigger rink most nights
  23. Yup, look at this way 2011/2012 - The Canucks will need to replace Raffi Torres on the 3rd Line, maybe a couple spots on the 4th Line. I think Hodgson takes Torres spot and Bliznak/Sweatt take the spots on the energy line. (I assume the Canucks will keep Hansen) 2012/2013 - Samuelsson needs to be replaced, Raymond's contract is up. For Samuelsson you could see Hodgson get pushed into the right-hand role on that line. For Raymond it comes down to contract, hard to say what his worth will be then. When Hodgson replaces Samuelsson, you'll need either Rodin/Schroeder to take up that 3rd Line Role, or have Sweatt go to the 3rd Line. Or maybe Hodgson stays on the 3rd Line and Schroeder is ready for the 2nd Line. 2013/2014 - Things get more interesting. Burrows contract is up (I imagine he gets re-signed), Maholtra's contract is up (could also re-sign). So it's too hard to predict now. So, realistically, one forward prospect needs to be ready for next season (likely Hodgson) and one (maybe two) need to fill a 4th line role. (Sweatt and/or Bliznak) The season after that another prospect will need to be ready, but it's the 2013/2014 season where guys like Schroeder and Rodin will need to be fully ready.
