Report - Calgary Flames relieve coaches of their duties
thundernuts replied to skategal's topic in Around the NHL
Who does Burkie have in his rolodex this time... AV, Crawford, Wilson... -
I remember when this happened to Jovo while he was here in Vancouver. He opened up about it publicly to help with his healing.

The @Senators announce very sad news about the loss of @ErikKarlsson65's unborn son. Karlsson will not play tonight:

Ah. Sorry, I misunderstood you there. You're right. Many won't agree with you, but the ones that do are probably goalies!

A shot that hits the post or crossbar is not a shot on goal. Give this a read https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shot_on_goal_(ice_hockey)

Haha. No, I don't do a ton of research before I post, but I do try not to assume too much. Nedved was a consensus 1st or 2nd overall pick, and the Canucks were stoked when Quebec drafted Owen Nolan 1st overall. Obviously, Jagr had a better career than Nedved, but I also believe it was a huge advantage for him to play with Mario Lemiuex in his formative years. I'm sure Jagr would still have become a more dominant player, but imagine Nedved's numbers had he been drafted by Pittsburgh. Hell, even Rob Brown had over 100 points playing with Lemieux.
-
As mentioned, Jagr wasn't expected to be available for many years and Nedved had already defected. The Canucks drafted Pavel Bure in similar fashion. Had the rest of the league know he was available, Bure would have been a top pick. BTW, this draft was held in Vancouver, and the fans blew the roof of with excitement when Nedved was selected. I guess the real question is, how little research did you do before posting?

[Trade] Canucks trade Thomas Vanek to Blue Jackets for Jussi Jokinen, Tyler Motte

I fail to see the downside of this trade. -
[Trade] Canucks trade Andrey Pedan, 4th-round pick to Penguins for Derrick Pouliot
thundernuts replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Obviously they felt he might have been picked up by Vegas or Colorado. Not much to give up anyhow. At worst, it is a swap of 2 fringe NHL dmen, and a gamble on the 4th rounder. Worth the risk. -
Sven Butenschon?

If you could take 5 former Canucks to back you up in a bar fight...Who would they be?

Right you are, although I seem to remember him having a preseason tryout with the Canucks. -

Yeah, but he's nuts. In a bar fight, nuts usually beats tough. -

+1. Thanks for clearing that up. Makes more sense now. -

The team does need to use one of it's protected spots on Edler because he does have a NTC. (Edit) /nevermind - you're correct.
