Haha you’re right. Though last season Canucks were still hoping to be competitive, this year it is expected. -

Well hopefully Louie likes Utica. NY being one of the Covid hubs, riding the bus, no 1st class lifestyle, it’ll be the first times he’s done something for his contract. If he’s not in Utica and there are fans in the stands he will be booed. The fans patience is done. It was fine when the Canucks weren’t good and he was just taking a spot and not costing anything. But now the Canucks are losing out on signing their own free agents and others because of this anchor. He will be booed mercifully. -

I think you’re forgetting about $58 million. That’s a lot of money OEL need to be paid out. Not the same at all.
-
A tad rich for Beagle and Rouss?? They couldn’t trade those contracts if they wanted too. How about Myers, Ferland and Benn? That’s almost $18 millions on depth players. You could even add Baertschi, Spooner and Sutter to Benning signings. I like Benning, he’s done great at the draft, which Canucks haven’t been good at in 50 years, but they are in cap trouble because of him, NOT Linden.
-
But he’s not so.....what are you talking about?!? In fact, he was just name one of the top 50 players in the NHL. A 1st and 3rd seems quite cheap in retrospect. What are the chances Canucks draft a player that would be in the top 100 with that mid-1st? How is this trade even debatable now with how well Miller has done?

[Report] Eriksson “NOT” likely to be moved on
sampy replied to Provost's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Messier had the luxury of playing on stacked teams his whole career. Vancouver was his first non stacked team that he was depended on to carry a team and we all know how that went. The amount of dirty hits and elbows he laid was cowardly. But you’re right, I’d take him on my team anyday, just like Marchand and Kesler. Their compete level is through the roof. Messier was a great player but he isn’t among the greatest, he’s not top 15-20 all time. -

He’s not even top 20. He’s 30th in points per game and ranked 105th in goals per game. He scored a lot of his points playing against terrible 2nd pair defenses while every team focused on Gretzky. He would do cheap $&!# constantly and never answer for it. He was a 1980’s Marchand, good (not great) player but a coward who made his teammates fight his battles. -

Nitpicking hahahaha, he made $6mil to be ok at PK. That’s not nitpicking that’s stating the obvious. Also, Beagle and Motte were the teams lead penalty killers. Check your stats again. -

Well considering most coaches want players to block shots and players are adding equipment so they get hurt less I strongly disagree. And Canucks were good on PK because of players like Markstrom and Edler and his league leading blocked shots -

Blocked shots is a useless stat?? Nope. A defensive minded player and one that plays PK tends to block shots. His takeaways wasn’t very good either, behind Motte and Leivo. -

sampy replied to Provost's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Nope. LE was 15th on the team in blocked shots last year, behind Virtanen and only a few blocked shots ahead of offensive minded Boeser. While also being -11. Defensive minded hahaha. He’s not good anymore, yes he’s human and deserves to be treated with respect but no he does not deserve or should be gifted a roster spot. If he wants those last couple million he can do it in Utica. This is a performance business, spots are earned not given. -

The trade save an extra million off the cap and more importantly 1 less year. Big yes to this deal. -

Was it the Clarkson/Horton trade? Horton was done and Clarkson was still playing. Columbus wanted the player that was still playing not on LTIR and the Leafs wanted the LTIR, so they flipped bad contracts. -
[Signing] Canucks sign Micheal Ferland

Wrong. Character and team chemistry is very important -
[Report] Vegas looking to trade Nikita Gusev
sampy replied to Canucks_fo_life's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Unless the LE signing was pushed by the Aquilini’s because they were still trying to chase playoff revenue despite everyone screaming for a rebuild. -
Because other teams wanted Miller too. Stevie Y being one of them. Which also says a lot about Miller that Yzerman was trying to trade for him again.

[Report] List of Not Qualified RFAs by Team
sampy replied to RomanP's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Supposedly he's an ass. Not worth wrecking team chemistry -
Awesome post! At what point does losing become apart of the culture? Benning has been preaching that the kids need to be developed in a competitive and winning environment or it’ll affect their development (Edmonton). How many more losing seasons must Horvat endure? For a fan base that like to consider themselves intelligent, they sure are dumb.

No to trading Stecher, such a smart player. His high hockey IQ makes up for his size. -
