  1. Kevin Bieksa you are really...

Alright well you've proven two of my arguments useless so I'll try something else. People like to get on Luongo for his attitude, the way he looks after a goal, his mental fragility and what not. We're paying 4.5 Million a year, for a defensemen who seems to be on the ice for an inordinate amount of goals. Who doesn't look like he has the greatest attitude on the ice. (loves the head-thrust-up-in-the-air move that people hate Luongo for), and a guy who generally gives the puck away a fantastic amount. Can you honestly tell me he's worth the money? Worth the hassle? For the amount of offense he consistently brings, I don't think so. And it'd be one thing if the guy admitted flaws in his game, but we're talking about one of the more arrogant, egotistic, douche bags in the NHL (which I love), who seems pretty set with the idea that he's fantastic at every facet of the game.

When's the last time we saw Bieksa do something..."tough." Stand somebody up at the blueline? Nope. A big hit, on the boards or otherwise? No. A fight? One this year. Yeah, he's tough, so what? Doesn't do anything with it except give the puck away a bunch.
  3. Kevin Bieksa you are really...

I'm not sure why people are surprised. This whole, "suck it up until you get your contract year" thing has been going on with Bieksa since we called him up. NTC for five years...???? unbelievable.
  4. Wow. Great post on your new topic. I really like it. :)

  5. Kevin Bieksa you are really...

Not possible. As Lonny will tell you, I have been displeased with Bieksa on many occasions, but anyone who can't see that he's played pretty much the best he ever has in the NHL this season, is looking through his own little bubble-vision glasses.
  6. Kevin Bieksa you are really...

I just want him to either bring it offensively, or become reliable defensively. Because if you're not either of those, you shouldn't be an NHL defensemen. He obviously has the offensive ability, I mean, we've seen it in the past with his 40 point seasons. And we've always been able to overlook his defensive shortcomings because he brought that presence. Problem is, it hasn't been here this year. So he either has to simplify his game or figure things out offensively, or to be quite blunt, he has no use to this blue-line.
  7. Kevin Bieksa you are really...

Honestly, I just don't understand how anyone can say that Bieksa has played up to par the last two seasons, or even close to his salary. For every good play he makes he screws up 5. Not good enough from a supposedly top 4 D.
  8. Kevin Bieksa you are really...

Problem is, I think without Bieksa as his anchor or...weight, depending on how you look at it, I think he could be our best two-way d-man, bar none.

As I mentioned, if you watched the games, which I'm assuming you have, would have seen how great Hamhuis has played in his games. Hard to be offensive when your defensive caught up the ice 5/10 shifts.

I think he played well in the Carolina game personally, but Bieksa really has to change his game, or figure things out quickly. You can't honestly say he's been a shining beacon of power on the blue-line. He's been god-awful really. It has alot to do with his playing style, which has him noticeably out of position several times a game, or his ineptitude on special teams, or his inability to make simple reads in our own zone, or his first pass that seems to find its way onto an opposing players stick much more than it should..If he simplified his game to being mean, and defensively responsible, we wouldn't have a problem. He hasn't been very good for a couple years now, and certainly not worth the money he's getting. Also, for all his defensive short-comings, he always was an offensive cog, and this year, he has no points in 6 games so far. All around, just a bad player in my opinion. I have more confidence in Alberts, and i have no idea how AV still keeps giving him such ridiculous minutes, with how many goals against he's on for. If thats not bad enough, Hamhuis has shown an amazing amount of potential offensively, which he can't realize when covering for KB every game.

As usual? lol. How often do I even post here? And it doesn't take a stats expert to see that Bieksa is a below average hockey player, especially for a team of our supposed calibre. Edit: And a Blueline of our alleged depth.

Thank you. If you think stats tell the story, then the Maple Leafs are going to be the best team in hockey this year. Anyone who has been watching Bieksa for the PAST 3 YEARS, can tell you how much of a liability he's been. Maybe we were spoiled by the aggressive, feisty, offensively charged, non-defensively-compromising defensemen that we were shown in Bieksa's first year here, but since that year, and his brand spankin' new 3.75 Million dollar contract. He's been downright awful. Just, awful. Been saying this crap for 3 years now, and only now people seem to get it. I can bring out the same stats that someone posted on HF, showing just how bad he's been the past couple years, including his grossly inflated goals against average.
