Congrats to EP for a dominant season in the SHL on the big ice surface. Sounds like he is going to Denmark next month, which will have some good competition. As a personal wish though I would have preferred him come to NA to get in some Utica Playoff games, even if they get bounced in the 1st round. It re unites him with Dahlen, gives our AHL fans something awesome to see and gives EP a taste of pro level hockey on the smaller NA ice surface. To add to that it would give him a longer off season to rest/train and hopefully add in theory 10lbs of muscle, but because of his build I think 5lbs of muscle by training camp would be as much as we could expect. EP wont fill out a lot but here is hoping he can with good nutrition/workout program going forward. The World's games will be televised though will they not? So we should get to see him play against men next month, which would be nice!

Too bad EP isn't pulling a Dahlen and joining Utica vs going to Sweden camp. Would be great to give him a taste of pro hockey on the smaller ice surface before the start of next year. I suppose he can work through that during training camp and pre season games. But joining his buddy for some Utica playoff games would have been a great story and awesome for our AHL fans to see!
  3. [Proposal] Tanev To Toronto

Lets not help Toronto be a better team defensively. I will trade them Eriksson though! Never want to help Toronto, least favourite team in the league.
  4. New team logo/logo change

Personally it has been 20 years of the whale. Owners have changed, depending on the renderings of the prospective new logo options they come up with I would definitely entertain changing the logo. I do like the colour scheme of Blue & Green, I wouldn't want to see those disappear completely.

It's too bad about Goldy if that is true. Yes, he played in the NHL but being a leader and go to guy to try and go on a championship quest would bode well for him as a player and to Canuck management and coaches. Time will tell I suppose. Great to hear about Jasek I hope he becomes a new version of Hansen!?

Goldy is most likely going through the motions of playing. I hope he steps it up come playoffs and tries to dominate. He has a great skillset, but these AHL playoffs are going to be interesting to see how he does vs Dahlen in my opinion. Could very easily see Goldobin get shopped or moved at the draft if Dahlen shows he can play over here. If we wait till pre season we risk losing Goldy on waivers, or getting next to nothing for him. Big off season for Goldy, he needs to gain strength and work his arse off and come to camp ready to compete and show he belongs and can beat out some younger prospects. I hope he can, but won't be surprised if he thinks he can rely on his skill alone. Any idea on the line up for todays game? Dahlen going to get in back to back games I hope?

Put Dahlen in and give him little support eh? Kid can't do it all, I don't expect him to light it up right away. Just happy he is playing on the normal NA ice surface finally. Hopefully he plays well tonight!

Congrats on the Kraft win, hope the $ makes for some good improvements! Free stream of the Utica game today would also be nice but unlikely, and not worth $10 a game to watch AHL hockey game

Megna is now a healthy scratch in the A? Oh how the times have quickly!
  10. Team Review and Suggested Moves (Discussion)

inquire about the price tag to acquire Justin Faulk from Carolina. That would be something I would like to see us do
  11. 2018 NHL Entry Draft

Depending where we end up after the lottery I would be fine with trading down a bit and drafting Bode Wilde if we could snag another 2nd round pick? Say trade with NYI for 1 of their 1sts and a 2nd?
  12. 2018 NHL Entry Draft

Currently set to draft 6th overall, we have a great young sniper who wears #6, maybe this is the magic draft position to be in? Only a few weeks till we find out what the lottery has in store for us

I think if he is on the same line as Boeser, the Backstrom comparison is a good one. When he plays his 1st NHL season he is going to get decent ice time and for sure will be on a PP unit, likely the first as his passing is going to be unmatched on our team. EP might top out at 185lbs, his brother is 182 and is 24 years old. I would love to see him get more mass and be hella strong on the puck and not get knocked around. I think he will do we protecting it, and at times he will get knocked around a bit. When we played Columbus we saw how elusive Panarin was, he is 5'11 168lbs, so I don't know speed wise who is faster Panarin or EP but there are ways for him to be effective if he stays slender. I do like the idea of having a winger with some size on his line, maybe Gadjovich can be that player from our prospect pool? I just hope Dahlen, EP, Jasek & Juolevi are playing in NA next year. Palmu the year after, start bringing our prospects over to help our farm team depth wise and allow these prospects to gel.

Thanks for that, how does Jasek from 2015 and dipietro from 2017 have to be signed at the same time even though drafts were not the same. There is a reason I am sure, but just seems odd how we have such a short window of just under 2 years to sign some prospects but many years for others. Guess it has to do with where they played hockey prior to being drafted or if they end up gong to college after like Rathbone... same draft as dipietro but we have 3 full years longer to sign him. Either way I am hoping Jasek impresses enough to earn a deal for next year to play in Utica. We always deplete them and get them signing a bunch of PTO's, giving someone like Jasek a chance seems like a no brainer idea to me. He may start lower in the lineup but can earn ice time how any other play does by playing well, injuries and call ups.

Did we sign him to the pro tryout to get a better idea if we are going to give him a contract. He was drafted in 2015, so won't he need to be signed soon for us to keep his rights otherwise he goes back in draft?
