  1. Fantastic having such a strong prospect group but let's be honest, we desperately need more quality defencemen. Juolevi looks great but after him there's not much, and Juolevi lacks that star quality that guys like Sergachev etc. have. Hutton has been a disappointment so far, Stecher is a serviceable defenceman but not likely to be in our future top-4, Pouliot has potential but again won't be a top-2 defenceman, we need a stud if we want to contend in the playoffs. Really hope JB picks a star D-man with a likely another top-5 pick because there might be 5 or 6 future top pairing D-men to go in the first 20 of the 2018 draft class.
  2. Drafting D-Men - A statistical analysis

This upcoming draft class looks strong on the blueline, I wouldn't be surprised if 3 or 4 of those D-men picked in the top-15 end up being stars. Lets hope we snag one.
  3. [Rumour] Josh Leivo has asked for a trade

Hutton or a 3rd round pick for Leivo
  4. Rumour - Larry Brooks - Max Domi

3 goals in 50 odd games is harsh but that entire team sucks right now, I wouldn't put stock into his slipping numbers. His value is at an all time low right now, perfect time to trade for him. Still 22, he'd fit out future core quite nicely but he'd still cost a fair bit. Hutton + Goldobin + 2nd for Domi + 3rd
  5. [Proposal]Josh Leivo has asked for a trade

Could see him go to Chicago and have immense success. The kid's got some untapped potential for sure. Could be a bust but he's a former 3rd rounder, low risk high reward type player.
  6. If they're still good for 40 points each next season that's more than just about any other bottom-6 forward this team can muster up.
  7. Are the Sedins future changing?

They're on pace for 50-60 points somehow which is incredible considering this was supposed to be their last season. If JB is smart he'll re-sign them to a cheap 1 year deal and hopefully they'll be around to mentor Pettersson and Dahlen. Ideally the two kids go to the AHL next season and you never know, a call-up here or there and they'll get to spend some prime time around the twins who would be the absolute perfect mentors for the two Swedish kids. If Daniel and Henrik can score 30-40 points next season as 3rd/4th liners they deserve a spot on the team.
  8. Bo Horvat | #53 | C

Baertschi - Horvat - Boeser Gagner - Sutter - Vanek Sedin - Sedin - Virtanen Granlund - Gaunce - Eriksson We're going to need to go on a Colorado-like hot streak to even pretend to contend for the playoffs but it's not out of the question with such a strong forward lineup and Edler playing his best hockey in years. The big problem, which has and always will be an issue, is goaltending.
  9. [Injuries] Canucks 2017/18

11 points out of a playoff spot with about a half a season to go. It's not impossible. This team was dominant with all it's players healthy, and the goalies were much better when all the defensive players, especially Sutter, Horvat and Tanev are in the fold. I'm not ruling anything out, I have a feeling this team will certainly miss the playoffs, but have a very strong run when Bo gets back and into the groove of things to make the TDL interesting.
  10. He's still a relatively young top-4 guy. I'd like to see what Holm and Wiercioch can bring to the table before we consider trading MDZ.
  11. January 3rd, 2018: Linden Meeting with Media at 11:45AM

Not resigning Gudbranson would be one massive mistake, as would trading him. We have no physicality on our blueline now or in the future. This team is soft enough as it is, but throwing Juolevi, Pouliot, Stecher and our future 2018 1st onto the ice together without a veteran tough guy is asking for trouble, and JB should know that. Hopefully it's a matter of how much as opposed to when or if. As for the goalie dilemma, I predicted this the moment we let Miller go. First time in over a decade we haven't had a true star starting goalie and now you see the importance of one. We need a veteran netminder to ease Demko into the NHL because these two clowns on the ice right now aren't good enough to shelter a rookie.
  12. [PGT] Chicago Blackhawks vs. Vancouver Canucks

Vanek is proving to be the perfect mentor for Brock and he's learning to score and pass a lot of different ways thanks to him. Amazing to see that Vaneks still got it, he's the only veteran I've seen in a while come to this team and improve his play. He has always been something special but that's a few times now where hes just decided to dominate and take over a game. Good to see Gagner a beneficiary of all this high end skill too.
  13. Vanek is really boosting his value right now which is probably what JB expected. He could easily fetch us a 2nd round pick or prospect. Ideally we snag a defenceman, perhaps a former 2nd round young D-man who isn't really flourishing yet for Vanek. That being said if we're even in 10th place come TD time I think JB will have a big decision to make.
  14. [PGT] Montreal Canadiens vs. Vancouver Canucks

I said it before the season started and I'll say it again - these two terrible backup goalies will be inconsistent, they'll play well at times but eventually they'll get tired and let in bad goals. I was hoping it would last until the 40 game mark but they've started slipping already. This is the first time in at least a decade that the team doesn't have a true bonified starter and it's going to cost us. Shame, because the offence is here for once in a very long time and with Tanev, this defence is not too shabby. We've gone from years of poor offence, average defence and superb goaltending suddenly to outstansing balanced offence, average defence and now dreadful goaltending. Real shame because with a starting goalie we'd make the playoffs easy. I'd have to say, if this team had Miller they'd be a top 3 team (injuries aside).
