  1. After viewing this thread....... And viewing this thread....... ....I felt compelled to post my thoughts on these issues. Firstly, and most importantly, this all means nothing if medical leaders put the kybosh on any such events in any of those time periods; very much a no brainer. That being said........... ......On the topic of the Draft. There's no way that can happen till after the season's done. Seriously. How can trades/movement be accomplished? Ya' can't do that before teams finish this season. Players with knowledge that they're playing for another team and location next season, while having to finish play with their present team this season, would be an emotional hurdle of monumental proportions to overcome. .......Finishing the Regular season. In the event that it's a 99.9% go ahead, needless to say, all Covid-19 precautions will be executed; no exceptions! They can stagger 14 day isolating and such as the teams/NHL see fit with regards to their respective 4 Divisional regions selected. Looking at this............ Okay. I'm just a Canuck fanboy and have been watching hockey since the 'Nucks entered the league in 1970. I'm not an expert. I just have ideas....... ........This is what I think should go down......... We see the max amount of games played for some teams is 71 while the Canes and Isl's with 68 games played the least. Staying with the max 71 games played and for example sake, we'll stay with the Metropolitan Division......... - Teams with the least games, play each other. So, Isl's vs Cane's play each other.....now they're at 69. - With the remaining Four teams at 69 games, these Six are then arranged in regards to their records. Then 3rd vs 4th, 5th vs 6th....You get it... - Until such time that all teams have played the maximum games in their respective divisions, in the Metro Div. Rangers and Jackets at 70 games. Then all teams within that division again are arranged via their records, and then 1st vs 2nd, 3rd vs 4th...........blah, blah, blah.............. Then the teams in their divisions are again arranged as such regarding their records, and they do it all over again with this format till the amount of games played set by the NHL big wigs, are done......I don't know what that number will be, but Covid has really been a factor and less games to finish the season, the better. All rules for the regular season apply. It's interesting to note that since the NHL is proposing four regions felicitous to respective division regular season play, then it's logical to return to one of two Divisional playoff formats Round 1......12-16 teams - Back to old school...2nd vs 3rd in a multi 3, 5, or 7 game series. Top seed earns a bye.............Or................ - Top Four, 1st vs 2nd, 3rd vs 4th via multi game series Round 2......8 teams - Top Two Division winners play Quarter Finals via multi game series Round 3......4 teams 'This is where it gets tricky regarding Covid-19 issues; Two individual teams requiring to play in One region/city/arena only. Another 14 day delay for isolation of one or both teams. Makes most sense for top team to stay while the other travels to that city for the Semi's.' - Top Two Division winners in their respective Conference play Semi's via multi game series With the first two or three rounds, play less games; for reasons below.... Round 4.....2 teams... Stanley Cup Finals!!!!! - As per usual format. Same Covid-19 issues as mentioned above. Leave the Finals at a best out of Seven I'd like to see less games played to shorten an already delayed season. Mostly because of the Covid-19 precautions. I strongly believe those precautions will be in effect at that time and long after a 2019-2020 Stanley Cup Champ is crowned.......... Wait at least Two Weeks after the SC to do the virtual expansion/entry draft. It was mentioned somewhere the concern of Arena Ice Integrity with hockey going on in the warm summer months. Without live spectators in the stands to raise rink temps, I don't think it's an issue. The TV and stream viewing will be off the charts! I'm sure everyone involved will make some serious money from all this effort..........If this happens at all..........aroo........
  2. I'm an oldster and seen lotsa 'Nuck games on TV. I live on the island, so I've not seen many live games. That being said........... .......Playoff games, most of 'em, get my attention. It's easy to get excited and charged up to route for our 'Nucks when they're in the playoffs. It's a given. 2011's "Slay the Dragon," game 7 is right up there. But I'm gonna have to go for the Sedins last game in Vancouver.
  3. Here's the whole game......... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0TvIIOlo0cg
  4. Seeing as it's Covid related, I'm guessing this query will be in the correct forum. So............ Other than the signings and such regarding prospects, are NHL teams during this special time restricted from doing trades and such? Is there a date in which they can do such? I presume it all rides on whether or not the season resumes, but I'm thinking the season's done for 2020. No playoffs...Nuthin'.
  5. In the event that it is decided and they do a virtual draft, they can totally turn it into a Sports TV event and televise it. In so much as I'm enjoying re-broadcasts of past games, a live broadcast of the NHL kind....well........would definitely be welcome. Starving for Canucks hockey in Victoria....And doing my part in the Covid-19 era. Cheers.
  6. I think Greenie's doing okay for us. Hell. I even think he'll still be our coach even if we don't get to the playoffs this season. I believe if not this year, then next year for sure. I believe he deserves it. If we don't get in next year, then perhaps the likelihood of his dismissal will come to fruition and he'll just be another Willy D......OR............. He has success coaching good young teams and gets his chance to coach a contender, ala, Barry Trotz.........hmmmm......
  7. It's too bad about us and LE. I actually like what he brings to the table. Unfortunately with us, it's all about the money. We'd love him if he..... - clicked with the twins like he did in the Worlds...or...... - Was cheaper. Any of those two scenarios and we would love him. But to the topic.............. I think Green ain't no dummy. He knows what LE brings to the table, and money be damned! Yea, sure. Let's bring up some Utica blood and give 'em a chance. I'm all for it, but does it guarantee a playoff berth? Not necessarily.
  8. We do need this test. So far we're failing. Still some games left, but all in all good efforts thus far. However, good efforts need to be rewarded with wins. That's really what we need. Wins! That being said................. IMHO, I really don't think we're there yet. What I mean to say is, we're not playoff contenders. Still some key pieces required. Those pieces just might be in our prospect pool right now, but we wont know for a few years if they'll actually be the diamonds needed. Hoping they will of course, but................ My guess is there's still an acquisition/acquisitions required that'll put us right up there. Like a free agent or trade. As we all know from past successful teams, Canucks or otherwise, there was that acquisition that made all the difference. Like that six player trade that got us Ronning, Courtnall and such. Or the Blues getting Ryan O'Rielly, Vegas getting Stone, Patch, and Stasny. You get what I mean. Also...... It doesn't hurt to have some perennial all stars that you've drafted, Toews/Kane, Crosby/Malken, Ovi/Backstrom, etc....even McDavid/Draisaitl. (I'm not an Oilers lover, but...Yes. Them too! Holland has already started to build around his all stars!) We've been lucky in the Benning era drafts thus far. I'm a lil' worried regarding Flow cuz he seems not as good since his first injury. I know he's got set backs with his dad and new injuries, but jeez....sure miss that shot of his. I'm putting all hope on Pod. I'm really hoping he'll be the game breaker we've been looking for. Not saying Miller/Petey/Toffoli aren't in that role, but compared to uh....Nathan MacKinnon???!?!?!?!
  9. Is everyone just hopeful of Tree's return, or is there actually a legitimate return. I'm not tryin' to be a Debbie Downer, but I don't see the point in discussing how much better we'd be when he's not even in the league. It's all speculative, right?
  10. Hmmm.......maybe if the organization opted to build the team around Kes instead of the Sedins.....Hmmmmmmm What if..........
  11. Most of the angst seems centred around our goalies. I'm not worried . We still gotta sign Marky and he deserves a big raise. If Seattle snags him, then they sacrifice players in other positions for a great, re pricey, goalie. We lose Thatch? Then we get a capable, affordable backup while developing Dipietro. Besides, why would Seattle pick on lil' ol' Canuckville for a goalie. There's other great options out there.
  12. As to the way he left the 'Nucks? I say, so what! A player wanting a trade out of town happens. Roster's rarely stand pat after successful seasons and the Kes situation was a casualty not unlike other teams had to deal with. With that said...... I'm all for his induction in the ROH. Dude's credentials when a Canuck says it all. He was a passionate player for his team. A warrior. A team mate you'd want on your team. I recall him saying, when he played for the USA olympic team, that he hated team Canada. That's truly heated passion. You cannot deny he was such for our 'Nucks. And remember, he was a late 1st rounder that we chose. An original Canuck! Dedicated as such for the decade he was with us. But...... We CDC'ers love to bitch about how hurt we are. How he left town and left us bitter as all h#ll. Well, I got news for ya'....we're passionate about our team too! It may take a bit more time for those who still hold a grudge against Kes for his decision back then, but you can't deny he deserves his name up there.
  13. Hmmm.... a lil' off topic. But the fact we're tops in the Pacific. That's the biggest one to me. However. Getting back on topic.... Good surprises: - Markstrom playing like a #1 - Levio's continued success since we got him. - Tanner Pearson's resurgence - Quinn Hughes rookie campiagn. His continued success at his position was a delight to see translated to the NHL. I figured he'd struggle. i was wrong! - Demko's development as back up and possible future #1 - Tanev in the lineup still! Not Good surprises: - Ferland's concussion issues playing a part in his lack of play and play in general - 3rd, mostly the 4th line issues when Sutter is out - The Flow's lack of goals. Thought he'd be up there with the other top young scorers - Bo's production - Lack of effectiveness from Utica call ups Might be others I've missed, but that's all I can think of right now.
  14. Must be my age. I forgot about these two. At the present and the past few games, we didn't miss 'em. That being said. Schaller and LE? Fantenburg in for Benn? Plus the call ups from the farm? I guess that bodes well for our depth. To be honest, I don't know who should sit when both those guys return. Levio makes us better, and I'm iffy on Ferland. I was high on the Ferland's acquisition, but so far he's been a dud.
  15. Don't need him. He'll be more serviceable to a SC contending team. He'll be snatched up by an eastern conference contender.
  16. The 1st paragraph pretty much nails it right here. It'd be a great thing to squeak into the playoffs this season for sure. Can do alotta' good for the mind and moral of the players and team. Especially for the young core. And though the free agent vet acquisitions we've currently on the team may not be there when the 'Nucks become SC contenders, their presence and leadership through our present campaign are invaluable as such in the event we get in the playoffs this or next season. Regarding the 2nd paragraph; I would agree there as well. I'm guessing that at least a player in each position will be an NHL player for us. Hopefully a couple will become part of the core. "......We've got serviceable depth right now though....." Serviceable is about it. Trades or acquisitions come this season's deadline as y'all know, is dependant on where we stand at that point. If we're in no doubt of a playoff scenario, JB will stand pat and may only address any needs because of injury. BTW. This I believe is only the second topic thread I've entered into the 'Nucks forum. So glad to see some concise, logical, and intelligent replies. I know the peanut gallery in CDC can be a rough crowd. I don't sign in and comment too much. But sometimes the urge hits me to do so. Thanks CDC'ers!
  17. First off, Thus far, I'm delighted by the draft recently in the JB era. Reason for optimism for sure! I'm of the ilk that we're not contenders for the big prize yet. Playoff bound contenders, yes. That being said.................................. Usually a SC contender is subject to injuries during playoffs. And it's not uncommon for a prospect and/or rookie call up to shine when an opportunity arises. My question/questions regarding this........ Do you think we've depth enough in our prospects now or in the near future? Anyone think we require depth acquisitions or stand pat.......
  18. Well....I dunno for sure....but those recent back to back matinee games out east in Florida might be telling.
  19. ".........Linden who was clutch even when he was older. " Old????? Linden was the same age then, as Horvat is now. Bure was a year younger than Linden . And Bure not only was the greatest goal scorer playing for the 'Nucks, he was as such, one of the greatest goal scorers in the league. Plus one of the fastest skaters ever. even by today's standards. I'm stoked for our present and upcoming lineup. Yes, the future is bright, but its full potential is yet unseen. Give it a couple of more seasons. That being said, watching them now is making me smile alot more!
  20. What? Jet's Cold Hard Bitch ain't good enough??!?!?!?
  21. Injuries an' all. This is the game breaking winger that the Canucks need to get over the top. And a big d-man with a wicked shot!
  22. What kind of kick....flying, full force kung fu style....or a simple, "Get yer head out of yer ass!" type of kick. Seriously. What constitutes an offensive kick.
  23. A great way to bring on "Good Juju" for future games!
