It's one perspective.
My rent phase was fun too. I lived near the sea wall by Stanley Park for a year, rented with my friends for a while too before buying with my wife (who had bought an apartment before I met her so the equity in that was essentially the down payment for our place).
However, for someone that is in their 40s, 50s, 60s and still stuck in the rent trap I can see how those comments would rub someone the wrong way. It does trivialize their plight of never owning as "just a phase".
Not worth getting mad over, but Wilkinson, does deserve to hear what other perspectives sound like because not every renting experience is like his.
