  1. Should players come onto the ice from their players’ benches after the period ends and prior to the start of an altercation, they shall not be penalized if they remain in the vicinity of their players’ bench and SECTION 6 – PHYSICAL FOULS NATIONAL HOCKEY LEAGUE OFFICIAL RULES 2021-2022 78 provided they do not get involved in any altercations. And 70.10 Fines and Suspensions – The first player to leave the players’ or penalty bench illegally during an altercation or for the purpose of starting an altercation from either or both teams shall be suspended automatically without pay for the next ten (10) regular League and/or Play-off games of his team. There is nothing wrong with Pietrangelo leaving the penalty box (assuming he was let out- there is an issue that the timekeeper should have held him in until the skirmish was over). The issue is that he needed to head straight to the bench. Instead he went straight in and engaged a Panthers player before anyone engaged with him. It's not Vegas hate, it's literally just asking the rules to be applied. The NHL rules determine the penalty box and bench to be one and the same at the end of a period. I believe the Hockey Canada rules are even more clear with it being an automatic penalty to leave the box if there is a fight on the ice whether you get involved or not.
  2. Doesn’t matter. It’s equivalent to leaving the bench to join a scrum at the end of the game. Rules state you have to go straight off. Instead he skated to the opposite blue line and got involved. Only question which the footage isn’t clear on is did he initiate anything before getting tangled with Tkachuk.
  3. That’s fineable but not suspendable. If you want an axe swing watch Pietrangelo vs the Oilers. Lots of talk about a clip with Pietrangelo leaving the box and slew footing Tkachuk which set that off although find it interesting that I can’t find the clip.
  4. Also shouldn’t Pietrangelo be an automatic suspension for leaving the penalty box to join the scrum?
  5. I think this is the first time I've actually seen a commentary team talking about how penalties are only being called one-way in the intermission break (US national broadcast)
  6. The discrepancy of calls in this series is beyond a joke. Panthers have had a good run to this point however aren't even being given a chance at this point with the game management.
  7. Refs have made it obvious in game one who the favourite child is. Hopefully Cats can find a way to take the referees out of it.
  8. I love how Pietrangelo breaking a stick across a player isn’t a penalty but they’ll happy call soft ones like Staal when the golden knight dives and acts like he’s been shot.
  9. How the f**k is that not a high stick other than the Knights get to play to a different set of rules. And how does ref miss it on the ice in the first place and initially waive it off.
  10. He is the all-time leader for most dives from NHLDIVES which they started tracking in 2019 so I'm not sure about that haha
  11. Yuck. Can't think of anything worse than Vegas winning. Couple pretty key dives from Vegas at important times.
  12. That’s very different to an axe chop with both hands at the top of your stick.
  13. DOPS is a joke. I’m sorry but that’s a blatant attempt to injure and Pietrangelo shouldn’t be lacing up again in the playoffs. The fact that Nurse gets the same suspension for instigating shows how bad the discrepancy is.
  14. Given the JT we got once Horvat left I’m glad they didn’t have him. Didn’t think I’d say that halfway through the season!
  15. His head is barely down. I love watching hits like that for entertainment value but the NHL has changed the rules so responsibility is on the hitter. Trouba comes blindside and hit is high enough that even an upright meiers would have taken it face first. There’s a reason no one else hits like Trouba and it’s because they’d be tossed.
  16. This is what f*cks me off. Trouba is always head hunting but gets a free pass. I love old school hockey but he’s going to end someone’s career coming in from the side like that and almost always hitting the head first. guys like Myers are meanwhile are instantly tossed despite being even taller.

  18. Boston getting a ton of help from the Refs- consistently getting unearned momentum from weak calls. C'mon Panthers.
  19. I wouldn’t be so sure. The Bruins v Leafs games have been pretty tight and Leafs will be riding a high with weight off their shoulders. I’m hoping Florida go through so I don’t have to cheer for the Leafs.
  20. Leafs actually making a lot of smart little plays throughout this game that are making a difference. can’t see this ending 1-0 though so going to be a crazy third.
  21. The hit from Makar was fine but when a player isn’t even thinking about getting hit it’s just as dangerous as the outcome showed with McCanns injury. I thought that should have been much more than one game. If that had been someone like Wilson rather than Makar he’d be done for the playoffs. Looks like the NHL agrees with my assessment as no hearing to occur (although DOPS isn’t exactly the standard bearer for consistency) Btw I don’t like the hit. Think it’s predatory and unnecessary. I just don’t think it meets the criteria for a major or suspension because of where he made contact and Cogs dropping his head last second making it look substantially worse. In my mind this is why the NHL needs enforcers back- way too many gutless hits occurring these days because players aren’t scared to make them.
