We had Stephen Bellringer CEO of Orca Bay who had no hockey experience except running B,C Gas fired Pat Quinn as President and Gm of the team and then ask him if he wanted to coach the team after he was canned. Basically the team had no hockey management after Quinn

We could argue that that the whole team struggle when Markstrom went down not just Demko. Put into consideration this is his first year with the big club. You have a valid point you can't judge him after that 3 playoff games . But its his character that had my attention. You throw him in an elimatination game three games in a row and he's looking at videos after games 5,and 6 saying he's looking for ways to get better..You also can't say don't expect much Because we don't know what to expect and he may surprise you. I would love to have Markstrom back but at what cost? Now Benning said that Demko is the future of this franchise and they know they need two goaltenders to be successful. Harry . All you need is one player sick and the whole team is in lockdown. What If this happens when the tournament starts, That also means the other team is also in Lockdown . Having said that Harry the States haven't curved the virus.. Most of the players and teams are coming from there. You can carry the virus and not realize it until your in that bubble. That's what some of the players are concern about. Not just the NHL but other Pro teams as well. Look at Dallas of the MLS. Some of those players enter the bubble in Orlando not realizing they had the virus.

I like Beagle and Sutter too. For 7 million combined salaries to kill penalties penalties in a cap era is pretty expensive. And yes they have been a good influence on the young bucks but now is the time to give the young bucks to take over. Adam Gaudette is ready Imo and very capable of scoring 20 goals. Only Beagle Toffoli ,and Pearson that have won cups .

And you think 5 year of rebuilding is enough ? This would set us back even further! Look at past trades. You would be giving up the farm for a guys like him. No thank you. We are already tight against the cap and you have to look the future when you have to think about contracts for Pettersson and Hughes.

If you were New Jersey's Gm would you do this trade? A 6 Million dollar player player that has 30 goals in three years and barely playing now. And a player that has health issue along with a 4 line player. How long will you have your job as a Gm?

I agree no rentals ,but we shouldn't trade asset just yet. Imo we are a about three years away from being in contention Did you guys consider who your going to expose in the expansion draft. Remember we can keep 7 forwards 3 defencemen and one goaltender. Wanless in two years ,Sutter will be 32 , Tanner Pearson will be 29,,Beagle 36, Edler will be 35 , Tanev 31, Benn will be 34 ,ERICKSSON'S Contract will over at 36 by then. Ferland,and Beartchi have questionable health issues., So your still going to tell us in two years there will be no room for these prospects and that we should trade them ? You build a team that can contend for years. where we still have our young core and adding prospects. What Benning is doing is building a gap where his prospects can have time to slowly developed and taking over some of aging Vets or the ones that will be gone in the expansion draft. if we traded our prospects then the last 5 years was a waste of time.

Pat was a Gm and President when he got the job in Vancouver. But it was Bob McCammon who was coach the team in 88/89 season and coached that team until he was fired halfway through the 90/91 season and that when Pat took over as coach. In 1994 the Canucks ended up getting Craig Janney and a second round pick for compensation for the signing of F/A Petr Nedved.But since Janney didn't want to play in Vancouver they traded him back to the Blues for Jeff Brown, Nathen Lafayette, and Brett Hedican

This team is not even close to finishing their rebuild nor are they ready to contend for a cup. It took Burke and Quinn and another two to three years before their team could contend. Gillis took over what Burke started. Who do you plan to expose for the expansion draft? When your only allow to keep 7 forwards 3 defencemen and one goaltender/? In a cap era we can't afford to be giving up rentals for draft picks or top prospects. In a Couple years when we get rid some of the aging vets and their salaries we are going to need players like Gaudette, Joulivi. Podkolzin, And hopefully Madden to step in and take over.

No Shaky, they finished third and made the playoffs last year in Hay's last year as coach. When you see a jump in ticket prices from 22 dollars to 29. You tell me if that doesn't affect the attendace! I Also found out it was cheaper to call the ticket office to get tickets. Compare to the rest of the league the attendace isn't that bad. IMO I don't see this team going anywhere . Thank god for Vancouver they have Owners and a GM who cares about this team and community. Shaky you don't know how good you have it with the Giants. You could have had a crap owner IMO in Rick Brodsky who took a once proud franchise in the Cougars who ran it into the ground in Victoria and moved it P.G and ended up doing the same there before new ownership took over. This franchise has been successful for so long you think one bad streach in your opinion that they need to pick it up? This team has been in contention for 5 years after winning the Memorial cup before missing the post season. Making the post season for 10 straight years you will eventually going to have some hick ups after that long of success. When you don't draft the top midget players for a few years . It usually Tells me your doing well when your not always drafting in the top 4-5 every year. Even the great Kelowna Rockets missed the playoffs in 06/07 two years after winning it all .And it took them another year or two to get where they are now.

What system would you like them to play Tom? How would you know the game was over when the game had barely started? The last time they played the Kings they got ran out of town. Run at our goaltender, and barley sticking up for each other. Because Imo that system didn't work well either. This is the first time in a long time that this team played like a TEAM. Sorry Tom we all know we need scoring. But what are you willing to give up since our core is already aging.

Bonner is reloading for the future by getting rid of his vets and getting the younger players playing time for experience. He chance the mindset of this team when winning a Division isn't good enough anymore. And what traits do you look for in a team? Every year a certain teams wins the cup with a certain trait ,but it doesn't always work on another. So are you giving up on the season already? Let see now we had one week of training camp and you expect the team to gel right away? We don't have Kess or Booth. We don't know how the other teams will do down the road if they can stay healthy.

So if Dale Weiss has great Character is he going to be a great goal scorer like Bossy? Of course not! Players like Gretzky and Bossy didn't put up point just on Charater alone . They were skilled as well as playing along with great players like Kurri , Coffee, Anderson . If you want to bring Character then Mr. Anderson didn't have the best Character but he ended up with winning 4 cups. Mr.Bossy was scoring goals because he had a great player playing along side of him like Brian Trottier,Nystrom, Clarke Gillies, Dennis Potvin. Are you going to tell us the Dave the Hammer Schultz and Dave Semenko won cups on Character? Just because Linden had a great Career and was the face of the franshice doen't mean he would be a great Gm. How did the Great One do as a coach? Not every player can be a great coach or Gm? You notice that Linden has stepped away from the game for like 5 years now and counting. It usually means he quite happy what he's doing outside of hockey. Believe it or not most NHL Gm's or coaches weren't the greatest players. Most of them were plug players who had short Careers who struggled in the minors. Some of them never played an NHL game in their life. But somehow they became better coaches and Gm. Why would you want to change Gm at this point. A Gm at this point has made this team stay competitive and never missed the playoffs under his helm.

Ok Superfan, Lets go back to '94. How did this team do in the regular season? We were three points away from missing the playoffs all together and we wouldn't be talking about the 94 run.I wouldn't call a 41-40-1 record and 85 points is anything to be scary about going into the post season. The question would be how are we going to survive!!!! The team gel at the right time. Thats's all nothing special. Quinn going into the playoffs had the same core for the last three years. The Canucks started the playoffs as a 7th seed. So every round ,all the way to the final we were the underdogs all the way. Totally disagree with you on Pavel Bure disappearing act in the 94 playoffs , 16 goals,15 assist 31 points in 24 playoff games. I would say he did a pretty good job against the so call tight checking. You can't compare one team from another. Their unique in there own way. Every year is different, We don't have the same coaching staff or Gm for the last 40 years so you can't say I'm a little uneasy. And we don't have GM WHO IS satisfied.

Well Clutch, 28 goals last year and now 34 and counting for 09/10. Aren't you glad your not the Gm for this hockey club!!!
