Everyone needs to calm down with the hype on Podkolzin. You need to temper expectations, otherwise you will be disappointed. I've been following this team long enough to remember watching tape on guys like Shirokov, Jensen, etc. and this board thinking they are going to immediately be impact players. Benning is not a fool and will not part with a proven entity (like Boeser or Virtanen) for an unproven rookie. Podkolzin will have to show his worth during camp just like everyone else.

We have a roster full of young players and management needs to set the precedent: You have to earn your contract. Give BB a bridge deal, 3 years at 6 mill per.

#10 - #20 pretty much have the same chances at making it. Hopefully Benning trades down and gets an impact player in return.

Gaunce is definitely bigger than Horvat. Taller than him and has a wider frame.

I really hope Gaunce can make the team this year as a 4C. He has more offensive upside than Richardson, and already has a big frame. Plus he could come in handy on the 2nd PP unit and during shootouts. What concerns me is his point totals haven't risen since we drafted him. I know he played on a good team this year, we he seeing 2C or 3C duty?

I don't think this is a fair comparison. I'm sure over this time-frame that Nashville had alot higher picks than Boston did.

Problem with this comparison is that you are comparing OHL numbers to WHL numbers. The leagues are completely different. I think it's easier for him to dominate smaller, skilled players in the OHL. Whereas WHL teams tend to load up on alot of guys who are 6 foot plus.

Lucic in his best year only put up 60 points. I think with Kassian we are looking at a guy in the 40-50 point range. Reason being, he is an inconsistent player, and he will most likely miss 5-10 games per season due to suspension. He is now a repeat offender in the league, don't be surprised if his next suspension is 10 games.

What scares me the most is that when Gillis first got here he kept stating how good of a franchise Detroit was and how he wants to copy it. After the SCF loss he stated he wanted to follow the Boston system. Now he is looking at the Ducks system???? I don't know about you guys, but I want management that is setting trends in this league, not following them.

The only reason you trade a young star like this is if they are a locker room cancer or causing internal drama. We don't need that on our team right now.

Not gonna lie, pretty pumped about Bo Horvat. Good size, good vision, great hands in close, and likes to park himself in front of the net.

Remember when Quennville was available a few years ago? That was the time to make the change.... I have a feeling it will be Stevens since the Canucks already put it in their ear so they would spread the word about him. Every article this week in the Province has been about Stevens most likely being a "lock" for the head coaching position. What concerns me is how badly he shat the bed in Philly, and that he is a very defensive-minded coach.

OK guys, I re-watched the highlights. I was clearly smoking something very strong last night. Schroeder made some friggin' sweet passes. Could have had another assist on that bang-bang play where Raymond missed the net. That was a beautiful play btw. I'm loving the chemistry on that line. Having Kassian floating around gives the defending team always something to worry about. As long as he drives to the net and creates havoc they will put up points. Any since when did Raymond become better than average?? LOL

Was not impressed with Schroeder. Couldn't make a play to save his life. Ebbet look so much more poised and experienced...

Why isn't Kassian being used on the 1st unit in front of the net??
