  1. I finally finished watching, and I just hated it. It was a case where my wife was forcing me to complete the series.

I literally had just finished watching the trilogy a week or so before this aired its first episode (partially in anticipation, partially because it streams on Prime in 4k and I had a new TV I was testing.) There's nothing I can think of that I liked about this show though, outside of a couple of plot elements towards the end.

Poor casting was one thing that took me out of the show at the beginning, but I wanted to quit altogether by the second episode. It was just plot contrivance on top of plot contrivance that kept sending the story down convenient paths. Like I know the Lord of the Rings is all about fate and ultimate destinies, but to me this was next level. The amount of coincidences in this giant world. And just the cheesiest stuff, from what people said, to what they did.

There's always an issue with a prequel where you're telling what's at least a partially known story with a completely known end point. It's a tough act to take on. But for me, something like Better Call Saul was about as good as it gets at handling these known inevitabilities. It's this heavy crushing weight that hangs over a prequel. You have to balance amd carry it so that the story you're telling doesn't feel pointless. The Rings of Power was as pointless as it gets for me.

Now I know what games to avoid going to. The only worse professional jerseys I can think of is Abbotsford's, and that awful Johnny Canuck emblem is the common denominator between them.

This is a boring kind of ugly. Like if you're going to be ugly, at least go all out and be ostentatious about it.

  3. You can look at possession metrics and xGF all you want, but you can expect 7 goals a game, it doesn't matter if they're not going in when it matters. The Lighting parked the bus and gave them the perimeter, and the Leafs were too satisfied with that. If that's what a whole period of sustained pressure with the season on the line gets you, then I don't know what to say. No adjustments were made.

They maybe woulda coulda shouda won, but chalking it up to bad luck would be a mistake, in my opinion. Not when it's the 6th time its happened. Different reasons this time, sure. Maybe the players that didn't show up last time almost played up to snuff now. But I don't see how it matters if they're just finding new ways of losing.

As someone how gets into the schadenfreude of the Leafs bouncing out early year, I'd love if they just ran it back with this same core again next year expecting a different result. That instinct just isn't there. Shuffling the bottom 6 isn't going to solve anything. Money isn't there for an elite defender.

Like even if you feel this was a 50/50 coin flip (I really don't), there would be harder more weighted flips coming against them for the next 3 rounds. This crutch some fans are using, saying it was the defending champions, is weak. Would you have rather faced the hurricanes, or the bruins, or the penguins, or the panthers? You shouldn't need to cherry pick your opponents, especially not for a first round matchup.

Just try the same thing again next year. I like the memes.

  4. I avoid watching almost any WWE at this point, because with AEW out there (and Impact, among others) I don't need to watch wrestling I hate.

But this almost one for one trade where AEW lost Cody Rhodes and gained Keith Lee in the same week was awful. Lost maybe my favourite wrestler and gained my worst.

It did make me tune in to wrestlemania for like 3-4 matches though, just to see Cody and maybe Stone Cold. Definitely had no interest in the whole show, but what I did see was pretty good.

  5. I've finished catching up right now. I don't know the current slang or all the acronyms you guys are using to describe things, but I want to use whatever term you use to describe frantic defensiveness to describe J-23.

    Vote J-23

Partially because I want to avoid getting God killed, and that's my best guess. I won't be back online until late night, I'm going to be driving somewhere during nightfall.

You usually showed up in like round 6 tbf

I mean not in the games I actually played, but I ghosted a $&!# ton towards the end there. I'm not flipping a switch and becoming super active again. But I will actually try to try this time.

  7. I feel management has been rudderless, and half adding it for years. Seeing some major changes in the way the team operates would maybe get me back into the fold as I already checked out on them 2 years or so back.

But I'm not sad to see Waston go. He was always one of our more effective players, but he's been my most hated for a while. I can't stand watching big strong players act like such bitches. if anything his departure has me more inclined to follow the team again. It's too bad that Davies will be gone by then.

  8. The Disaster Artist - 8/10

I don't like "true" stories that deviate too far from the reality they're supposed to be based on, especially when the whole "truth is stranger than fiction" is what is supposed to make such a movie so inherently interesting. But I think in the name of drama and comedy they hit the write tone with their changes.

The whole idea of chasing ones dreams to delusion, with no awareness of self... with The Room, it made for a great movie. This movie understood what made that one special.

For all intents and purposes it was more like a re imagining of Ed Wood than anything.

    Thor Ragnarok - 6/10

    ... &^@# me. I didn't hate this movie? I dunno, lol.

I thought it was supposed to be the silly comedy of a line of movie that were already way too silly to begin with. Except it kind of wasn't. It attempted less jokes, and when it did they weren't anywhere near as awful. It actually took itself half seriously.

It carried a minor sense of purpose that these other Marvel movies can't even manage. Black Panther makes this Thor movie look like Citizen Kane.

I just hope this game is not like Fallout 4.

Do we know who's developing it? I'm assuming most of Bethesda Game Studios is making TES:VI so I'm hoping it's Obsidian Games (Fallout NV dev)

I wish it was remotely like Fallout 4. The biggest problem with that game for me at least was that it tended away from RPG mechanics and standards too loosely.

...so a game like this that just outright guts nearly all the role playing gameplay, and strips away the story and world elements to the point that there will not even be NPCs?

It's less like a Fallout game, and more like a Fallout themed DayZ clone. I mean all the power to the developers and the fans that want to play such a game, but I really wish they were devoting their time and resources to literally anything else. A mediocre single player RPG would at least still be a Fallout game.
