I always expected Jake to score goals so I fall into this trap as well, however, it is interesting that everyone expects the power forward to score goals and neglect the possibility that they are a playmaker. Bertuzzi's best goal scoring season was 46-51-97. That's a nice find there!

I have just been shocked at his passing ability. Especially last night. It seems instead of skating down the wing, either firing it away or avoiding driving to the net, he has been dishing the puck very well. I almost feel as if he has better playmaking ability.

I agree. Too many people thinking we are making bad moves. We've added two legit players to our top six and two solid defenceman. It seems like people hope for us to wait around for all our draft picks to be great without assuming we need to add the piece to surround that. Ferlund/Miller - Pettersson - Boeser Pearson - Horvat - Ferlund/Miller Seems way nicer than what we had last year. We got tougher and didn't lose out on speed to do so.

I don't think we trade him. At this rate we are making a push for the playoffs. Unless we accept that we are okay with not making them this year. Tanev is more valuable to our team because of our recent signings to shore up the defense. It would now make no sense to trade him as a rental to a team who will look to be successful in the playoffs, while we ourselves are attempting to make the playoffs and be successful.

I like this line up until Roussel gets back. A line up of Roussel - Gaudette - Virtanen sounds nice

I think it has more to do with Jordie Benn being a similar player, but better. He's can also be a big bodied guy that throws it around and sticks up for his teammate. So, if they feel Benn can do the same role, but be more effective in other areas as well, they probably don't feel they are losing out on giving up Schenn.

I think it for sure shows that Benning laid out his vision and Myers bought in and wants to be part of it. So he took a bit less.

I think I was expecting 6 years for around 6.5 million. So, I am pretty happy actually. Looking forward to what he will bring to the team.

This is a good deal. Everyone expected 6-7 years. He got five. Everyone expected his term to be 6.5-7.5m and he gets 6. Less time and money.

I think a lot of it too comes down to cognitively watching talent around them for so many years. I play volleyball and by no means am a great player, but I've observed lots of great players that allows me to reiterate that information to others. I think it can go both ways where a talented player can be a great coach, but it seems that high end talented players aren't always the best coaches.

I think Goldy sticks around especially with Podkolzin being drafted. Maybe politics, but still. As for the others absolutely they can all go. Don't mind if Baer stuck around but I do think he is movable.

Maybe I am being hopeful, but I agree with this. Pettersson does not seem like the kind of player who's going to walk up to Benning and demand a 12mil contract. Maybe his agent is, but I feel like he's just a guy that's happy to be playing.

Agreed. I think it would be great if we took the chance and waited on Barrie to be a UFA for example, but we cannot afford to take that kind of a risk without a guarantee. Myers can be a forsure thing and potentially can even excel here who knows. I think it is worth the risk for him or Gardiner. Both become an upgrade over our team in terms of play and durability, which I think is huge. We need a defensive line that can stick around, not one that moves around because of consistent injuries. I have to be honest, I haven't seen enough of Myers to know how aggressive of a player he is, but I want to assume his size matched up with Quinn Hughes will make players feel they cannot just push him around.

I am content with the draft. I think we got a good player in Podkolzin. Seems to also have determination to succeed and good character. I am sure lots of Russians have that, but it seems there is a lack of that being part of their personality. To hear that about Podkolzin is great because I think it fits into this teams culture. I also think it helps promote players like Goldobin and Tryamkin to want to be here long term. Second round pick is solid. Smaller player, but we can see with guys in the league it is not a blueprint to succeed that you have to be big. He has good hands, which will help with his size and is strong. I wonder if there are similar characteristics to him and Petrus Palmu. Both strong for their size, even though small. Palmu seems like he will succeed more being a energy, checking type forward however. I do not know enough about all the other players, however it seems a lot of them are being sent to college, which I think will be good for their development. Gives us a lot of time to observe them. Liked the trade. Miller I think will be a good player for us. While a slight overpayment, I don't think it is as bad as people make it out to be.

Unless we magically trade Tanev, Sutter and Eriksson. So... yeah it seems unlikely.

Maybe it's J.T. Miller and Tanev. Slick dog Benning is.

I would assume the plan is to trade Sutter or Eriksson and move Miller over.

Pretty sure I read somewhere Benning mentioned the talks about Barrie didn't go very far. That quote was specifically in regards to whether they've looked at any trades, which i am sure every GM did.
