My brother is bi-polar. He has tried to kill himslef twice in his 55 yrs. He has had spirals that he loses himself in. He doesn't remember half the things he does or says. He is big, tough, and very scary during those times. He would not be here if it wasn't for the support of his familly, health care and medication. He has spent a few stints in the mental ward. I love him so much but he is not the person I idolised as a child. Dealing with him and seeing him suffer has taken massive chunks out of me. I am also not the same due to his mental health. We are all in this together as a society. Thanks for starting this thread Joe. These things need to be discussed and a lot more resources need to put toward care. One of my best friends is a Corrections Officer. He says many of the people in prison have mental health issues and should not be where they are, they are not getting the help they need.
