It sounds like the author never experienced the shortened season of '94-'95.
This season is far from over.

time to go buy yur matches johnny, after we beat u , u can burn ur city down
That's pretty funny (and so original) coming from an L.A. fan. Didn't L.A. have riots after the Lakers won in 2000 and 2009?
And for the record, I also agree that it was a clean hit. Sedin had to crawl off the ice because he had the wind knocked out of him. The whole boycott idea is just goofy.

Saying that the Canucks are willing to package up a player in a trade is about one step below an unsubstantiated rumour.
Since the Gretzky trade, pretty much every GM is willing to deal any player if the right deal is available.
Why didn't you just stick with the 100+ post thread that this topic came from?

By that same logic, if you were in charge you would have traded Yzerman by '95/'96 because he was a nice guy but just didn't have what it takes, right?

You have an amazing power. Use it responsibly.

The season started October 6th. Luongo's first start wasn't until the last pre-season game which was also in October.
As the team has proven over the past few years, they don't need to come out of the gate with a more consistent game. They're tied for 4th and climbing the standings quickly. Minnesota just needs to stumble once and the Canucks will catch them.

It's like deja vu all over again. We had this debate all last year about the D and when Salo returned. Sometimes, these things have a funny way of working themselves out.
Personally, I think Raymond is going to need a fair bit of time to catch up with the team. He can likely do that from the 3rd or 4th line.
For that matter, I think we worry too much about fitting into cookie cutter roles for our lines. What if we tried something a little different, a little more aggressive and let other teams try to figure out a way to deal with it? The Canucks likely have enough talent to field a couple of lines that fit the typical 2nd line mold. They could go with a 1st, 2nd-A, 2nd-B and 3rd lines.
By the time other teams figure out how to deal with it, the Canucks could be well on their way.
Just a thought...

It's too bad you're not closer. We could get you out for shinny hockey.

Sounds like an unfortunate start. With the other rinks in your area, do any have actual beginner hockey lessons? Skating on flat skates with picks vs hockey skates are two totally different things. It would be great if you could learn from somebody that plays the game and along side people that are in the same boat you are.
Was there any kind of return policy on the skates? My feet were a little sore when I got my new skates but nothing like what you are describing. Is it possible to swap and go up a half size or so?

Nice. When I learned to skate I liked the stick and puck sessions because I felt like the stick gave me a sense of balance.
An introductory hockey class is a great way to go too. Most of how I learned to skate came while playing in a rec league in Victoria. Maybe the full gear boosted my confidence?
Good luck!

I hope you got a helmet to go with them!
I don't know if you have anything local like this, but at our local rec center we have a public skate called 'stick & puck'. No real gear required, just skates, sticks, gloves and helmets (pucks are provided).
It's an hour free skate where you can fire the puck at the net or just do laps or whatever. Sometimes a few guys will set up passing drills or cone relays for fun. Worth looking into.

I have a feeling though that we are going to see four divisions. Not so much for alignment, but to expand the playoffs (and playoff revenue along with it).
I'm not advocating this as I like that only 16 teams out of 30 make it, but it wouldn't surprise me to see that expand to 20. If you had four divisions, the top three teams could be in and the 4th and 5th place teams could have a short series (best of 3? or 5?) to see who gets into the main round.

I'm pretty sure Pratt has some unfavourable nicknames

I wonder though, did any other teams put in a claim? Do the Islanders just happen to be the worst team trying to gain the services of Nabokov? Would the wrath toward Snow be the same toward Columbus if they thought Nabokov was the key to get back into the playoffs (currently 4 pts out of 8th place)?

The title reads like it is a memorial piece for Rocket Richard.
