  1. That's not the phrase. The phrase is "one bad apple can spoil the bunch". This isn't a one off. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/aug/27/white-supremacists-militias-infiltrate-us-police-report?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Other Thats from today. There's been systematic racism in the police for decades. All all cops racist and dirty? Of course not. But there's something systematically wrong with them, especially in the US
  2. The phrase isn't "Only black lives matter". The phrase is 'Black Lives Matter'. If Black lives don't matter, then 'All lives don't matter'. Which is why what you're saying is dumb. It's like me asking whats 2+2, and you saying "its not 3". While technically right, it also doesn't answer the question. There are countless black people who have followed police instructions and ended up dead. Breonne Taylor was sleeping in her bed and was shot to death and her killers roam free. Stop watching Fox News, please.
  3. That's not really a 'Gotcha' moment. When people come to a point where they see no future for themselves or their kids, where the government simply does not care about you, when you've been systematically put in ghettos which leaves you behind everyone else, where unless you have superior athletic abilities you probably won't be given an education that will give you a job, where you can be shot by the police for walking the wrong way, then yeah, screw Macy's or Forever 21. You need to be heard and sometimes smashing windows is the only way you can get the frustration out. If you think that's stupid, and peaceful protests should be the only way to go, tell that to the natives that have been peacefully protesting forever about 4000 (FOUR THOUSAND!) missing women in northern communities. Guess what, nothing gets done. It doesn't effect the elites or media in anyway, so they can protest all they want, "peacefully", 'over there'. Look at how many changes came from the recent protests. I'm awful at explaining things, this guy does it much better, Basically the authorities and media have been downplaying the 'riot' aspect of 'protests' since the 40's because they don't want the common man to ask the question 'why are they doing this?'. And I'm not talking about the Vancouver riots that were dumb, I'm talking about actual protests for equality and rights and freedom. If people start to see why these people are rioting, more and more people will see their point. I know I'm wording this poorly, but the video will make more sense than I do.
  4. When is a realistic timeframe for Olli to make the big team as a regular? I haven't been able to follow the farm team very closely the past few years (Work, Marriage, kid incoming, etc) but I'm hoping he can atleast be a poor mans Erhoff or something similar. Not top 10 pick good, but still very valuable to this team
  5. Benning has been a scout for most of his life, so I'll take his opinion seriously. Linden's opinion sort of means squat when it comes to drafting/scouting/etc., to me atleast
  6. If this is a weak draft class, would you guys trade our two 2nd rounders for a high first round pick and get BPA? Or are there enough players left that can be impact players in 2nd round?
  7. Making a statement that hurts our future, when we're building for the future, seems like a bad mistake
  8. 2 first rounders and a first rounder last year for the first overall seems like overpayment. Which is what it would take, but for a team with so few prospects, it simply doesn't work for us. Stick to 6th and hope Calgary goes off the board, same plan as before, ha.
  9. Whoever they pick hopefully they excel at SOMETHING, and they don't go back to the old late 90's formula of drafting guys that sort of remind them of Linden, like Josh Holden, Harold Druken, & Nathan Smith. Boy was that a disaster formula. BPA...don't go for 'all around good player'. We have enough of those in guys like Horvat & Gaunce
  10. Schroeder was the best pick available at that time. He was figured to go top 10, and fell to us, similar to Gaunce. Hindsight is 20/20, but not many were complaining about those picks when they happened.
  11. I appreciate what Lu did for us, but whats this talk of 'rightful spot'? Just because of his age? Or his contract? He was outplayed by Schneider, and management liked enough about what they had with Lack to ship him out. Nothing should just be handed to him. This fan base is far too loyal to players, you need to be more cut throat or you turn into the Calgary Flames who held onto their old core for 3 years too long. All successful franchises from the Pittsburgh Steelers to Ravens to Manchester United (well, not this year) do it
  12. Ballard has been one of our better d-men, now that he's healthy and actually allowed to play. Garrison will get better, he's got the intangibles
  13. Without book spoilers, can someone explain why Winterfell was destroyed? I thought those guys were going to surrender and go home by giving up Theon? So what was the town in ruins? Does it have something to do with the bastard son? I'm guessing we'll find out next season but thought it was odd.
  14. Yeah, I've really liked the pacing of these last three episodes. Almost too many storylines going on and I'm worried they'll run out of time this season to finish alot of them, but there are some great characters. Tyrion and Arya being the best. The assassin that Arya has now is pretty badass. I don't really care much for Daenerys storyline, though it's better now in that Qarth than in the red desert.
  15. - We're getting just as highly rated and younger player back in Kassian. Plus MAG hasn't had a full season here and he can replace the offense lost in Erhoff. - Grabner was never a high end prospect. He struggled in every camp, including Florida's which is why he was waived. He would never have gotten top 6 minutes here -Mitchell was replaced by Hamhuis. Hamhuis is wayyyy better. -Linden isn't owed anything...if he's playing beyond his usefulness its not MG's job to bend over backwards for him. It's this loyalty that was the biggest issue with the Canucks before MG got here. Players like Mitchell, Ohlund, Naslund, Morrison & Linden were great in their primes, but they were not going to help this team moving forward. Even guys like Stan Smyl being given head scouting duties for no other reason than his past play here....and our drafts showed how poor of a decision that was. The last three years MG has assembled the best team in franchise history...and improved how the franchise is viewed off the ice too (sleep doctors, capologists, player facilities, how they treated Rypien, etc). MG is the best GM this team has ever had, he isn't going anywhere, and I hope the Aquilini's see that.
  16. I hate Linden fans. Most unrealistic people ever. The guy was a decent player and great off the ice. Nothing more.
  17. He has to be an upgrade over Raymond, that's all I care about. Raymond is a decent PKer, but we have so many as is (Kess, Burr, Lappy, Hanson, Manny, Pahlson, etc)
  18. With the issue of tsunami's, wouldn't the island block most of the tidal waves from hitting the mainland?
  19. What I find funny is that people are willing to write off Hodgson because we have Schroeder/Rodin/etc. For a franchise that has probably never had two or three high-ceiling players in quick succession (or atleast not since Bure/Linden), alot of 'fans' wouldn't mind if Hodgson doesn't play for the Canucks. Just seems odd to me.
  20. Both have great vision which is great to hear. Both are smart playmakers with good shots. These two will find open players, we just need guys who can finish. Which is why it's a shame that Grabner is gone. He was the best shooting prospect we had.
  21. I thought I saw a bright flash at the corner of my eye, then I asked a co-worker if she saw anything, and she said no. As soon as she said that the thunder finally made it's way here and it shook the windows in the office! Pretty loud for something that took 7-10 seconds to reach where we are.
  22. I didn't want to say anything incase I was completely wrong, but yeah, it's a title fight, so it is five rounds.
  23. I'd have to agree, shouldn't matter how much 'expertise' you have in the sport in order to comment. Not like the guy who posted was trying to act like he was knowledgable. He just gave his predictions.
  24. Guys, other than the Lesnar/Mir fight (point deduction & late stoppage), what is Dana White's problem with referee Mazzagati? He's openly stated that he shouldn't be a referee, and that he doesn't want him reffing UFC fights, but he has no say in it because refs are decided by the Vegas fighting commission. Just seems weird to have a referee that no body wants calling fights (some fighters have said stuff too). From reading other forums, Yamasaki and big John is/were the only ones that were liked, apparently.
