So proud to have the man whose family Steveston is named after sing the praises of my father yesterday at a gathering at Garry Point.  Suggested that we owe Garry Point to him and his efforts many years ago. Listening to stories of their fight, as sparked by my Dad, to keep it "natural" and rally against a rather secretive superport in the works many years ago makes it even more special of a place to me. Proud daughter stuff. Councilors back then scoffed at the idea of having a path and natural state park there. Said no one would use it. Ha. Sure. Best place ever.  They also ensured there is a protected habitat area in the marsh.  Grateful.
