Oh I believe you. But hindsight is also 20/20.

Agosta was also pretty young when she had her olympic debut in Torino, turned 19 that day. Hard to believe that this was already her 4th olympic games.

Interesting strategy but if it backfired on her we'd all be calling for her head I agree that coaching was a factor here. Hopefully she gets better with more experience but it doesn't appear that she has a great coaching record to begin with...granted I don't know much about college level hockey, maybe she did well with the program she had? Yeah I know. I wasn't sure if you were asking if she did the same. But least she didn't do that....

Can't tell if rhetorical question, but no. She just held it in her hand because she didn't want to wear it.

I read about it this morning ( Looks like she got a stern talking to by IIHF about some sort of legal obligation to wear the medal. I feel for her, and it was certainly an emotional response to a crushing loss but if this was an American player I'd probably be calling her out for it.

Allegiances aside, Daoust and Lamoureux shootout goals were amazing and are worth watching again.

Look, maybe Mikkelsson is there for "intangibles," or maybe there isn't actually anyone better to take her place, Shuler still had to choose to consistently put her on the ice. Shuler chose to take 6 D instead of 7, it bit her in the ass, especially since she chose to shorten the bench to 5 in the 3rd period. To your other point: Bridgette Laquette isn't a bad hockey player. She was a late cut for Sochi, played varsity in University, and plays professionally now. This might be her first Olympics but it's not her first international tournament - and she's performed well in previous tournaments, more than well enough to be deserving of being named to this team. The woman can skate. If you're judging her specifically on about 30 seconds of play in overtime, that isn't a fair assessment. There is absolutely no need to doubt her abilities just because the commentators mentioned her race every time she touched the puck.

jfc. Laquette had a bad game, it doesn't mean she didn't deserve to be there. Shuler made a made call by putting her on the ice in OT. Laquette had sat essentially since the 2nd period and then was thrown onto the powerplay in OT? If not Mikkelsson, who would you have sent instead that was more deserving? Why can you not just be satisfied that this group of women all deserved to be there but happened to also be beaten by a better team?

Current salaries are still not enough unfortunately =(. So many of them have other jobs (Agosta a cop, Poulin a social worker). I think in the CWHL the max salary is 10k...that's...barely rent in many cities.

Mmh. Remember though that this is a relatively green Canadian team. 4 years can change a lot . We might lose Szab and a few older players to retirement but I'm sure the younger players are up to the task. USA deserved the win today, and they've got a helluva player in Coyne. Rooney too. (and as a Canada fan, I certainly won't be missing the Lamoureux twins if they choose to leave on a high note )

I turned my feed off. What happened?

This is why I get so annoyed when people say women's hockey is boring. These players put their heart and soul into every game they play. Even exhibition games between Canada and the US are hard fought.

God, if we see Agosta, Szabados, and co retire on this note I'm gonna be so frickin' sad.
