  1. Elias Pettersson | C/RW

Pettersson plays with a lot of heart and brings a very good defensive game to the table and strong effort on defense tends to go unnoticed due to his great offensive abilities but won't go unnoticed by coach Green. I really credit this young kids overall effort at being a great team player playing very hard all over the ice and going into traffic risking physical contact. To me it's all these attributes that make this kid unreal not just his dynamic offensive abilities.
  2. Elias Pettersson | C/RW

We all can clearly see this great kid Pettersson is as good as it gets offensively but 1 thing I always notice while watching him is he always applies relentless pressure on the forecheck, has a great stick and knack for getting in passing lanes and intercepting passes as well. Another good thing I noticed Pettersson skates just as hard if not harder on the backcheck than offensively to do his best to break up opposing team's offense which is obviously another great trait to have and both these great attributes will get his line much more puck possesson and offensive chances. This great ability he has defensively to go with the crazy offensive fire power is really going to go a long way at making him an all around great hockey player and go a long way in helping the Canucks play winning hockey.

Anyone got a link to watch this game?
  4. Zack MacEwen | C/RW

I completely agree. I've been following Big Mac closely since the prospects tournament where he really caught my eye along with Chatfield as 2 kids who maybe aren't as appreciated as much as our bigger name prospects but 2 guys imo who will be just as good as our best kids and play a very important role in a winning team. I thought Big Mac really really stood out showed me he has some real special talents to go with his size. We really need some of our bigger prospects to shine to offset the slighter skilled players and I really think we're going to have and that group with size and physical potential in Virtanen, Big Mac, Lind, Gadjovich, Guance and Lockwood. I think many of these kids really will have what it takes to bring their heavy physical style of game to create a very much needed balanced lineup and again lots of credit to our GM on some solid under the radar key future signings.

  6. I've always said that Kane is a player that has all the assets to thrive in the playoffs I have never doubted that but just as important he'll also thrive in critical meaningful regular season games the tough games you need to win to make the playoffs. Having that type of player that Kane is and can be is exactly what this team needs going forward especially knowing the styles of all the players that are likely to be on this team. Kane would be a very key signing.
  7. Well I know myself and some others have liked the idea of Kane as a Canuck for a long time now and figured he could really help. He's definitely proving us right and all those fans hacking him down to the ground saying he'd do next to nothing right and him being a cancer dead wrong.

Very exciting and then also Chatfield a kid I've been very high on and even more after watching him develop so rapidly this season in Utica and then at goaltending where Demko and Dipietro have all been on the biggest stages and dominated. The extremely high amount of character and big game players we have right now completely blows my mind! The list just seems to go on and on wow. There's extremely skilled players out there but extremely skilled players who will their team to win is a very special thing and it wins championships.
  9. [Retirement] The Sedins to retire at the end of the season

This is a bit of a shocker but definitely the right move for the Sedins and I respect them even more now after they've come to this smart decision considering all the pros and cons. It's really good to see them going out on somewhat of high and not when their ice time and game is deteriorated to the point of something they'e both not proud of. There was times this season where it was sad to see the game had really passed them by and their weaknesses were even more exposed than ever even though there was times you could also see a lot of their skills were still there occasionally as well. For the betterment of the future of this organization really this Canucks team needed a new harder to play against identity and we've seen that taking shape and will continue to with all the young kids coming that have the skill but with more speed and power and defensive abilities to their game. Personally the Sedins have always been a bit bitter sweet for me because while I enjoyed how their great offensive skill helped the team I love become a top team in the league I also really regretted the Sedins could never get their game to that next level that's needed to win at the most important times in the regular season or the playoffs and that was extremely disappointing. Truth is there is a point in time in the meaningful games you have to raise your game to a level where you're extremely difficult to play against and you'll do whatever it takes to score and lead your team to big wins and you will if you have that ability. Unfortunately there was a point I came to realize it just wasn't a level they could achieve and winning style they could play no matter how hard they worked. I also then realized I can't really be too mad or blame them for something that just wasn't possible for them considering their slight frames ,lack of speed and strength and mental makeup. In the end I'll always have a tonne of respect for these 2 class acts because they completely did the best they could with what they had on the ice but even more so that they were always great teammates, loyal as it gets and as giving as possible to the organization and the city of Vancouver. All the best wishes for these 2 amazing men hopefully the organization offers them a job they'll take when their ready and this won't be the end! Now like every other greatful fan I'm really looking forward to all the respect and appreciation they're about to receive and they deserve every bit of it!
  10. [PGT] Columbus Blue Jackets vs. Vancouver Canucks

Don't see a player have that one on one time with a goalie often lol. Great battle and play by Sutter to set Edler up so well and good fake pass by Edler then picking of the corner.
  11. Thatcher Demko | G

Columbus is hot and just lit up the Flames top prospect goalie who reminds me of Demko. The way Pouliot, MDZ, Sedins, Gagner and quite a few other bad defending players have been leaving Markstrom to make several and far too many huge saves nightly so I'm a bit concerned Demko is being thrown to the wolves here today. The big guy has obviously had plenty games where he's had to stand on his head in the past but not against NHL shooters so damn I'm really hoping the team plays much better defensively than usual today. Would be great to see Demko play rock solid and get the win here will go a long way as to showing everyone and confirming we also have a great young goalie to match all the future prospect talent we have moving forward and possible elite team in general.
  12. Zack MacEwen | C/RW

Thanks for clarifying that for me I'd just seen the game summary they apparently had wrong. Good you followed up with all the happenings though clearly a lot went on during this game. Hopefully the big guy is ok they could really use and really need that big body and skill in the playoffs. Good on his teammates having his back as they should although hard to really tell from that small clip but looks to me like Williams might have left his feet and contact was to the head.

Looks like Big Mac had himself a scrap tonight! Anybody get to see it and see how he faired?
  14. Kole Lind | RW

I agree and what really surprised and stood out for me is his great vision and passing. This kid will surprise and impress a lot of fans with some Grade A passes he's very good at making spotting all our great young players who have wicked shots. This kid has a real knack at finding his fellow teammates in wide open shooting areas even through heavy traffic I was extremely impressed! Another thing to keep in mind is that Lind is very physical and is a real pain in the ass to play against but in the prospects game type situation he's obviously going to hold back on that type of intense style of play but there will be no holds barred when he gets comfortable at the AHL then NHL level. I expect great things in the future from Lind and am just as excited about him as any of our other highly regarded prospects because of the fact that he brings tonnes of intensity, physicality, can really produce offense and will be very hard on other team's top forwards some very very important things that tend to get overlooked too often but imo go a long long way to win hockey games especially big playoff style games or just intense close games that happen quite often these days. Players like Lind, Virtanen, Gadjovich, MacEwen, Lockwood, Guance and Gudbranson will really grind down the opposition and open up the ice for all our numerous basically skill only forwards and will really let them excell at their game, get them more emotionally involved and be protecters.
  15. [Discussion] 2 Vets For Twin's Place ?

I completely agree. The points the Sedins now achieve in what I see as very sheltered situations and the leadership value they offer is definitely not worth it considering their huge lack of speed, very poor velocity on shots, no power or toughness whatsoever , soft weak defensive play and bad penalties they take. Their games simply have far too many holes in it to achieve good results and their offense doesn't even come close to making up for it or the 5 or so million they'll want to play. Fact is there is plenty of other veteren players on this team that play a much better overall game and would be great leaders that the young players would look up to and learn how to play the new NHL game that has to be played to win games these days. For me all these very important things the Sedins don't do well are really hurting the team overall more than a lot of fans realize who tend to be mislead by the odd good offensive plays leading to points which seems like it has been in non pivotal moments and not when the team really needed their help. The sad fact is in most important games this season when this team was actually playing for something and needed a boost from the Sedins they were invisable in any positive ways most times getting hemmed in their own zone, getting scored on, taking penalties ,squandering important powerplay opportunities or offensive zone faceoffs. Considering all the cap room the team will have to sign better stronger players suited to the new NHL game, a few players get the chance we've seen great future potential from this season and upcoming dynamic extremely skilled helpful to the team prospects It's a no brainer that Jim Benning should and would be much better to move the team forward without the Sedins. Having the Sedins back will just set this team back longer than it needs to be.
