  1. a team of best players from the USA and Russia i'll say can easily beat the best of the current Canadian team.. 1 simple reason.. Goaltending.. US have Hellebuyck, Otteginer, Demko etc.. Russia have Shesterkin Vasileski Sorokin Georgiev etc.. the best we have right now in canada? it's a joke.. Adin Hill?? Logan Thompson?? Stuart Skinner? Jarry? or a Fleury that's approaching 40? Canada have no goalies have no up and coming goalies.. on a NHL team.. u can get by with the hills the thompsons if your forward and defence can dominate the other team.. but in a best on best tournament between countries where most country and march out and match up with you player to player?? goaltending is extra important.. and we dont have a single goalie in canada that i would pick to start a game 7 sudden death OT over any of the goalies i listed in US or Russia alone lol.
  2. you know that pace is skewed right? because we played non playoff teams 60% of the time since tocchet took over.. if we balance it out over 82 game pace where we play 50% playoff teams and 50% non playoff teams we end up at 96 point just 1 point ahead of winnipeg last year.. so if we follow his pace against the playoffs and the non playoff team.. we may squeak in on the last day lol we ain't locking anything down if we followed tocchet's pace.. all the bottom feeder teams have also gotten better.. i doubt we are going 14-3-3 pace against them.
  3. every year we complain about the writers the oddswriter being bias when they say canucks misses the playoffs blah blah blah.. and so far every season they have been proven right.. can the canucks make the playoff? for sure.. but requires a lot of things to go right.. they need to not have a slow start like every previous seasons.. EP Hughes Miller can not regress or have a slow start.. the defence needs to have instant chemistry.. mik needs to come back from his ACL injury as if nothing happened.. Kuzmenko needs to continue to have an insane shooting percentage, demko needs to have a good year.. our infinite questionable wingers needs to have a good season (boeser, garland, beauvillier, hoglander, podz) and we need to stay injury free.. if we achieve like most then ya we'd be competing for a playoff spot and probably make it.. but you can see why oddsmaker is not high on the canucks.. they need too many things to go right.
  4. meh and we'll probably continue to suffer in the cycle of missing the playoff and then sneaking in the playoff get knocked out again until FA is gone.. yes he's willing to spend money but he likes to take shortcuts every step along the way hence why we have been mediocre for almost a decade now.
  5. lol so why not just say lyubushkin for myers straight up?? since anaheim basically traded nothing and got nothing?
  6. but there will be pressure for the canucks to make the playoff if they want to get EP to re-sign or even re-sign at a slight discount.. if we are to go thru the season again.. right at the edge of playoff.. miss again.. stuck with another 14-16 pick.. and then EP decides he had enough.. boy we are in for a tough long rebuild with nothing much in the prospect pool.. sure we have willander, raty, lemm and whoever else.. but none of those are even in the top 50 drafted prospect lemm was top 70ish prior to the draft but prolly closer to 100 now after the draft.. dont even think raty makes the list.. if this season fails again.. there's a 50/50 chance EP might bolt and we either rebuild or have to retool around hughes and miller.
  7. LA dont have the D?? Doughty who's arguable still one of the best defenceman both side of the ice, gavrikov, anderson and roy all would easily replace all our top 4s minus hughes and hronek and clarke whos only the 8th best prospect in the NHL as of march this year.. outside of questionable goaltending.. which is nothing new for the LA kings.. as they've managed to put up with mediocre goaltending for the past couple of years.. they easily make the playoffs unless the doughty and kopitar regress and falls off the face of the earth. Seattle Calgary Vancouver probably should be lump closer to each other in no particular order whos ahead of who
  8. considering they have no closers and blew multiple late game leads they'll probably falter against real teams. seattle have 23 games left against tougher opponents bluejays 19 and 18 easier opponent vs bluejays 21
  9. i'm glad my friend works at ea so i get the games from him for $20.. usually play it for couple months and then trade it back in when they have $50 most wanted or some other promo at gamestop.. i always get madden nhl and fifa every year the only game i keep is fifa.. fifa is literally the only game they actually spend time and money in lol.. all the other franchise is literally just there for nostaglia
  10. there doesn't seem to be a none choice for LH i think they'll carry an extra defenceman and rotate hirose up and down the ahl since he's still waiver exempt
  11. yes i think it's important to start the season with whats work so we don't get off to a slow start again. they can start tinkering if it's not working or they have a comfortable lead
  12. there's a rule with regards to can't be more than 3 feet away from the basepath to avoid an out.. so i would assume that applies to this too as running towards the center field is outside the basepath 3 feet is also not much of a running start anyways
  13. i think the jack hughes thing was a big gamble on both side though coming off a 21 and 31 point season.. like Hughes can bet on himself but i dunno if he thought he'd be in the 90-100 point range.. based on his first 2 season.. i dont think he'd get a 3 year bridge at 7+ like ep.. his deal in a way is kinda like the mackinnon deal when he took the so call discount signs a max term deal at a decent cap hit and then out performing it. Devil took the gamble and won. different scenario different circumstances
  14. Well hopefully they are talking in the background then and have something done hopefully. My concerns are valid. If it drags to next offseason we basically have up to the arbitration date to either give in and re-sign to his demands or trade him to a team he’s willing to re-sign don’t think the 1 year arbitration or trade him as a 1 year rental is an option for this team. I’m pretty sure the Canucks will file for arbitration to prevent ep from signing the qualifying if it gets to that time
  15. Well I don’t mean like news or leaks like what they are looking at etc etc. I mean news or rumours like PA have preliminary contact with the agent or Canucks have had talks with ep agent etc. I really don’t care about the details and stuff. Last year at least we know they were talking to miller and they talked with Horvat. Need like they are at least talking
  16. too bad the management didn't make it a priority to get EP signed this summer.. it's so quiet with that regards wonder if they even had any talks at all.. not sure if the management is trying to see if EP will regress so he can sign for less or what's their plan.. we are literally walking into a Matthew Tkatchuk situation where EP have the management by the balls.. Either they give in to whatever he wants.. or trade him to a team he's willing to re-sign with to maximize return.. i dont think the current management is willing to give EP even 11mil.. they'd be luck well miller is only worth 8mil what makes him worth 11... say if we are slightly better next season.. get swept in the first round.. EP wants 12-12.5mil do we just say hell no and tear it all down? coz if we trade EP we are tearing it down.. or do we give in to retain him?? once he file for arbitration it's just a ticking time bomb.. is ep worth 12-12.5mil?? no i don't think so.. he's prolly worth closer to 10.5-11.5 max but unless he views this team as a true contender which they are not and probably won't be the next 3-4 seasons.. i don't see him giving a penny discount.. if he have another 100+ point season.. technically he already given the team the discount by outplaying his cap significantly just we aren't able to capitalize on it.
  17. the only deal i would do for hughes is for jack or luke straight up lol a hughes for a hughes maybe add a 2nd or 3rd because they are younger :D
  18. lol u really think new jersey can afford to pay quinn hughes with Luke likely going to be in the 8+ after his elc.. then they have meier bratt hesicher jack hamilton all around 8 and up? they already have one of the best defence and that's not even including nemec.. they going to sign QH just the sake of playing all 3 brothers?? the 3 staal brothers iirc never played on the same team at the same time together. NJ dont need QH unless he wants to sign for a discount in jersey
  19. sure call me a hater call me whatever u want as long as it makes you happy. if the team wasn't so god awful for a decade with bad moves after bad moves after bad moves maybe there'd be less things to whine about?
  20. the occasional coasting throwing tamper tantrum on the bench not give a f about a play after a turnover is part of his passion right? or are you going to say he's trying to conserve energy fire up the bench with his tantrum and giving his goalie the vote of confidence on a odd man rush and he isn't needed to clear a potential rebound if the goalie saves it?.. can't remotely imagine someone like me being a captain? did i mention or say i'm captain material. imagine some random internet guy doesn't agree with someone's opinion and decides i need to make fun or attack someone else they don't know's trait
  21. i agree with everything you said.. but the Miller obsess fans here will spin everything into a positive and if we don't agree we are haters.. i have no issue with Miller getting the C if he can get rid of some of those habits but at this stage of his career i might be wrong but it's very unlikely he can rid it as it's part of who he is and it's what makes him fun to watch at time and frustrating at others.
  22. no to miller.. he does have some good qualities, vocal fiery will go to war, and holds everyone accountable but himself. the bad qualities outweights the good qualities.. this guy gets mad and angry way too easily.. we don't need him going to the referee for an explanation and then yelling and screaming at them if things don't go his way.. a lot of you claim the league is against us.. the refs are against us.. so i rather not give them more reason to give us more mickey mouse penalties.. his emotion is too volatile and works both ways.. he'll drag his team into war.. at the same time he will drag the team down with him on the sinking boat depending on which way his emotion is leaning.. in a close game.. he'll lead the way and try to will the team back in.. in a not so close game.. his body langauge is more like ok whatever. not exactly the type of captain i would want to lead a team.. inconsistent. if he can fix those things? sure he can be the captain but unless shown otherwise i rather Hughes maybe EP or no captain at all this season and evaluate after the season.. plenty of teams have no captain for a season or 2.. not really that big of a deal.
  23. i'm ok with this but i still rather mik with pettersson.. beau had a hot start.. and then he was back to his islander pace in march and april. 3 goals in 22 games.. and doesnt' look that good at all. i rather load up the top line with guys that have known to work well.. because the 2nd line is a question mark for me.. garland in my opinion needs to go he works hard and what not.. but his stats against the good team and his production against them is horrendous
  24. i'm fine if we don't have one and just have a bunch of A.. u don't need a C on ur jersey to be a leader nor do u need a C on ur jersey for the team to listen.. if you have leadership qualities and quantities players will listen.. C really is just for the media to target and harass whenever they suck
  25. lol Myers was decent before he got to van and he was decent for the first couple of years.. we never got a proper partner for him just like we are struggling to get a proper partner for hughes.. our best defensive defenceman is Schenn not Hughes. Hughes is average defensively and doesn't hit nor block shots he's rarely used in defensive zone draws.
