  1. I would like the comets to play the ahl flames in the first round and have Sven DOMINATE the series. I do wonder whether he would be a better option on lw over some other guys besides Sedin. I agree about developing him in a stable environment and not calling him up but just curious where he would fit if we did bring him up.
  2. Thanks for your insight. I've read conflicting reports regarding Corrado's waiver eligibility. Do you know if he is exempt next year? It would make a difference whether he makes the canucks as we also have a logjam of bottom pairing and depth d-men. If he is waiver exempt, I expect Utica to start the year with (in no order) Pedan Huskins Corrado Hutton Subban And any of Negrin, Anderson, Blain, Ehrhardt
  3. Well crap... I do remember people were up in arms about AV burning a year during the shortened season but I wasn't sure whether that was off his ElC or waiver exemption. Elvis, do you know anything about this?
  4. While I agree that Schroeder was misused as a canucks (playing checking role), I don't think his upside is that great. He is not good enough to be a top 6 player on an elite team. Personally, I think Vey will be as good or better than Bonino in a few years. He just needs to get stronger and get more experience.
  5. What kind of stride has Vey made in his rookie season? With the season pretty much 80% done, he came in with good offensive awareness but a bit weak along the boards and a bit weak defensively. I believe I have seen him be a bit smarter when fighting for the puck along the boards in terms of positioning to offset his lack of strength and have seen him back check hard on many occasions. Have we seen enough of an improvement throughout the year to indicate that he can be a serviceable 2nd or 3rd liner in the NHL that is not a liability? I've been thinking about this recently and I think I may have written him off too quickly. I assumed the spot was between Baertschi and Vey but what's to say they both can't be impact players? Perhaps the best approach is to out them on different lines for now shielded by better defensive players on our team until they are solid 2 way players.
  6. I think the difficult issue is, there are only a certain number of spots available next year. Can both Baertschi and Vey make it? If so, can we still have balanced lines that have enough defensive awareness? I am worried that both 2nd and 3rd line is too weak defensively and can see them on the losing end of some match ups. Line 3 looks more solid because it's anchored at C with a better defensive player and all reports are that Baertschi is not actually as bad as Burke suggests defensively. I see him at about Vey's level defensively but with more offensive upside. On the other hand, I can see line 2 getting pushed around. They could potentially swap Burrows with Vrbata and have a line 2a/2b Sedin Sedin Kassian Higgins Vey Vrbata Baertschi Bonino Burrows Kenins Horvat Hansen Gone/unsigned? Matthias, Richardson, Dorsett
  7. He doesn't have enough grit or fight in his game to be a 3rd liner
  8. Lol, Thanks for the laugh. Regardless of where he was picked in the draft, the market currently indicates he is worth a second rounder. Yet you expect him to play like an elite All Star? I guess we should try to get back guys like Pyatt, Malholtra and Torres.we would then have a team full of 50 goal scorers
  9. Yeah... we need him
  10. He was awesome on the 5 on 3 kill. Love the fact that he'll do anything for the team. Guys like him and Johnson deserve a lot of props.
