Spot on right here!!!
GM JB was too zoned in on a OEL trade. JB has had off seasons to shed the dead cap and has done nothing about it, rumour was TT wanted to come back but you can't blame the guy for waiting and waiting to see IF JB could swing a deal to move out salary. I mean TT was 1 of the very few players to get a lucrative longish term contract this FA.
We had to improve our D overall and I think we did, but it will take some time for them to all gel. We need a more veteran coach for them tho, no offense to our entire staff but they ALL have minimal NHL experience, should have at least 1 veteran coach who has been around and can whip the boys into shape when they slack off. A bunch of entry level NHL coaches in their early 40s won't hold the same kind of respect unfortunately. Same thing happens in the work place when a new boss takes over and you are close in age and now have to listen to the higher up who has the same experience as you or maybe not even as much.
For sure,
Was happy when Doug Jarvis came in to support Willie, but he moved into more of a management role
Biggest concern IMO all along is Baumer as our D coach. If he doesn't improve our Corsi CA numbers defensively, and ultimately game results with a pretty solid D on paper, JB should consider him leaving or moving to a different position at year end.
Our defensive game improved in the playoffs last year but haven't seen that result so far. Part of it is 3 new guys on the back end have to assume.

If we beat Montreal first game, we'll be half way up the rollercoaster
We often win when its the last thing people expect.. 1st line have their first game under their belt and our PP is too good be stoned this badly so expect a couple streaks to end next game.

Loui in Motte or Roussel out for the next game.
Need some kind of calming factor on our D game and PK?
Gotta try something

Welcome back Miller-time!

That's all fine and dandy but is he going to bring what Miller is going to bring when he returns?
They are different players so both bring something unique but both are key to our success.
Bo isn't nearly as vocal as Miller, but leads more by example like Sedin or Linden and brings just as much to the team.
He has no ego and that shows when he allows Miller, Petey, Schmidt or whoever to take charge of a situation
That is exactly what a great captain should be doing and he's still young and getting better
if either player is out of our lineup its a massive blow obviously

I guess he was just waiting for Miller to rejoin the team? The team needed a pick up last night, especially after a loss the game before so I was expecting the leaders to lead the team to at least an inspired game.
Heck even "whipping boy" Jake had a hit and 3 shots last night with half the ice time.
1. carries the second line
2. Never has a lazy shift
3. 71% in faceoffs last night and always is put in the most difficult situations
4. always plays the last minutes of the game offensively or defensively
5. always takes on the opposing teams top lines
Captain Bo does it all

Isn't the Captain supposed to do that?
A good captain allows other leaders on the team to take charge as well, unlike the Messiers of the world.

Millsy needs to pump up the new squad like he got them going last year

Great having Miller back
Amazingly takes pressure off of about 8 forwards, and now they can slot into positions to maximize their strengths

I really think it's JT Miller missing. When he comes back, all will be right.
Agree, i'm sure he's thrown a few objects frustrated and wanting to be in the line up. especially being healthy and ready go
Really think overall him or Bo are our most valuable players right now (more the Petey or Hughes) so without him it shakes the whole team up.

We're only 3 games in but this reminds me of last year where Marky had to clearly be the better goalie for us to win.
Calgary won the CF battle and especially grade a chances .60-40%
One of the main issues seems to be our D on paper looks very good but they haven't figured out their pairings yet. Everyone has a new partner and the communication and positioning isnt there. Especially Myers/ Juolevi and Hughes/ Hamonic.
Matching Edler and Myers, or Hughes and Myers on the same pairing may be a start, but unfortunately Edler also looks like he's lost a step.
Hope he proves me wrong and its just a slow start.

Loui had a pretty good game

Good aggressive period so far...
No stupid retaliation penalty on the hughes hit... pick your moment for that pay back.
