  1. Always appreciate the time you take to share these insights
  2. I think this is something we will see more and more across the league. Modern players want more control of their careers as early as they can so unless you are a destination city or model franchise you could have trouble retaining players. Not to mention we are in unprecedented times in regards to the salary cap, why would anyone want to sign a contract right now when everyone predicts the cap to jump significantly in the next couple of years? Much better financially to be a UFA in the next couple of years than to sign an extension with one team before knowing who will have cap room and if you can have your pick of teams at a higher number. If I was an agent that is what I would be counseling my clients to do.
  3. Am I the only one that thinks he would make a good center? Strong, defensively conscious, high work rate. I can't remember but didn't he play some center in junior leagues before being drafted?
  4. I think the best thing possible for his development would be to spend extended time in the AHL learning details and good habits in a little more forgiving atmosphere. Part of his issues so far in his career is that he would never go back down to the minors and instead went back to the KHL. If he really wants to be an NHL player he may need to buy into a similar path to what Hoglander has done this season.
  5. Thanks for the replies on Perreault, I've been trying to take a look at what options might be available if the Canucks were to trade down and pick up an extra pick. I also remember when they drafted Lekkerimaki they seemed intent on picking the guy with the most skill and relying on development for some of the more teachable aspects. Is there anyone we should be thinking about if we end up with a pick at the end of the first round or start of the second?
  6. Does anyone have some insight on Gabe Perreault? He doesn't seem to be rated near our pick but I'm curious.
  7. I wonder if the Leafs would be interested in a Schenn + Demko style deal with Murray hurt and Muzzin out forever. It would cause some chaos for them in the offseason but if they really are going for it?
  8. I think with how the season is currently going we should be willing to eat 50% of Horvat's remaining contract as well as take back an expiring contract if needed to maximizes the number of teams involved and hopefully the return.
  9. I find these retros to be incredibly bland and dull on TV, they're too dark to stand out or pop. I also think the logo is something you would find on a beer league jersey, it's worse than the Islander's fisherman lol
  10. I saw that a few days ago on one of those fan made media sites. It was meant as a list of who could be available and certainly not a "leak".
  11. Doesnt seem to be audio yet but the link was posted on the canucks facebook page https://www.nhl.com/canucks/video/pre-season--canucks-vs-flames/t-277437438/c-61022303

  13. Or you know, his genetic medical condition https://theprovince.com/sports/hockey/nhl/vancouver-canucks/ed-willes-the-bust-canuck-fans-remember-as-cody-hodgson-requires-a-closer-look "Four years after the trade with Buffalo, Hodgson, now in Nashville, was diagnosed with malignant hyperthermia (MH), a condition he inherited from his father Chris that produces muscle rigidity, fever and coronary stress. In Hodgson’s case, it was set off by intense physical activity, which is kind of a problem for a professional hockey player." “Looking back you can see symptoms since when I was a kid,” he says. “You never knew exactly what it is, but you deal with muscle cramps and tightness your whole life. It wasn’t normal." “In my case it got worse. I tore five muscles my final year (in Nashville). I’d bend over and the muscles would tear. It got pretty scary at the end, to tell you the truth.” It now seems the back injury that started his problems with the Canucks was a byproduct of the MH condition. Originally it was misdiagnosed as a bulging disc. Hodgson said, no, it’s something else. The Canucks weren’t exactly sympathetic to his cause, but they did allow him to begin training with former NHLer Gary Roberts in the summer of 2010 and the back improved for a while.
  14. Tarasenko would have to waive his no trade clause which just causes extra strain to get full value out of him.
  15. "I'm glad he proved me wrong" - IS admitting they were wrong lol
