  1. If we could nab Miller, and then somehow trade for Myers without giving anything super substantial, I might actually propose to Benning. Is he already married?
  2. I trust Benning. If this was Gillis on the other hand, I would've been worried about a 20 year deal + NTC + NMC.
  3. And until we have that line-up, we have some great young players right now to compliment our older ones (the Sedins, Burrows, etc).
  4. I love how there's this dichotomy between the two... Virtanen has BOTH. He's a friggen force physically, and his shot, skating, and puck possession game is reportedly top-notch.
  5. If you're talking about translating to the NHL, one word: SIZE. Virtanen > Ehlers. And stop talking about his shoulder injury like it's a concussion issue. His shoulder injury has been said to have been healing at a rapid pace, and he should be back by training camp.
  6. Also people need to remember that Jim Benning has a SCOUTING BACKGROUND. He's a hockey guy, in every sense of the phrase. He knows way more about young players and development than anyone on here. Him + inputs from our scouting department; I'm pretty sure we made a great choice. I'm just thankful we don't have Mike Gillis anymore. What a great start to the JB era.
  7. Ehlers was a risk. Virtanen isn't, I would say. Also, you DO have to put stock into players that WANT to play for your organization. Santorelli having his break-out year is a great example of this.
  8. Linden wants to bring excitement back into the game; Torts defensive system doesn't really accommodate that.
  9. Our next five games are going to be tough, but we can still do this.
  10. It was said that he's not going to return for the rest of the road trip. No big deal in regards to trade value IMO.
  11. I don't think the Canucks will be bad enough to get to the 1st or 2nd spot (to get either Reinhart or Ekblad), but I also wouldn't be surprised if they did. This season has shown that anything could or couldn't happen with this team. Realistically though, I think they will end up with a top-5. This could be the start of a nice rebuild.
  12. C'mon... just two wins in a row... please
  13. I would love Virtanen, but the fact is that he's pretty small... Perlini and Ritchie are good producers with good size. Plus they're both from Ontario - I don't know what it is, but a lot of good players come from there.
  14. Did you see the way Ferraro talked about the Canucks organization during the Trade Deadline show? He wants no part of it lol.
  15. Making things up on the spot? You would make a great sportsnet analyst.
  16. Thank you I don't know what people expected to get, but I am loving this trade.
  17. It's not a matter of undervaluing, it's just about what we could have realistically got for him. Luongo is a 35 year old goaltender who's under contract for the next eight years (I think), so expecting to get anything more than what we got is not realistic at all. I was obviously exaggerating when I said that I would trade him for a 7th round pick (I thought you could've picked up on that), but my point was that the benefit of trading Luongo is not only the return we get, but also the fact that "controversy" would be over with. So yeah, it is a great trade. I would be interested in hearing what you expected to get in return - after all, we got "fleeced" didn't we?
