  1. Olli Juolevi | D

My motivation is that I care about the young mans life and hope he gets the help he needs. Video game addiction isn't something that is generally taken seriously and if any light being shone on it can help someone seek help than that is a positive. I've seen what addiction can do first hand. If this puts me in an "interesting light", and you assuming I'd have any other reason to take interest in it, puts you in a good light then so be it.
  2. Olli Juolevi | D

Marek said it happened a year ago. Meaning the 2017 draft hadn't occurred and that puts Juolevi on the knights. So that leaves the 2015 or 2016 drafts. Maybe but how do old guys like Salo or Benning describe a problem (video game addiction) that they don't understand. If you're showing up to practice/games on 2-4 hours sleep I think that shows as poor conditioning even if it's just being tired. You may think it's stupid but video game addiction is a real problem that people have lost jobs over, marriages over and died because of. 1. I apologise if Evan Bouchard never said that. I can't find the radio interview/source so take it with a grain of salt. What I'm going off of is someone has posted a transcription of a radio interview with Bouchard where they claim he said "I think he did uh, he did play video games, he'd go home a lot just to play video games so I don't know, he didn't go out too-too much but uh he was always at home playing games" 2. No it wasn't referring to a player in the CHL THIS season. Marek specifically says he was talking to a CHL GM a year ago and that the league had to get this player help that it got so bad. Everything he says is in hindsight from a year ago. 3. Great, maybe that explains why his game turned around.
  3. Olli Juolevi | D

It was Jeff Marek and he specifically said it was when he talked to a CHL GM a year ago. Marek also says the player was a 1st round draft pick; then further narrows it down to a high pick. A player from a VERY prominent NHL team. CHL player. Juolevi played in the CHL a year ago. Because it was a year ago it eliminates 2017 draft. Initial players coming to mind were Alex Nylander but he's never played in the CHL or wasn't at that time. Ho-Sang; however, I'm not sure the Islanders are a VERY prominent NHL team. Add in a lot of odd comments from coaches - Salo saying his conditioning needs to be better if he's ever going to play in the NHL. Very poor showing at development camp. Evan Bouchard stating that Juolevi loves to play video games then back tracking a bit. When you're up all night playing video games and only getting 2 hours of sleep it could explain a lot of what is going on with Juolevi. There are small things like you're a LOT more likely to get sick/flu. It could also explain why he was often used so little this year. I know a lot of people are going to disagree but if you look at who it could be from the 2016 and 2015 draft you end up by process of elimination with only a couple guys. Juolevi is one of them. And remember these were comments from a year ago so we can't entirely use his improved play this year to disqualify him.
  4. Are you serious? Have you not seen all the people claiming the lottery is rigged? As Baggins pointed out each team has a rep present for the lottery process. An independent 3rd party performs the process. It's not rigged and the reason it's not aired live on TV isn't proof it's rigged like some are claiming.
  5. If we couldn't trade him at this deadline, why are we getting a 1st, 2nd, 3rd for him now? I'm sure JB would have taken this deal already if it was presented.
  6. Because it's boring as hell. Exactly. I'm sure all 30 GMs present are too dumb to see something being rigged right in front of their eyes. Quit with the conspiracy theory crap.
  7. 2018 NHL Entry Draft

Don't you think that if he's projected to be an Anze Kopitar that he'd be ranked higher though?
  8. Baertschi isn't going to cut it. He's the new Raymond in "Raymond, Ballard and a first". I don't know where you're getting that from. Why would the Canucks trade up to 3rd when they need a d man and there will be plenty available at 7. I think you'd see them trade down before they trade up.
  9. NHL 2018 Draft Lottery

I would have loved to have Dahlin obviously but I wasn't expecting much. Our best odds were to finish 7th and we did. In terms of the top 3, I think this is the best case scenario for the Canucks. Buffalo needs D. Had they dropped to 3rd or 4th they may have gone off board and taken a D, meaning that's one less for us. Carolina is stacked on D and will take a F. Montreal has Mete and Weber on D and will likely take a F as well. Ottawa has Chabot and Karlsson on D and may lean towards taking a F. This leaves more D prospects for the Canucks.
  10. 2018 NHL Entry Draft

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I think he's just being a knob at this point. It's like me stating "Daniel has done well considering the only elite centre he's played with during his career is Henrik". More context was needed but anyways.
  11. 2018 NHL Entry Draft

Yes I understand that. What I'm asking is has he not spent much time playing with Mittelstadt?
  12. 2018 NHL Entry Draft

Did he not spend much time playing with Mittelstadt?
  13. 2018 NHL Entry Draft

??? Mittelstadt is a great player...
  14. 2018 NHL Entry Draft

Still going on about size Alf? Is there something we should know? The fact someone created this without concern for size, and how commonly it's used, should tell you of how little importance it is. Speed is the new size.
  15. [Proposal] Trading For 1rst Round Picks

My $1,000 vs $1,000,000 comment wasn't regarding Montreal or Ottawa; it was in regards to your who would you rather have question. Asking if you'd rather have Baertschi vs Svechnikov is like asking if you'd rather have a Porsche or Hyundai. Neither yourself or I said trading OJ would be giving up on him. I was referring to the comment you made that we need to load up on draft picks but then also state we could trade OJ or Virtanen. Doesn't that kind of contradict what you're saying? On one hand we need to stockpile draft picks but then you're advocating trading those draft picks a couple years later? Or maybe I misread what you wrote and you're suggesting specifically stockpiling TOP draft picks? In which case it could make sense to trade guys like Juolevi and Virtanen for top picks specifically. I'd still prefer not to trade either. I'm a fan of both players but I'm not sure Juolevi's stock is at an all time high and definitely not Virtanens so I'm not sure we'd be selling high on either.
