  1. I'm happy I didn't take on running this game when the Sedins were playing.
  2. Nope, I just wasn't with it this morning when I posted the threads. All fixed now.
  3. As usual, I am posting this one early due to back-to-back games. Next, next up, a quick road trip to visit the Seattle Kraken Predict the winner, the score and the Game Winning Goal (or shootout). Predict the winning team - 1pt Predict the right score, but not the right team - 1pt Predict the right team AND the right score - 4pts Predict the Game Winning Goal scorer, OR predict the winning team in the shootout - 1pt Predict the winning team, final score & GWG (or shootout) - 6pts As always, only one prediction per game, no predictions or edits after puck drop, and no conditional predictions. If you think I have made a mistake in your score, please DM me. Full game rules can be found in the season opening thread. My predictions: 5 - 2 Seattle McCann with the GWG Good luck and Go Go!
  4. As was predicted, that was Bruce's final game and it is sad to see him go. In the Colorado game, congrats to @Qwags, @D.B Cooper and @You Mad Bro? for correctly predicting the final score. Nobody knew how to spell Nichushkin so nobody predicted him to score the GWG. In the Edmonton game, congrats to @hero11, @BCNeil, @Just1CupB4IDie, @Rabbit and @wildwood12 for correctly predicting the final score. Next up: The Chicago Blackhawks Updated leaderboard: Predict the winner, the score and the Game Winning Goal (or shootout). My predictions: 4 - 2 Canucks Petey with the GWG Good luck and Go Go!
  5. Turns out, yes. "An NHL player becomes an unrestricted free agent when his contract runs out and he has either accrued seven seasons or is 27 years of age or older." My math was based on the 27 year old rule. Still, my point stands. I would prefer the Canucks not adopt a strategy of waiting for a 17 year old to reach UFA status. Although it may take that long to finally shed all these stupid long-term contracts.
  6. Hamhuis signed here as a UFA. Bedard will reach UFA in what... 2033? Byram would be a little earlier in 2029 if my math is right. Hopefully it doesn't take that long to turn this ship around.
  7. Sorry, that was a copy & paste error. I didn't mean to have that there. I was sleepy when I posted. Thanks for the heads-up.
  8. I know the Colorado game hasn't happened yet, but I am posting this early due to back-to-back games. I'll tally up both games when I post the thread for the Chicago game. Next, next up, the Edmonton Oilers. Predict the winner, the score and the Game Winning Goal (or shootout). My predictions: 5 - 2 Oilers Nugent-Hopkins with the GWG Good luck and Go Go!
  9. That was a nice ceremony for Gino. Then it was all downhill from there. Lots of points handed out tonight though, courtesy of Point scoring the GWG and the Canucks taking more than 29 shots on net. Congrats to @WHL rocks and @iinatcc for correctly predicting the final score. Next up, the Colorado Avalanchers. Updated leaderboard: Predict the winner, the score and the Game Winning Goal (or shootout). 10. It was shots on goal. I only ever ask questions that can be verified on the game sheet.
  11. Only the Fanatics ones are available on the team online store right now. I wonder if that will change and they will carry the Adidas one?
  12. That was a nice tribute to Gino. The puck has been dropped. Game on. No more predictions or edits please.
  13. Thanks, but since he wears Gino's number, I am just going to go with it for tonight.
  14. But the moves to make that happen had already occurred. Since then, despite their intentions, most moves seem to have either backfired or just not panned out.
  15. I feel like the Canucks haven't done much right in the same timeframe.
  16. From the article, "According to Michael Russo via Puck Empire, Russo feels Elias Pettersson would like to move on from the Vancouver Canucks." So this so-called rumour is based on nothing more than this Russo guy's speculation. So it's not even a rumour. It's just speculation. It's crap journalism.
  17. First off, on a personal note, I want to acknowledge the passing of Gino, one of my favourite Canucks of all time. That 1990s era was when I really cemented my love of the Canucks and Gino was a big part of that team. In fact, his was the first numbered Canuck jersey I ever purchased. While we all knew he was having health issues, I thought he had been doing well lately, so today's news was a bit of a shock. RIP Gino. As for the last two games... Congrats to @Red Wooster, @Heretic and @Coconuts for correctly predicting the final score of the Florida game. Congrats to @smithers joe, @Bo fan, @Raspberries and @fanfor42 for correctly predicting the final score of the Carolina game. Scoring note - For all those that predicted Petey to score the GWG in the Carolina game, a reminder of the rule, in the event of a shootout, the NHL doesn't award a goal scored, let alone a GWG. So no points were awarded for predictions of Petey scoring a GWG. Points would have been awarded if you had predicted the Canucks to win in a shootout. I've been doing it this way for a couple of seasons and it's posted in the rules. Next up, the Tampa Bay Lightning Updated leaderboard: Predict the winner, the score and the Game Winning Goal (or shootout). Predict the winning team - 1pt Predict the right score, but not the right team - 1pt Predict the right team AND the right score - 4pts Predict the Game Winning Goal scorer, OR predict the winning team in the shootout - 1pt Predict the winning team, final score & GWG (or shootout) - 6pts And in honour of Gino, a bonus question... Do the Canucks take fewer than, exactly, or more than 29 shots? - 1pt As always, only one prediction per game, no predictions or edits after puck drop, and no conditional predictions. If you think I have made a mistake in your score, please DM me. Full game rules can be found in the season opening thread. My predictions: 5 - 4 Canucks Pederson with the GWG Canucks take more than 29 shots Good luck and Go Go!
  18. Except you have worded it poorly in your original post. While the players may demand higher salaries, and that will put pressure on teams that spend to the cap, the cap itself is still based on a 50/50 split in hockey related revenues. You are correct that Petey and Horvat are due for a huge pay increase, but that won't push the cap up. Only an increase in league revenues will do that.
  19. I am going to go with yes, in my opinion, you are wrong. Although not by much. I feel like the lowest time was the Messier / Keenan era. That team was stacked. They were led by players such as Bure, Messier, Mogilny, Naslund, Lumme and Ohlund. That should have been a contending team. Instead it all imploded. So I feel like that era was worse than now, but only because the expectations were so much higher.
  20. Don't miss the bonus question! It's a 50/50 shot at an extra point.
