  1. How far is Michkov gonna drop? Does his father's death and a potential conscription make him want to leave Russia ASAP?
  2. I'm pretty happy with just watching highlight packages on Youtube and listening on the radio when I can. I haven't watched a live game this season and I'm not mad about it. Just reading the comments about the officiating is enough to make me feel vindicated. I just can't spend money to watch such utter consistency, it sucks all the fun from the game.
  3. Hockey is the best sport there is - with that said, hockey has THE WORST officiating in any professional sport worldwide
  4. Not with all these gatekeepers who want to author the book on "what you can & can't do to be considered a fan". I've been on this ride since '93 and if I'm upset about the team I can't think of a better place to voice my displeasure - short of calling in to radio. If someone throws their jersey on the ice, whooptie doo. Their loss. So what. I wouldn't do it but I don't sit on a pedestal and condemn those who do. This team is playing historically horrible and uninspired. Putting lipstick on a pig isn't fooling critical thinkers. I'll cheer when I have something to cheer for.
  5. It'll never happen but skids like this make me wish the NHL had NFL-style contracts where teams could drop a player a year or two into their multi-year contract. Who is Pettersson even playing for at this point? What is he doing that is even respectable?
  6. First few seasons I loved Petey, the player and person. With how this seasons unfolded so far I still love Petey the person but the player does not command respect. Remember the game a few years back vs. Pittsburgh where he checked the D along the boards, caused a turnover, stickhandled and made a pass to Boeser for a goal? Petey used to be friggin intense on the ice. It was palpable. I loved it. Now he seems like he's depressed and doesn't want to play. I make my money by the hour and I just don't have time to watch rich kids sulk when things don't go their way. Sorry not sorry. Other things to do.
  7. I haven't been watching the games so I didn't realize that. Good eye. I'd look at the goals he allowed the past week or so before the switch back and see if they were "un-Demko like". Maybe it's a comfort issue. Maybe it was a suggestion from Ian Clarke. Hope he has more luck with them.
  8. Apologies if this question has been asked before - how much money, if any, does a player earn on a PTO?
  9. Self promotion time - I was at the game in '94 and sometime around 2009 I made a song about it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6FptoV_fqc
  10. If we have the chance to trade him at the deadline - trade him. Can't let him walk for nothing, I'd take a 5th round pick if that's all that were available. JB typically gets owned in free agency, if that's the route he went I'd be clutching my pearls.
  11. So glad I turned it off after the first period. Had other things to do than yell at my monitor. Hope Gaudette can figure it out but I'm not putting my eggs in that basket. The goal he scored was a bit of a lucky one and doesn't redeem him for the giveaway on the PP. Also, Sutter's contract expires at the end of this season. That's a big hole to fill - 3rd line centre, PK, & occasional winger duty, and I don't think Gaudette is ready for that or if he ever will be. Crazy how at the end of the playoffs things looked so promising and like there was light at the end of the tunnel. Now it seems like we've taken 2 or 3 steps back. I've always been a Travis Green supporter but it's hard to defend him after the team looked like that tonight. I also think Newell Brown is an hindrance to the talent we have on the PP. Very happy to have Schmidt on this team but I don't think he's found his comfort level and place on this defense yet. Petey needs to buck up.
  12. I know it was against Ottawa and all but gotta give credit where credit is due: Myers with the highest TOI, most PK time by a mile, +2, and a couple hits & blocks. Good game for him. edit - not by a mile, Beagle was right there with him
  13. Stoked! I'm not expecting the first period to be the smoothest hockey game I've seen. Hope the Canucks can weather the McDavid blitz and be the sharper team throughout
  14. Don't waste your time arguing with him. Simply put, Donald Trump is an idiot's idea of what a successful businessman looks like.
  15. I noticed it when I saw some clips. I haven't seen the interview that you've mentioned. I am a goalie myself and I always notice gear changes on other goalies.
  16. I noticed that Demko is now wearing CCM pads after wearing Brian's for most of his career. Ian Clark got Markstrom to change to CCM from Bauer and that is when he really started to fix the holes in his game. Hopefully this equates to good things for Demko.
  17. Which league has more skill/is tougher to play in: the BCHL or AJHL?
  18. I remember him totally crushing Ryan Smyth when we played the Kings in the playoffs, too. Smyth was woozy when he got up
  19. I didn't wanna be that guy, he had his headphones in and was waiting in line. I considered it though!
  20. I think we're gonna win this one for the simple fact of I just bumped into Travis Green at Esso downtown. I said good luck the rest of the way, Travis. He smiled and said thanks. And that's my story, had to tell someone.
  21. Here's my personal top 5: 1. Bure OT goal vs. Flames in '94. I was 9 at the game with my uncle both head-to-toe in Canucks gear with the painted face and sign. Went down to the players exits after and got it signed by Quinn, Linden, Adams, Murzyn, MacIntyre, Hunter, and more. 2. Henrik Sedin 1000th point. I was at this game too. The fact it was a beautiful goal on Luongo and assisted by #22 & #23 made it even more special. 3. 2008/09 Playoffs vs. Chicago. Can't remember which game it was but it was the one where Luongo made that crazy rebound stick save on Eager. I got the tickets for free and sat next to the legend Jim Robson and his wife Bea in the lower bowl. Not bad. 4.Henrik's 4 point night versus Calgary. Sealed the Art Ross with beautiful hockey. 5. Going a bit off the board with this one, but the game last year versus Colorado where Petey had 5 points. He had an OT breakaway which drew the penalty Pouliot scored on, but if the ref had a brain he would've given Petey a penalty shot and chance for the hat trick.
  22. Hey Alf. I frequent these boards occasionally. I see you do too as you have posted over 45,000 times. That's pretty neat. I guess I'm happy for you that you've found an online community, a virtual safe space for you to voluntarily share your personal thoughts. However, in your earlier post trying to admonish the late great KOBE BRYANT, it makes me realize that, similar to the notion that not everyone should have children, not everyone should have a platform to share their opinion. You might have questions for what I mean by that but you don't deserve an explanation. You've shown me exactly where you are. When I come on these boards I have to hunt for gems within comments; I sift through pages to try to glean info, observations, and other noteworthy news from posters. You've shown me that you have absolutely nothing worthy to contribute. Instead, you are an online alter ego - a troll - a byproduct of our hyper-communicating world. I am now blocking your posts here on CDC so that I can raise the quality of what I read. Go fly a kite.
  23. The New York Islanders might get a bad rap but I think they deserve more credit. They've had lots of success (like Detroit, as your criteria suggested) in the past and have a large and knowledgeable fan base. The ownership and arena issues in past years may have sullied their reputation in some ways but once they sort out a new building they'll become successful again. Barclays is in an inconvenient part of the city for, what I would expect, most Isles fans to be travelling to. I went to a game in Brooklyn 3 years ago and sat next to a Penguins fan season-ticket holder from Long Island. We chatted a bit and he knew lots about the Canucks prospects and was an all around nice dude. The arena is not ideal but I had a great time. And I wished I knew more about the Pens prospects to chat about!
