  1. Been here since 2008. I don't post much, but I do make it part of my daily routine to check stuff out here. This makes me sad.
  2. When the housing market collapses I'll be there with open arms... until then I'll be making tax free $$$ in the middle east.
  3. I think we found Benning's burner account...
  4. I live in Calgary (at least for the next two months) and things are insane here too. Housing has been so hot the past couple of months. I became debt-free (not including my mortgage) in September. Talk about great timing! Anyway, I'm selling my house and most of my possessions and moving to Abu Dhabi for at least two years. I figure I'll ride things out there until Canada calms the hell down and then maybe I'll move back.
  5. This is revisionist history at it's finest. Agree to disagree, I guess.
  6. Ummm.. I'm pretty sure they didn't pick Stone or Eichel or Pietrangelo or Stephenson or Barbashev or ..... And before you say that they got Marchessault just remember that Florida basically begged Vegas to take him. Vegas wasn't "gifted" anything. They picked wisely and took advantage of stupid GM's during the Expansion Draft. They then made aggressive trades and good signings and built a winner. They weren't afraid of making bold moves and moving on from contracts when needed. It sure would be nice to have management/ownership that wasn't incompetent, unlike Vegas.
  7. I don't know that we will ever win a cup without first embracing a complete rebuild. We've lost a decade trying to retool, and we are a capped out team that has some real garbage contracts and a defense that isn't going to take us very far. We should be learning lessons from Las Vegas, tbh. They've managed to acquire Stone, Eichel, Pietrangelo, etc. They're able to cut bait with players to get better players. They simply don't tolerate losing. I will say that trading Bo was a step in the right direction. Now get rid of Miller, OEL, Boesser, and Garland and we have the start of a real rebuild.
  8. The spin on these boards is, at times, enough to give a person vertigo. "We don't want that gutless puke on our team - Benning drafts character" "If we drafted Tkapuke that we we likely wouldn't have Pettersson or Hughes" etc, etc
  9. Further to this... I don't understand why so many of these (likely) same people continue to watch hockey and complain? If everything is rigged then the NHL is basically the WWE and thus why would you bother getting so worked up about it?
  10. Sounds about right. I was thinking maybe Versteeg but he wasn't the goal scorer Sharp was.
  11. You can't "get back" to a place you ain't never been I love Boeser. I'd love for him to finally crack the 30 goal mark. I agree with other posters in that we should wait and hopefully sell high on him. I'd prefer to keep Boeser, but moving the money out just makes sense.
  12. Good morning, and Happy Pi Day to you all! I created this topic to allow your inner poet and nerd to shine. Please submit your best Pi-Ku for the world to see. A Pi-Ku is like a haiku, but the syllables are 3, 1, and then 4. For Example: Vancouver, (3) You. (1) Always hurt me (4) Or.. Sometimes I Think I can do this Enjoy the day people!
  13. I don't post a lot on these boards anymore.. but here goes. I liked the Horvat trade. I don't understand the Hronek trade. This team needs to rebuild and trading away 1st round picks in a deep draft ain't how that happens. Hate, hate, HATE the Boeser, Mikheyev, and especially the Miller signings. This management group is as bad as Benning ever was. I give this management team a D-. Put it this way, if you were in a coma for the last 2 years and just woke up, and someone told you only the moves made by the Nucks in the last 2 years, you'd have to assume that Benning was still at the helm. Management/ownership has been absolute dogshit over the last decade. Our team is trash and, I got news for ya, they ain't getting any better any time soon. I love my Nucks. I've been a fan since the 80's. But this ownership needs to go. Until it does, I'm about done supporting the team. As a fan, I vote with my dollar.. that's about all we can do. /end rant
  14. I can't see the players agreeing to non-guaranteed contracts (which is essentially what this is)... but I would love to see teams be given the ability to buyout a contract every year, penalty free.
  15. Suggesting being gay is a choice is certainly based in ignorance. I don't really have a comment on the religion part. As for the rest, we can be civil and respect that we see it differently. Also we agree that his stance is wrong.
  16. The player did not participate in the pre-game skate. Nor did he speak out against the community. Seems pretty neutral to me. For the record, I think the player should have participated. I don't agree with his stance at all. But there's a difference between not supporting something and condoning the opposite stance. Again, there are more than two choices. How about we agree to disagree on this?
  17. Refusing to support something is NOT the same as supporting intolerance. A person should have the right to be neutral. I'm all for equal rights - we should always look for commonalities, not differences. But this "you're either with us or against us" mentality is a path that I hope society stops going down.
  18. I'll reiterate what most on here are saying. You don't owe each other anything. Like you said, it's been a month and she hasn't messaged you either. Time to cut ties and move on. You had something special but it's over. Trust me, you will find all that (and more) again. Give yourself some time. DON'T REACH OUT TO HER. Be good to yourself, you deserve it.
  19. I thought that bit was hilarious. Benning is/was a dolt that screwed this franchise over royally.
  20. Honestly, I'm thinking about doing an all-inclusive somewhere hot this year. Never done one - when I travel I usually stay in hostels so this'll be pretty different!
  21. That's incredible. I can't fathom being able to run at that pace for that amount of time. I did two halfs this year and both were around 1:53.... Good on them!
  22. Thanks for the replies. Yeah, every month I'm putting money into a TFSA and then from there I will direct some of it into other things like MF. Historically, the MF's have performed well over time, and the idea is that I'll be looking at a 10-15 year window before needing them so I should be good. It's hard being a new investor and seeing your MF drop 1.2% in 2 days, though!
  23. Is now a safe time to invest in Mutual Funds? I'm a newbie investor. Just bought some MFs through my bank (I'm told they are medium-low risk) and will be making small purchases every month to add to it. I've been told that, long term, MF will always perform.. I just can't worry about the day to day fluctuations. I'm looking at this as a 5-10 year investment, maybe more. It's not that I'm risk-averse, necessarily. It's more that I don't know what I'm doing but I'd rather get my money to work instead of sitting in a TSFA. Thoughts?
  24. Not be super nit-picky but I believe Motte's career high is 16 points. Not to say that he can't score 20+ points if given the chance, but he hasn't done it yet.
